We all have that song that just makes us say "w0w" how did they think of that. What are some of the most moving, meaningful lyrics you have heard. For me it's either Going To California ( " The sea was red and the sky was grey, wondered how tomorrow could ever follow today. " ) or Your Time Is Gonna Come ( " One of these days and it won't be long, You'll look for me but baby, I'll be gone. "; prolly the best break up song too ). What about you guys:confused:

It depends on what mood/emotion we are talking about here. I listen to a lot of punk song so I have favorite lyrics about different topic like society and the government etc. Then I listen to Jack Johnson, and I have favorite lyrics about life in general and such by him, so it all depends ya know? I will say that, by default, I'd have to say my favorite lyrics are *gulp* Amazed by Lonestar. I don't even listen to, or like, country, but that is me and my girlfriend of 4 years' song, so I kind of HAVE to include that when talking about lyrics. That song is perfect to dedicate to the one you love, the lyrics are spot on.

Tupac Shakur - Dear Momma

- Lyrics - (http://ohhla.com/anonymous/2_pac/matworld/dearmama.2pc.txt)

Now ain't nobody tell us it was fair
No love from my daddy cause the coward wasn't there
He passed away and I didn't cry, cause my anger
wouldn't let me feel for a stranger
They say I'm wrong and I'm heartless, but all along
I was lookin for a father he was gone

A Long December by Counting Crows.
...and all at once, you look across a crowded room
to see the way that light attaches to a girl...

Hour Follows Hour by Ani DiFranco
...we make our own gravity
to give weight to things
and then things fall and they break
and gravity sings...

Simple Twist of Fate by Bob Dylan
They sat together in the park
As the evening sky grew dark,
She looked at him and he felt a spark tingle to his bones.
'Twas then he felt alone and wished that he'd gone straight
And watched out for a simple twist of fate.

They walked along by the old canal
A little confused, I remember well
And stopped into a strange hotel with a neon burnin' bright.
He felt the heat of the night hit him like a freight train
Moving with a simple twist of fate.

A saxophone someplace far off played
As she was walkin' by the arcade.
As the light bust through a beat-up shade where he was wakin' up,
She dropped a coin into the cup of a blind man at the gate
And forgot about a simple twist of fate.

He woke up, the room was bare
He didn't see her anywhere.
He told himself he didn't care, pushed the window open wide,
Felt an emptiness inside to which he just could not relate
Brought on by a simple twist of fate.

He hears the ticking of the clocks
And walks along with a parrot that talks,
Hunts her down by the waterfront docks where the sailors all come in.
Maybe she'll pick him out again, how long must he wait
Once more for a simple twist of fate.

People tell me it's a sin
To know and feel too much within.
I still believe she was my twin, but I lost the ring.
She was born in spring, but I was born too late
Blame it on a simple twist of fate.

I could go on forever...

I see no changes all I see is racist faces
misplaced hate makes disgrace to races
We under I wonder what it takes to make this
one better place, let's erase the wasted
Take the evil out the people they'll be acting right
'cause both black and white is smokin' crack tonight
and only time we chill is when we kill each other
it takes skill to be real, time to heal each other
And although it seems heaven sent
We ain't ready, to see a black President, uhh
It ain't a secret don't conceal the fact
the penitentiary's packed, and it's filled with blacks
But some things will never change
try to show another way but you stayin' in the dope game
Now tell me what's a mother to do
bein' real don't appeal to the brother in you
You gotta operate the easy way
"I made a G today" But you made it in a sleazy way
sellin' crack to the kid. " I gotta get paid,"
Well hey, well that's the way it is

I love the Lyrics to this tune... reminds me of a song Saban might have written during this season... if he was a bald, tattoo'd, heavy metal singer, that is...

Pantera - Yesterday Don't Mean ****

There's nothing special about it
It's either there when you're born or not
The gifted with talent are no big deal
Welcome to the death of a century...

