Some many great tunes from Led Zep....I love listening to Bonham pounding the drums on songs like When the Levee Breaks and many others....they just had the perfect combination of guitarsm, drums, singing, it all just came together to make it kick ***. :)

OK, that is just sickening!! They've been my favorite band since I was about 15, I'm 31 now. I was always a metal head when I was younger and a singer in a couple bands back in the day. I used to practice Led after I'd finish practicing my vocal lessons along with my other favorites...

I also have the Swan song tattoo on my right upper arm!

My picks are:
Hey, Hey What Can I do
Going to California
The Ocean
The Crunge
In the Light
and of course Stairway...

I can't believe i missed this thread!!! First off i have to say that i completly envy u Pagan!!! I've watched the Song Remains The Same probably 15 times! I have every zeppelin cd I ,II ,III ,IV ,Houses Of The Holy ,Physical Graffiti ,Presence, In Through The Out Door, CODA, How The West Was Won, The Song Remains The Same sound track, BBC Sessions, a rare bootleg called Immigrant Songs, and a few bootleg downloads i've found on the net. I have over 150 Zeppelin songs, i cant get enough. My room has zeppelin memrobilia all over. Best band of all time bar none. My favorites are: Hey Hey What Can I Do, Ten Years Gone, Kashmir, The Rain Song (live off the song remains the same, pagan u lucky snake!!!, is the best), Your Time Is Gonna Come, Dancing Days, How Many More Times, Heartbreaker, Living Loving Maid, Fool In The Rain, Tea For One, The Crunge, D'Yer Mak'er, Custard Pie, What Is And What Should Never Be, No Quarter, The Wanton Song, The Lemon Song; the list goes on and on!!!!

Mama, let me pump your gas, mama, let me do it all

Led Zeppelin II hands down

http://www.finheaven.com/images/imported/2005/12/B000002J0301LZZZZZZZ-1.jpg

Every Song on the cd is pure brilliance and some of the best written stuff of all time imo.

1. Whole Lotta Love - Pure Brilliance right from the beginning leading up to the 2 minute sex noises by plant and the perfect solo for the song followed up by page.
2. What is and What Should Never Be - Real Soulful lyrics all throughout the songs im not a big fan of the song but it is good.
3. The Lemon Song - Plants amazing vocals carry this song away and pages eminent guitar playing makes this stick out as one of there greatest songs ever.
4. Thank You - Pure 60s song made in the 70s...just pure brilliance how you can simply go back one era of time and just produce something just as good. Really underated song.
5. Living Loving Maid - Awesome bassy song with an upbeat tempo through out the whole thing. One of my favorites of all time for sure...""so you better lay your money dowwwwwwwwwnnnnnnnnn""
6. Ramble On - Too many words can be said for this song so i'll just leave it short and brief and just say its one of my top 5 of all time led zeppelin songs.
7. Moby Dick - This Song is page all the way with amazing guitar parts through out the whole thing...real quirky song but somehow its amazing!!!
8. Bring It On Home - Orchestrating a Harmonica into this song was a great idea...but the vocals are quiet maybe its just the recording but the song should of been produced better.

depends having two guitars on your body at once no matter what is very uncomfortable its just easiar to do when you need a 12 string part along with a 6 string. Heres how the page gibson sounds again i wasnt too impressed

best album i think is Physical Graffitit or II

I agee with this 100%. While II is the ultimate Hard Rock classic, Physical Graffitti has some much depth and versatility. There are so many different moods on that album. Plus it's two LP's. The only thing better than a Zeppelin LP is two!! But II is so solid from start to finish...it's a complete tie!

finally got Physical Graffiti. great stuff

finally? i guess that sounds kind of funny to me as long as i've had it - what's so great about this album is how unorthodox jimi page's playing is - still haven't heard chords and phrasing done this way since - what's great about about bands like led zep and early van halen is they both had a second to none rhythm section - when you have a bass player and drummer locked in, right in the pocket, it gives single guitar player bands like eddie's and jimmy's the freedom to explore space and take more freedom with their playing - listen to the chords jimmy page uses in the wanton song right after the second verse, they are the absolute most ugliest, dissented chords i've ever heard but it works - such is the magic of jimmy page/led zeppelin...

my led zeppelin moment

8th grade: i switched from regular p.e. to a class called physical conditionioning. we ran miles on odd days and lifted weights on even days. but the kids in the class only played black sabbath or led zeppelin on lifting days. i'm still a fan of both today. while i like all led zeppelin songs, rain song and over the hills and that one raggae song and that hillbilliy song #3 on kasmir album. i was a led zepplin finatic afterwards until i played all the albums to death all through high school and early college. now i hardly ever put an album on but i stilll enjoy the songs when i here them on the radio.

