I got it from Gamefly, been playing it for about a week now. I must say it is definitely fun. Pretty tough too, most games turn into shootouts cause its so hard to play defense. You can train players for different attributes(speed, strength, arm strength, tackling, break tackles, etc...) plus you have quite a few "Juicing" options for your players. Plus its pretty cool to have a storyline and behind the scenes stuff to go along with the football. I'd give it about a 8.5, definitely worth a rent at least.

what are some of the storylines?

You start out as the new coach of a relocating team. You pick the new city, team name, logo, star veteran player, star rookie, all that good stuff. Then you see the owner and the mayor of the city blackmailing each other. Players dating cheerleaders, you get emails from other players, players going to the strip club, players in the weight room, players in debt and getting their SUVs repossessed, bribes. You can pay for "escorts" for the opposing team the night before the game to keep them up late and their stamina down for the game. All kinds of stuff. Its pretty cool.

What are all of the options that you can do on that game? Is there a sort of superstar mode thing like Madden?

Sounds like more of a "super coach" mode... Cool none the less.

The whole game is basically like Superstar mode. It follows multiple people off the field, mainly your Coach, star veteran, and star rookie. My rook is nailing the cheerleading captain and my veteran is nailing the mayor at the moment.

how is the gameplay?

FAST. Default is 2 minute quarters, moves by very quick. Not too bad, theres a "bullet-time" button you can push so everything around you slows down for a limited time. Playing defense is pretty tough. Most of my games have been shootouts. When a player gets injured you can choose to either "safely treat" him or "shoot him up" with pain killers, the injury time is drastically different. My RB blew his ACL, safely would have been out 4 games, painkillers made it 3 plays! It does have a longterm effect if you always do painkillers though. Like I said its definitely worth at least a rent.

I don't recommend this game at all. I don't even think it is nearly as fun as the old blitz arcade games, and defense doesn't exist at all. I understand that blitz is all about high scoring shootouts but this game is seriously ridiculous. The graphics seem unrefined, and the storyline is nothing to get excited about considering how poor the gameplay is. I started playing the storyline mode and played the first five games without ever having a possession that I didn't score on. Also, your supposed stars on the team seem to be the exact same ability as the bad players. I would recommend renting this game before even thinking about paying 50 dollars for it.

I love this game I traded in Madden '05 for it. Unlike Madden, IT's FUN!!!!! Madden is boring.

I think the worst thing that ever happened Sports Game wise was EA buying the NFL rights. ESPN NFL 2K5 won't be rivaled until Madden '2010 or so. Even NFL Fever was better than Madden.

HA! Maybe if you're a fan of arcady games then yea, but for sim-type games madden kills em. Fever was so ridiculous it made me hate XBox sports games forever. All you had to do was call the same play and air the ball out 80yds and score a TD, and on defense you got an INT everytime. RUnning was a joke, there was no such thing as second moves in fever, if the defenders EYELASH touched you you were tackled. All the games were shootouts too, real defense was non-existant. As far as the ESPN series, it killed madden in presentation, thats all. I didn't see a huge graphical difference, and the gameplay certainly was not better than maddens. Again, passing was lame and arcady, and all you had to do when running was mash the shoulder charge button and you could get AT LEAST 6 yards every time. The presentation argument won't matter next year either because Madden can use the ESPN stuff. Madden gameplay is flawed, but its way more real feeling than those two pieces of garbage.

I just don't like Madden. It seems to have no personality. I hate John Madden the person so maybe that's part of it. I just don't have fun playing it. It seems like work even when I'm winning.

Oh yea, dude, john madden the man has ZERO personality, I HATE him, worst announcer ever, which is why ESPN killed madden presentation-wise, in commentary and graphical layouts and stuff, but when it comes to actually playing football, I couldn't STAND Fever or ESPN.

I liked the way ESPN played. Madden was ok until this QB vision thing. It's a pain in the *** to play the game. It's just too intricate. I like an easy to play game. I pick my reciever and pass it to them very simply.

my friend boguht Blitz today and we were playing it, my review on it is. The gameplay is fun, i love playing defense trying to lay the big hit. So far after 2 games in the campain mode it was rather easy but that is ok. The campain mode looks ok, i like all the juicing options and how you can pick your cheerleaders. The only thing we didnt understand is it says like 7 wins to advance, advance to what? Is there playoffs or how does it work? Like advance to Divison II? Also we havent come across the bar cutscenes(idk if they are cutscenes or do we actually get to control them?), or like when or how you start dating the cheerleaders or whatnot. Does anyone know when this stuff appears?