Cause yesterday don't mean ****
What's over is over and nothing between
Yesterday don't mean ****
Because tomorrow's the day you have to face
There's no rewinding time
Yesterday don't mean ****
Yesterday don't mean ****

Reliving old reviews is a useless tool of confusion
Don't hold your breath for the turn-around
Come into the world of endless odds...

Cause yesterday don't mean ****
What's over is over and nothing between
Yesterday don't mean ****
Because tomorrow's the day you have to face
There's no rewinding time
Yesterday don't mean ****
Yesterday don't mean ****

They'll tell you about guilt
And in time you'll face the darkness...
But darkness is a friend to you
Embrace and fly through the madness

Flying past God and wars and conflict
Oppressor in you (x2)
Plowing through minds and paranoia
Oppressor in you
The oppressor's in you

Yesterday don't mean jack ****...

You protect you and I'll keep to myself
It can only be that way - yeah!

wow, i definitly disagree with that. tupac was ridiculed alot for being contridictive because he would make songs about completely opposite things.

some people hated the fact he talked about sex, weed, guns, and fighting, then turned around and talked about cleaning up the community, having respect for our women in the society. i personally liked the fact that he had 2 sides to his personality and wasnt afraid to show both.

dont get me wrong though, i love biggie to.

Dylan, Waters, Lennon and Springsteen wrote some GREAT stuff. Throw Taupin in there too.

"You're So Vain" by Carly Simon is one of my favorites. Did you know that, that song is about me?

Todd Rundgren's "Can We Still Be Friends?" is perhaps my all-time favorite, though:

We can’t play this game anymore
But can we still be friends
Things just can’t go on like before
But can we still be friends
We had something to learn
Now it’s time for the wheel to turn
Grains of sand, one by one
Before you know it, all gone

Let’s admit we made a mistake
But can we still be friends
Heartbreak’s never easy to take
But can we still be friends
It’s a strange, sad affair
Sometimes seems like we just don’t care
Don’t waste time feeling hurt
We’ve been through hell together

Can we still get together sometime
You know life will still go on and on and on

We awoke from our dream
Things are not always what they seem
Memories linger on
It’s like a sweet, sad old song

Rundgren's "It Wouldn't Have Made Any Difference" is another all-time great...

Soul Society ~ Kamelot

If my soul could revive
From my carnal remains
What does it matter to me?
If it all fades to black
If I'm born once again
Then no one really is free

How could I be condemned
For the things that I've done
If my intentions were good?
I guess I'll never know
Some things under the sun
Can never be understood

How can we believe in heaven?
Human reason counters all
Ideas of a soul society
My life is just a fragment
Of the universe and all
There must be more than I can see

In the dark we're the same
In the concept of time
We're like a grain of sand
And we strive for the flame
As if death was our aim
Cause we cannot understand

How I wish there was heaven
All for one and one for all
A flawless soul society
Our lives are just a fragment
Of the universe and all
There may be more than we can see

Bright Eyes- Lover I Don't Have To Love

I picked you out
Of a crowd and talked to you
Said I liked your shoes
I said "thanks can I follow you"?
So it's up the stairs
And out of view
No prying eyes
I poured some wine
I asked your name
you asked the time

Now it's two o'clock
The club is closed we're up the block
Your hands on me
Pressing hard against your jeans
Your tongue in my mouth
Trying to keep the words from coming out
You didn't care to know
Who else may have been you before

I want a lover I don't have to love
I want a girl who's too sad to give a ****
Where's the kid with the chemicals?
I thought he said he'd meet me here but I'm not sure
I got the money if you got the time
He said it feels good I said I'll give it a try

Then my mind went dark
We both forgot where your car was parked
Let's just take the train
I'll meet up with the band in the morning
Bad actors with bad habits
Some sad singers
They just play tragic

And the phone's ringing
And the band's leaving
Let's just keep touching
Let's just keep keep singing

I want a lover I don't have to love
I want a boy who's so drunk he doesn't talk
Where's the kid with the chemicals
I got a hunger and I can't seem to get full
I need some meaning I can memorize
The kind I have always seems to slip my mind

