Any Christmas song that hasn't been overplayed in a shopping centre... that is, mostly the traditional songs that have been overshadowed by the rubbish playing the unfortunate roll of contributing to the commercialisation of a supposedly sacred time in the Christian calender.

My favorite is Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band's version of Little Drummer Boy.

That is also one of my favorite Christmas tunes and Segers version is the best version to me.

A few years ago I heard a hard rock guitar style version of 12 days of Christmas that was pretty good too but I don't know who it was and have not been able to find it. I want to say Zak Wylde on one of the Merry Xmas albums but I am not sure. I think it was the same guy that remade Hocus Pocus by Focus.

Carol of the Bells in any version is also a favorite. Al DiMeola did a great acoustic version for you guitar fans and Steve Smiths Do you Hear What I hear is good too. :)

er... Merry Axemas albums oops.

I'll tell ya, when my son was in elementary school it seemed that every other day he had a new "version" of a Christmas songs.
Set the hall-alls all on fi-re
fa la la la la ..la la la la
Watch your mother scream and holler
fa la la la la ... la la la la
see the fire trucks squirt thier water
fa la la la la ... la la la la
ad infinitum...

i feel strange saying this but, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra (sp?) did some christmas songs that combined an orchestra and an electric guitar.

i think the best ones are:
A Mad Russian's Christmas
Wish Liszt (Toy Shop Madness)
something like "Carol of the bells"
and one of the nutcracker songs.

http://www.trans-siberian.com (http://www.trans-siberian.com/)

i prefer the ones where they dont sing, and its all music.

Why would you feel strange? (well...other than your choice of teams  )

Trans-Sib Orch Rocks!
Wasn't it them (or Manheim Steamroller... I forget which) that did Carol of the Bells with Metallica?

yes, thats the one i was talking about. its a very good song. (can you still call it a song if noone sings??)

christmas songs that mainly use a freakin orchestra. ive never been to big on "classical music", so its strange for me to like it now.

It's the one where a guy sings like a kid saying the bad stuff he did. Like superglueing the neighbors cat to a toy rocket and shooting it and it lands by a mean dog. It was the cats fault for not holding on, the cat didn't get in trouble. Stupid cat :rofl3:
