The trees won't be the only thing sprouting new colors come springtime. Americans' wallets will have more red, yellow and orange as the first of 800 million redesigned $10 bills start showing up in cash registers and ATM machines on March 2.

Government officials said Thursday that they had selected the March date to start distributing the more colorful $10 bills, which will have shades of the new colors added to the traditional green.

The makeover of the $10 follows colorization of the $20 bill in 2003 and the $50 bill last year.

We don't want colored bills. We want bills that aren't easy to counterfeit. Unfortunately, like ch19079 said, it doesn't work. Our money is still easy to counterfeit.

Don't complain about colored money....we have that AND a damn coin for one's, two's and coming soon....fives.

It's gotten to the point that whenever you go shopping you need a pull cart to tote around all your damn change.

This is about keeping up faith in US currency and keeping folks out of the Euros. It's well worth whatever cost there is. That is one big reason you haven't seen the $1 bill go through the first phase of the redesign.