But you but you
You write such pretty words
But life's no story book
Love's an excuse to get hurt
And to hurt
Do you like to hurt?
I do I do
Then hurt me

Ralph Stanley- O Death

O, Death
O, Death
Won't you spare me over til another year
Well what is this that I can't see
With ice cold hands takin' hold of me
Well I am death, none can excel
I'll open the door to heaven or hell
Whoa, death someone would pray
Could you wait to call me another day
The children prayed, the preacher preached
Time and mercy is out of your reach
I'll fix your feet til you cant walk
I'll lock your jaw til you cant talk
I'll close your eyes so you can't see
This very air, come and go with me
I'm death I come to take the soul
Leave the body and leave it cold
To draw up the flesh off of the frame
Dirt and worm both have a claim
O, Death
O, Death
Won't you spare me over til another year
My mother came to my bed
Placed a cold towel upon my head
My head is warm my feet are cold
Death is a-movin upon my soul
Oh, death how you're treatin' me
You've close my eyes so I can't see
Well you're hurtin' my body
You make me cold
You run my life right outta my soul
Oh death please consider my age
Please don't take me at this stage
My wealth is all at your command
If you will move your icy hand
Oh the young, the rich or poor
Hunger like me you know
No wealth, no ruin, no silver no gold
Nothing satisfies me but your soul
O, death
O, death
Wont you spare me over til another year
Wont you spare me over til another year
Wont you spare me over til another year

TOOL- Eulogy

He had a lot to say
He had a lot of nothing to say
We'll miss him
We'll miss him
We're gonna miss him
We're gonna miss him

So long
We wish you well
You told us how you weren't afraid to die
Well then, so long
Don't cry.
Or feel too down
Not all martyrs see divinity
But at least you tried

Standing above the crowd,
He had a voice that was strong and loud
We'll miss him
We'll miss him
Ranting and pointing his finger
At everything but his heart
We'll miss him
We'll miss him
We're gonna miss him
We're gonna miss him

No way to recall
What it was that you had said to me,
Like I care at all

But it was so loud
You sure could yell
You took a stand on every little thing
And so loud

Standing above the crowd,
He had a voice so strong and loud and I
Swallowed his façade 'cause I'm so
Eager to identify with
Someone above the ground,
Someone who seemed to feel the same,
Someone prepared to lead the way, with
Someone who would die for me

Will you? Will you now?
Would you die for me?
Don't you ****ing lie

Don't you step out of line
Don't you step out of line
Don't you step out of line
Don't you ****ing lie

You've claimed all this time that you would die for me
Why then are you so surprised when you hear your own eulogy?

You had a lot to say
You had a lot of nothing to say

Come down
Get off your ****ing cross
We need the fu*king space to nail the next fool martyr

To ascend you must die
You must be crucified
For our sins and our lies
Goodbye...

Bob Dylan

Masters of War

Come you masters of war
You that build all the guns
You that build the death planes
You that build the big bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks

You that never done nothin'
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it's your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
When the fast bullets fly

Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain

You fasten the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you set back and watch
When the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion
As young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud

You've thrown the worst fear
That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood
That runs in your veins

How much do I know
To talk out of turn
You might say that I'm young
You might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know
Though I'm younger than you
Even Jesus would never
Forgive what you do

Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul

And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand o'er your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead

BANKRUPT ON SELLING

well all the apostles-they're sitting in swings
saying "i'd sell off my savior for a set of new rings
and some sandles with the style of straps that cling best to the era"
so all of the businessers in their unlimited
hell where they buy and they sell and they sell all their
trash to each other but they're sick of it all
and they're bankrupt on selling
and all of the angels
they'd sell off yer soul for a set of new wings and anything gold
they remember
the people they loved their old friends
and i've seen through'em all seen through'em all and seen through most everything
all the people you knew were the actors
all the people you knew were the actors
well, i'll go to college and i'll learn some big words
and i'll talk real loud
goddamn right i'll be heard
you'll remember all the guys that said all those big words he must've
learned in college
and it took a long time
i came clean with myself
i come clean out of love with my lover
i still love her
loved her more when she used to be sober and i was kinder

I would have to say Chicks on Speed - We Don't Play Guitars the song just wreaks GENIUS!

