:help: I seem to be having a fuel pressure problem with my Aermotive fuel pump #11203. I can't or don't seem to have enough pressure to push fuel past the regulator #13301. There is fuel up to that point but not past it. I have adjusted the regulator but nothing seems to help. Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks.

I googled your pump and it came up in a RX-7 discussion. A '69 'cuda eh? good job. 318, 340, 426, 440?

It was originally a 318 car, but now has a 500 ci crate motor from mopar. has an estimated rear wheel power of about 615-625 hp

I have backed the pressure adjusting bolt all the way out and the pressure jumps to 15 and flows past the carb needle. But even the slightest amount of adjustment to increase pressure the fuel will not flow past the regulator. Is my regulator bad? It is leaving me puzzled???

Not sure need more details. First don't confuse pressure with volume. The regulator works on pressure but can't differentiate between vapor pressure and volume of liquid fuel. Especially where the fuel line is exposed to heat a pressure regulator can vapor lock. Also, do you know what the rated volume and pressure is of the pump and regulator? What is the demand of your carburetion/ induction system? The regulator works by pressure against a diaphragm closing the inlet valve when the diaphram pressure exceeds a preset spring tension on the opposite side of the diaphram. I take it this is an electric fuel pump. Remove the regulator, turn on the pump and check output flow from the pump. The regulator should appear open when blown through. Only the back pressure on the regulator outlet should restrict the flow through it. Last but certainly not least check carefully the rated capacity of the fuel pump and regulator. That is not causing this problem but I doubt very seriously that a pump made for a Mazda can feed that monster engine! Let us know what kind of induction system your engine has? Good luck, feel free to ask.

it is a dead head system with no return. I've opened the regulator an deterimined that it i have pressure with plenty of volume, however with the just the slightest amount of adjustment, the regulator will not allow fuel to get past the diaphram. Still at a loss of causes...:fire:

I figured out the problem, we were using a return style regulator. In this style regulator the inlet line is on the bottom rather than the return line style.
