O boy I hope he stays next year I still think that Mare is clutch... the good news is that we have alot of cap room to work with for next year so I hope saban makes a good impression on McMike

That is because "our kicker" has long been eligible for unrestricted free agency and "our star tight end" is in the last year of his rookie contract. When McMike becomes an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year, he should be in for an exponential pay raise.

Mare has scored 862 points for the Fins in his career, the equivalent of over 143 touchdowns. McMichael has scored 84.

If you want to go there, he also makes more than the following:
All D-line except JT
All O-line except McDougle & St. Clair
All WR but Chambers and Booker
All RB & FB's
All QB's
All LB's except Zack & Junior
All DB's except Madison

You must include bonus money to make an accurate determination of who's better paid

Don't discredit the kicker, he's a heck of one.

I've never liked Mare. I hope we cut him next year.

Mare is a keeper, he's got plenty of years left in him.

Finding a reliable NFL kicker isn't an easy thing to do (ask the Dallas Cowboys :() and that's exactly what Olindo Mare is.

I'd atleast try to get him to take a cut but I'm all for keeping him.

I think we should stick with Olindo Mare for one more year and then try to draft the guy who I think is the best kicker in college: Mason Crosby of Colorado. Crosby can boom them from 60+ yards out, and not just at high altitude. He may have the strongest kicking leg around, including guys from the NFL. I think he could even be taken in the 1st riound in 2007. I would use a 2nd round pick on him if I was picking.

I have seen Mare make a 72 yarder in warmups with my own two eyes. Most NFL Kickers can make 65 yarders with their kickoff leg. It's like golf, I can hit my pitching wedge 150 but I have to nuke it and I lose accuracy, so I only hit it about 130.

Regardless of how far and accurate he can kick he needs to restructure or hit the road..2.1 million cap hit for him is quite a bit.

While we are on the topic we need quite a few others to restructure
James at 3.4 million...ouch.:shakeno:
D.Jones at 1.5 million...ouchhh.:shakeno:
Traylor at 6.52 million...ouchhhh.:shakeno:
Booker at 2.9 million...damn:shakeno:
McIntosh at 1.79 million...double damn:shakeno:

Seau almost 2 million (sorry but good bye):shakeno: Howard AT 3 MILLION (just plain sorry) :sidelol:
MADISON AT 6.33 MILLION (nice guy but way over priced...seeya):shakeno:

Zach and JT could also restucture to help the cause

I'M SURE WE COULD SAVE MORE
and I would love to hear other views and ideas regarding who
should also restructure and who should be on the outside looking in.

Thanks and I am looking forward to hearing from everyone else.

Thanks,
MiamiRon