---------------------------start------------------------------
We always thought that we were not a rock n roll band but it sure feels
like rock n roll over here tonight

We don’t play guitars x 3

We´re standing on stage with our microphones, but we don’t play guitars
Got the sherman up here with us, no we don’t play guitars

We don’t play guitars
Can you play guitar?
We don’t play guitars
said can you play guitar?
We don’t play guitars
We don’t play guitars

We´re standing on stage with a microphone but we don’t play guitars
Got the Sherman up here with us, no we don’t play guitars

We don’t play guitars
We don’t play guitars
said can you play guitar?

We can go shopping in the supermarket but we don’t play guitars
We shop more than other people, we don’t play guitars
Can you play guitar?
Can you play guitar?

Were standing in Tobi´s studio but we don’t play guitars
Neither do kiki or Melissa
No we don’t play guitars

We like to use gaffa tape but we don’t play guitars
Give us your gaffa tape, we don’t want your guitars

We don’t play guitars
We don’t play guitars
No we don´t play guitars

(Peaches): you may not play guitars but I do!
You know, maybe COS don’t play guitars but
P.E.A.C.H.E.S plays guitar
I play guitar, that’s right
I play guitar
Well you may not play guitar but I play guitar
And I love it!

We like using gaffa tape but we don’t play guitars
Give us your gaffa tape cos we don’t play guitars
Can you play guitar?

We don’t play guitars
We don’t play guitars
We don’t play guitars
We don’t play guitars
--------------------------------end------------------------------

But you have to imagine it with a whole lot of wailing and screaming because that's when it's at its best ;)

Monday night, to the club
Tuesday night, to the club
Wednesday night, what a headache
But I went, to the club
Thursday night, to the club
Friday night, I didn’t wanna go
Then my friend Michel called me on the phone,
And so I went, to the club
Saturday night, to the club
Sunday night, to the club
(3x)

Club, club, club, club…

To the club, to the club, to the club
To the club, to the club, to the club
To the club, to the club, to the club
To the club, to the club, to the club

Another Time, Another Place - Sandi Patty

I've always heard there is a land
Beyond the mortal dreams of man
Where every tear will be left behind
But it must be in another time

There'll be an everlasting light
Shining a purest holy white
And every fear will be erased
But it must be in another place

I've grown tired of earthly things
They promise peace but furnish pain
All of life's sweetest joys combined
Can never match those in another time

And though I put my trust in Christ
And felt His spirit move in my life
I know it's truely just a taste
Of His glory in another place

CHORUS:
So I'm waiting
For another time and another place
Where all my hopes and dreams will be captured when I can look at Jesus' face
Sometimes I can hardly wait for that sweet, sweet someday
When I'll be swept away
To another time and another place

what you don't like "We Don't Play Guitars"? I suppose you really have to hear it though, to capture the true essence of the song
Oh no, the "We Don't Play Guitars" is clearly genius, but even that glorious piece of art must bow to the superiority of "To the Club". Brings me to tears just thinking about it.

Ballad of a Thin man by Bob Dylan

"Now you see this one-eyed midget
Shouting the word "NOW"
And you say, "For what reason?"
And he says, "How?"
And you say, "What does this mean?"
And he screams back, "You're a cow
Give me some milk
Or else go home"

Because something is happening here
But you don't know what it is
Do you, Mister Jones?"

Paul Simon - You can Call me Al

A man walks down the street
It's a street in a strange world
Maybe it's the Third World
Maybe it's his first time around
He doesn't speak the language
He holds no currency
He is a foreign man
He is surrounded by the sound
The sound
Cattle in the marketplace
Scatterlings and orphanages
He looks around, around
He sees angels in the architecture
Spinning in infinity
He says Amen! and Hallelujah!

And finally the best damn love song ever....

