To the METS from all reports. Should happen very soon.

Nothing official at all. But I'd rather not see him go to the Mets. Especially not for Diaz or Hernandez. I don't think particularly much of either of them. I'd rather trade Pierre to LA for 2B Delwyn Young and hold onto Lo Duca to teach these new pitchers.

according to reports its for a Mets minor league prospect.

December 4, 2005 -- The Mets are believed to be close to a deal in which they would send a minor-league prospect to the Marlins for catcher Paul Lo Duca, according to a major-league source.
The identity of the Met prospect was not immediately known — but it's hard to envision it being Lastings Milledge, the jewel of their minor-league system.

two no name minor leaguers

I wouldn't call Gaby Hernandez a no-name minor leaguer. At least Baseball America doesn't, since they have him as the 3rd best prospect in the system. We now have acquired the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th best in Petit, Hernandez, and Jacobs this offseason.

You guys will love Dukie, though. He's all heart and guts.

I like the way he plays. And the Mets need that!

I liked Jacobs, but he could not hit lefties. If he can start doing that, then he can be a stud.

Petit had a tough time this year, he throws hard but is small (Martinez like)

Hernandez I don't know much about, really never heard of him and I follow the Mets close. He must be a few years away.

They won't be in Vegas unless the status quo changes. Hank Goldberg on Sportsradio 560 WQAM down here reported Friday that Selig will not move them to North Jersey or Las Vegas, citing concerns over gambling and stadium location for Vegas.

But to answer your question, if they do end up moving, it's not too terribly difficult to follow a team outside of your town these days. I won't have local broadcasts, but I'm going to college soon anyway and wouldn't have them when I'm out of town. I love my team, and in a sadistic, masochistic, idiotic way, I'm enjoying doing the research on these new prospects we're bringing in. It's almost a free scouting lesson on what to look for and how to build a team from scratch, and we'll tell in 2 or 3 years if the front office did a very good job or a Kansas City job. I'd still rather win, of course, but unlike most South Florida fans, I'm fiercely loyal to my teams. So yes is the answer.

Really? I thought Petit was kind of huskie and had a body like Kevin Millar. He's listed at 230, so that's not very small. Although D-Willis is listed at 240 so who knows. I've seen the guy pitch once on ESPN and barely remember what he looked like.

Petit is anything but. He's not the tallest guy ever, about 6'0'', but he's listed at 230. The reason why scouts have soured on him lately is that they expected his velocity to improve as he got older, but it stayed in the 88-90 mph range. But hey, Greg Maddux threw too softly and Billy Wagner was too short, and look what happened. The important thing with Yusmeiro is that the results are there, and I'll take that over a 95 mph fastball and nothing else as the centerpiece of a deal.

My bad, I switched Petit and Yumerio, he is the guy with the Martinez build.

Yusmeiro is Petit. His name is Yusmeiro Petit. Oh well, the point is that he's similar in shape I guess to Bartolo Colon but doesn't throw that hard, which is why the scouts are confused. I'm more concerned about wins and ERA as long as he doesn't get too huge.

Kazmir was my guess.. He is only 6'0 and about 175.. He still throws some heat, and did a great job pitching for the Rays last year.

Unless they're just going to trade Paulie to somewhere for pitching and then just sign Molina/Ramon Hernandez

Nah, Ray, they wouldn't do that. No purpose in it.

Rumor is the Mets could trade him and Benson to Zona for Javy Vasquez. Apparently the DBacks want Lo Duca and had a deal worked out for him with the Marlins but they wanted FL to throw in $1 million with him and the FL F.O. said no. Stay tuned I don't think it's a crazy idea. Omar LOVES Javy.

Maybe...maybe. Dukie wanted to go to Zona. He's from there. But he was born in Brooklyn. I just wonder what prospects Zona had lined up for us, because I love this Gaby Hernandez. I'm very curious to find out who the second one is.

I heard this rumor, too. I'm not exactly against it, though LoDuca and Benson for Vazquez seems like a high price to pay. Personally, I'm not sure about the trade. I think Ramon Hernandez is a better player, and is younger, though LoDuca is obviously cheaper by a good margin. Plus, LoDuca has a career-long trend of wearing down in the second half, which is a problem for a team making a hard charge at the postseason.

Are we talking about the same guy? The same Kris Benson who's passed 200 innings exactly twice in his career, and passed 201 innings just once? The same guy who missed all of 2001 and has averaged 25.5 starts per season since?

The more I think about it, the more I hope the Mets deal Benson and something else for Vazquez. LoDuca might be a bit much, but perhaps not ridiculously so.

Apparently the Mets are upset that Benson's wife is possibly going to be nude in Playboy and don't like it. Plus Omar wasn't the one who signed Benson in the first place so he's not in love with him for some reason.

Omar's not in love with him for many of the same reasons I noted above. That and the fact that Benson's ERA+ (http://www.baseball-reference.com/b/bensokr01.shtml) exposes him as basically a league average pitcher, yet he's paid $8 million.

She also came out and bashed the Mets for getting Delgado, saying its a disgrace he won't stand for God Bless America!

But I guess its not a disgrace to pose nude for playboy!

She was also in the 2005 World Series of Poker and got a couple penalties for vulgar language and conduct. Then was thrown out of the tournament for her behavior. Probably pre-planned to get press but funny nontheless.