For me, mid to late period Zeppelin (although I dunno about In Through the Out Door, that to me doesn't even sound like Zep) was the rage. I like the early stuff a LOT too...(especially "Since I've Been Loving You"), but I think they explored a lot more ground later on.

"Houses of the Holy" to me is a classic. I also like Presence--Achille's Last STand is practically a precursor to Maiden-esque music.

I'm glad we've all had enough time to forget Puff daddy's Come with Me existed, either.

the only benefit of that recording was hearing the amazing Kashmir riff with a lot more oomph and amplification. Other than that, no thanks

the greatest thing about Zep is unlike "classic" rock bands of the 70s who often shared the same generic traits, Zep didn't have that 'generic' sound.

granted they weren't the most original in the world and lifted a lot of their blusier material from old songs, but that isn't my point--you knew zep when you heard em.

yea, in terms of musicianship, Jimmy Page was a sloppy musician. that's why almost nobody can accurately recreate the Rock 'n Roll solo...it's hard to intentionally have that kind of rhythm :)

sloppy musician???

No as a musician jimmy page is a top 5 guitarist all time no questions asked and should be on everybodys lists. Some parts were sloppy but it was the 70s all musicians were sloppy nobody was uber yngwie malmsteen perfect then. Unfortunately without zeppelin we would of just known him as the guitarist that played under eric clapton and jeff beck in the yardbirds.

of all time? heeeeellllllllllll no, if we're talking in terms of musicianship, although I enjoy his work.

As far as the "it was the 70's, all musicians were sloppy", I have no idea what you're talking about. Ritchie Blackmore wasn't sloppy in the 70s. Nor were Tipton and Downing from Judas Priest, or Steve Hackett of Genesis, or Robert Fripp of King Crimson (albeit he was noisy)....Page was a good rock 'n roll guitarist but man, he wouldn't even crack my top ten of "best guitarists of all time" if we're talking about ability (and note I'm not talking about who can play Buckethead fast, musicianship is more than technical ability alone).

You can enjoy what a guitarist does without proclaiming him one of the best of all time. Nobody would ever mistake Page for a virtuoso guitarist. That's not a knock on him, either--he was a great songwriter and came up with great riffs. His solos, though, were often expected fare, usually sloppy, and not always memorable. (Of course his Stairway solo was legendary, though).

I have a bud in california who's an extremely talented musician whom always used to say he thought Jimmy sold his soul on the Stairway solo...

page was perfect for zeppelin no doubt about it...dude when you make a top 10 guitarist list ability isnt what should come to mind. Its the whole package, music writing skills, playing skills, singing skills ect.

btw i'd love to hear who your top 10 is in no order of course dont want ya playing favorites

sold his soul on the stairway solo your kidding me right, Tell your friend this before he disses the stairway solo to get the backtracking for the song or just play the backtracking and write a solo better then it. I'll bet ya he cant, the solo serves the song to a perfection.

As much of a zep fan bro, zep didnt have the best musicians in my opinion but as a unit they were close to untouchable unless your name was the beatles

It's almost impossible to pick just one, but if I had to this could very well be it!!! I love the guitar! It sounds like the heaviest blues song of all time or something!

they DIDN'T have the best musicians. still very good though. i mean, page is probably the least talented of all of them and he's one of the best ever.

John Paul Jones was an amazing bassist and composer, listen to the bass line in "Ramble On".

As far as being tasty and a ROCK as a backbone, you can't get much better than Bonham.

best version of tangerine i've ever heard. i have a couple live versions. and this takes the cake. Tangerine is def. my favorite acoustic song by Zep. in fact, i'm in a Zep cover band called "What Is And What Should Never Be" and the fisrt song that we played was Tangerine.

Yeah they rock!! But Stairway isn't their best song IMO. My faves are Travelin' Riverside Blues, Misty Mountain Hop, Dancin' Days, and Baby Since I've Been Loving You. :chuckle:

their songs to me are almost like stanley kubricks movies are to me...i love them all as much as any music ever, and it's near impossible to choose the best...but stairway gets me every time