I’m Your Man
If you want a lover
I’ll do anything you ask me to
And if you want another kind of love
I’ll wear a mask for you
If you want a partner
Take my hand
Or if you want to strike me down in anger
Here I stand
I’m your man

If you want a boxer
I will step into the ring for you
And if you want a doctor
I’ll examine every inch of you
If you want a driver
Climb inside
Or if you want to take me for a ride
You know you can
I’m your man

Ah, the moon’s too bright
The chain’s too tight
The beast won’t go to sleep
I’ve been running through these promises to you
That I made and I could not keep
Ah but a man never got a woman back
Not by begging on his knees
Or I’d crawl to you baby
And I’d fall at your feet
And I’d howl at your beauty
Like a dog in heat
And I’d claw at your heart
And I’d tear at your sheet
I’d say please, please
I’m your man

And if you’ve got to sleep
A moment on the road
I will steer for you
And if you want to work the street alone
I’ll disappear for you
If you want a father for your child
Or only want to walk with me a while
Across the sand
I’m your man

If you want a lover
I’ll do anything you ask me to
And if you want another kind of love
I’ll wear a mask for you

Done by the master Leonard Cohen, and right there, with Cohen, Dylan and Simon you have the three best lyricist ever... According to me.

Back and forth, I sway with the wind
Resolution slips away again
Right through my fingers, back into my heart
Where it's out of reach and it's in the dark
Sometimes I think I'm blind
Or I may be just paralyzed
Because the plot thickens every day
And the pieces of my puzzle keep crumblin' away
But I know, there's a picture beneath
Indecision clouds my vision
No one listens...

Because I'm somewhere in between
My love and my agony
You see, I'm somewhere in between
My life is falling to pieces
Somebody put me together

Layin' face down on the ground
My fingers in my ears to block the sound
My eyes shut tight to avoid the sight
Anticipating the end, losing the will to fight
Droplets of "yes" and "no"
In an ocean of "maybe"
From the bottom, it looks like a steep incline
From the top, another downhill slope of mine
But I know, the equilibrium's there

Indecision clouds my vision
No one listens
Because I'm somewhere in between
My love and my agony
You see, I'm somewhere in between
My life is falling to pieces
Somebody put me together

I know Chelsea Hotel and Suzanne and So Long Marianne are also awesome songs by him... As a lyricist he was awesome. Simon has a brilliant song that he wrote the lyrics and Phillip Glass wrote the music for... It is a 9 minute song about a Humm on the wall, I just figured that it is so simplistic in its lyiric beauty, that it really has to be listened with the performer, and the Glass music to really understand the beauty of Simon's lyrics.

Burning Times ~ Livesay

It began with a vicious lie
Madness swept through the winter sky
Pointing an icy finger at those they thought should die

"The devil lives within," they'd say
Shackled and bound, they were led away
Caged with no hope for justice, their sanity decayed

And the gallows claimed their prize...the blood of the innocent
The hate spread like pollution
And the tears fell from their eyes
One by one they died
There would be no absolution

Panic ruled the village court
Cast a shadow on Salem's port
Fanning the flames of anger and stretching patience taut

Justice served to suit their needs
Accused of evil deeds
They're sacrificial lambs for the pious wolves to feed

The Trials
They had no voice
They suffered through the Burning Times
The hangman
He gave no choice
Their souls lost to the Burning Times

So to the wolves they all were thrown
Seeds of ignorance were sown
Till one day the finger turned and accused one of their own

All at once they began to hear
Cries that fell upon deafened ears
Now they gave in to reason and stopped the reign of fear

Fort Minor feat. Styles of Beyond and Black Thought of The Roots - Right Now

[Verse 1]
[Mike Shinoda]
Someone right now is leaving their apartment
Looking down at the street wondering where there car went
Someone in the car sitting at a signal
In front of a restaraunt staring through the window
At someone right now with their finger in their teeth who could use a little floss
Right across the street theres somebody on the curb who really needs a jacket
Spent half the rent at a bar getting plastered
Now hes gotta walk fourteen blocks to work at a shop where hes about to get fired.
Someone right now is looking pretty tired
Staring at a laptop trying to get inspired
Somebody living right across the street
Just wrote the best things shes written all week
But her best friends coughing up blood in the sink
He can’t even think what happened
Feeling so confused
And he knows it looks bad but there’s nothing he can do
I wonder what its like to be right there in his shoes

[Chorus]

[Verse 2]
[Ryu]
Somebody right now is dropping his vote
Inside a box and trying not to get shot in his throat
For the act of freedom
Right now somebody is stuck in Iraq hoping that he gets shipped back breathing
In a war that hes not really sure of the reasons
So we show our support when the press mislead them
Though we more then remain proud and salute the troops
Get some I know you boys got some work to do

[Tak]
Meanwhile, right now someones 25 to life
And is standing on the corner with their thumb up hitchiking
Scratching off a lotto ticket hoping for a real winner
Sneaking through the border just to work and to eat a real dinner
Right now someone wishes they were you and I
Instead of second guessing freedom thoughts of quiet suicide
But right now im staring at the window at a frame
With holes in his arm and holes in his jeans
He pulled out his cigarette, sparked the light
And walked right around the corner just outta my sight

[Chorus]

[Verse 4]
[Black Thought]
Right now somebody sitting in the darkness
Trying to figure out how to put some heat in their apartment
But they got a little matress, little carpet
And they appreciate it cause some people on a park bench
You seem them when you rushing to get to the office
Wife robbed blind when she coming from the market
Right now somebody coming out from the pocket
Trying to dump that rock they run around the block with
At the same time the cops is raising the glock with aim to fill your legs and back with some hot ****
Right now somebody struggling to stop this man, who’s kicking and punching and cussing at the doctors
Down the hall the child taking his first breath
The doctors aint even passed him to the nurse yet
Yo I wonder if he understands what its worth yet
Like the time spent while we here on the earth yet
The answer to the question that we all seek
Can be found, it depend on how free y'all think
Right now its somebody who aint eat all week
That would kill for the **** that you throw away in the street
I guess one man’s trash is the next mans treaure
One man’s pain is the next mans pleasure
One say infinity the next say forever
Right now erbody got to get it together

[Chorus]

[Repeat fades out]

Whether you like Hip-Hop or not, I suggest you all hear that song.

The Master...and Dylan. Two of the lyricist/poets of all time.

My son is named after Bob Dylan and Dylan Thomas...and his kids middle names are Morgan and McKenzie (corruptions on Muddy Waters name, who died the day their dad was born!) Sorry for that brief hijack.

Blind Faith ~ Dream Theater

Hear me speaking, asking why I even bother
Tell me, how you live from day to day

Take your time and look around
Is this utopia you've found

Sick of all of this suffering and we just carry on
Isn't it time we care and lose the hate
Understand our fears

But we do all that we can
Justify the means to an end
Sorry you must excuse me
I've painted my own Mona Lisa
She's fixed everything
Now I'm spoiled beyond my wildest dreams

Blind Faith we have in you
Invisible
Which direction do we choose
Predictable

Take the streets, the beaten path
Our system works for whom I ask
Yeah I have it all
The bigger house
An iron fence to keep you out

When did we all let you down
So come Messiah show us how how
Our human spirit drowns
Don't think you hear me now
No sign of you around
What is it you hope to see

Blind Faith we have in you
Invisible
Which direction do we choose
Predictable
Give us something we can use
Desirable
Cause you've done all you can do
Regrettable

And still life pushes on
With or without you
We've got to carry on
Our will, will guide us to
A place where we belong
Know there lies the truth
I am the believer who gives purpose on to you

I don't think we let you down
So come Messiah show us how how
Throw us a pure lifeline
I hope that you hear me
Too proud to be around
There's more to us than we see now

Blind Faith we have in you
Invisible
Which direction do we choose
Predictable
Self ignorance, abuse
Desirable
Cause you've done all you can do
Incredible

The Rock That Makes Me Roll
by Stryper

They say that rock and roll is strong
But God's the rock that makes us roll
Don't need no drugs to help us push on
We've got his power in our souls

Stand up and fight
For what you believe in
We know...

