The Chicago White Sox (http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/team/71590) cut ties with slugger Frank Thomas (http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/player/85030), refusing Wednesday to offer salary arbitration to the two-time American League MVP.

The World Series champions also declined to offer arbitration to designated hitter Carl Everett (http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/player/84945) and backup catcher Raul Casanova (http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/player/306183). Players who became free agents and weren't offered arbitration can't re-sign with their former clubs until May 1.

And Paul Kornerko. I'm guessing Thome will probably DH full time.

Well, he's cheap, and if healthy, he'll hit for power and draw a ton of walks. Sounds like an Oakland kind of investment to me.