He's the rock that makes us roll
Rockin' all the world
Giving me the courage to be bold
Giving me just what I need
Always guaranteed
He's the rock that makes me roll - rock'n'roll

You say that rock and roll is strong
Yes, God's the rock that makes us roll
Don't need no drugs to help you push on
You can have His power in your soul

Anything written by Kurt Cobain is amazing.

Load up on guns and bring your friends
It's fun to lose and to pretend
She's over bored and self assured
Oh no, I know a dirty word

Hello, hello, hello, how low?

(chorus)
With the lights out it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mulatto
An albino
A mosquito
My Libido
Yay!

I'm worse at what I do best
And for this gift I feel blessed
Our little group has always been
And always will until the end

Hello, hello, hello, how low?

(chorus)

And I forget just why I taste
Oh yeah, I guess it makes me smile
I found it hard, it was hard to find
Oh well, whatever, nevermind

hello, hello, hello, how low?

(chorus)
With the lights out it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mulatto
An albino
A mosquito
My Libido
A denial...

She eyes me like a Pisces when I am weak
I've been locked inside your Heart-Shaped box four whole weeks
I've been drawn into your magnet tar pit trap
I wish I could eat your cancer when you turn black

Hey
Wait
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
Hey
Wait
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
Hey
Wait
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
Your advice

Meat-eating orchids forgive no one just yet
Cut myself on angel's hair and baby's breath
Broken hymen of your highness I'm left black
Throw down your umbilical noose so I can climb right back
Also, youth of the nation by POD is amazing.

Last day of the rest of my life
I wish I would've known
Cause I didn't kiss my mama goodbye

I didn't tell her that I loved her and how much I care
Or thank my pops for all the talks
And all the wisdom he shared

Unaware, I just did what I always do
Everyday, the same routine
Before I skate off to school

But who knew that this day wasn't like the rest
Instead of taking a test
I took two to the chest

Call me blind, but I didn't see it coming
Everybody was running
But I couldn't hear nothing

Except gun blasts, it happened so fast
I don't really know this kid
Even though I sit by him in class

Maybe this kid was reaching out for love
Or maybe for a moment
He forgot who he was
Or maybe this kid just wanted to be hugged
Whatever it was
I know it's because

[chorus:]
We are, We are, the youth of the nation

Little Suzy, she was only twelve
She was given the world
With every chance to excel

Hang with the boys and hear the stories they tell
She might act kind of proud
But no respect for herself

She finds love in all the wrong places
The same situations
Just different faces

Changed up her pace since her daddy left her
Too bad he never told her
She deserved much better

Johnny boy always played the fool
He broke all the rules
So you would think he was cool

He was never really one of the guys
No matter how hard he tried
Often thought of suicide

It's kind of hard when you ain't got no friends
He put his life to an end
They might remember him then

You cross the line and there's no turning back
Told the world how he felt
With the sound of a gat

[chorus]

Who's to blame for the lives that tragedies claim
No matter what you say
It don't take away the pain

That I feel inside, I'm tired of all the lies
Don't nobody know why
It's the blind leading the blind

I guess that's the way the story goes
Will it ever make sense
Somebody's got to know

There's got to be more to life than this
There's got to be more to everything
I thought exists

You were supposed to be my dog
Homey when I first met you what was told to me was fraud
What a shocker an imposter, I been crossed I lost ya
My best friend turned out to be an enemy the sin in me hit me
No sympathy no empathy either, Homey I never denied ya

Nothing that you wanted women, I never player hated I hooked
You up booked you up from the beginning the sin in me had
Love for you shed blood for you when you wanted to dig
I dug for you nigga, But you a double crosser nasty hand tosser
I should've known you was evil, when you told me it was cool
For we to be sex fools when we under the steeple the retrieval

I'm trying to get my life back no more stopping women
From putting a knife at your cap remember when we were
Kickin' it ******* was giving everyday we did it in
Everyway, but the respect went away you got a mind of
Your own now you're grown now can I ask you a question
Did you forget we were kinfolk nigga we the same complexion
I'm stressing

You was always in front of me so I listened everyday
You wanted me on a mission I even let you have sex
With my lady like a g. infatuated with you and not me
I sucked it up; I got back with her you ****ed it up
By letting her know I creeping around with every chick in the
Town buster, I should've known not to trust you

Listen I'm losing my life because of you
I lost my life because of you; I'm losing my wife because of you
I even had sex and a baby with that crazy ***** you introduced me to
Now I'm straight depressed, I hate your flesh
The fate was just, belate the Tech laid to rest
Every time you got drawls you made my
Poor little life fall nigga you got balls

You ain't never had a partner like me, real a never
Ever sold you pipe dreams personal yes it might seem
Nigga when you was burning, I went and got the doxcycline
Looked out for your health, and this is all the respect
I get hater your neck I slit but I can't cause I'm
Attached to ya and I don't know why sometimes I wish
You would just die

It would eliminate all this hurt maybe I could
Get up out of all this dirt you caused me so strong
Nothing can stop ya not even cerebral pawlsy I can't believe
It my best homey turned on me you must have forgot
We grew up together I'm thru life is over now it's
Nothing else to do point the finger and blame it on you

[Chorus]
It's all because of you, you, you. I lost my girl, my world
Is upside down because I found you wasn't ****.
It's all because of you, you, you. Broke us into you untrue
Don't know what to do I'm talking to you, who?
My dick!
My dick!
My dick!
My dick!

Now I am no big rap buff who suggests that only rap music has meaning. Nor am I an anti-rap member like some of those here. I truly listen to nearly ALL types of music, and have respect for all types of musicians. One of my favourite being a rapper named Tech N9ne from Kansas City, Missouri. He is bit of an underground artist but had a video on MTV, and some songs with Tupac, Eminem, Dr. Dre, D12, QD3, etc. This song is called Worst Enemy, and I am sure most of us gentlemen can relate, I think we have all been caught in situations thinking with the wrong head (pun intended). That is basically what this song is about, slips and falls thanks to the urge that never goes away.

And if you haven't figured it out, at the end when he asks who he is talking tom the answer he returns is exactly who he is talking about. Or at least that is how I have perceived it...

Laying here looking at the ceiling
Someone lays a sheet across my chest
Something warm is flowing down my fingers
Pain is flowing all through my back

I try to move my arms and theres no feeling
And when I look I see theres nothing there
The face beside me stopped it totally bleeding
The girl I knew has such a distant stare

I remember
We were flying along and hit something in the air
I remember
We were flying along and hit something in the air

Then I looked straight at the attendant
His face is pale as it can be
He bends and whispers something softly
He says theres no chance for me

I remember
We were flying along and hit something in the air
I remember
We were flying along and hit something in the air

BLOODHOUND GANG LYRICS

Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo

Vulcanize the whoopee stick
In the ham wallet

Cattle prod the oyster ditch
With the lap rocket

Batter dip the cranny ax
In the gut locker

Retrofit the pudding hatch
Ooh la la
With the boink swatter

If i get you in the loop when I make a point to be straight with you then
In lieu of the innuendo in the end know my intent though
I brazillian wax poetic so pathetically
I don't wanna beat around the bush

Foxtrot Unifrom Charlie Kilo
Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo

Marinate the nether rod
In the squish mitten

Power drill the yippee bog
With the dude piston

Pressure wash the quiver bone
In the ***** wrinkle

Cannonball the fiddle cove
Ooh la la
With the pork steeple

If i get you in the loop when I make a point to be straight with you then
In lieu of the innuendo in the end know my intent though

I don't wanna beat around the bush

You're the Top by Cole Porter(Partial):

At words poetic, I'm so pathetic
That I always have found it best,
Instead of getting 'em off my chest,
To let 'em rest unexpressed.
I hate parading my serenading
As I'll probably miss a bar,
But if this ditty is not so pretty,
At least it'll tell you how great you are.

You're the top! You're the Colosseum,
You're the top! You're the Louvre Museum,
You're a melody from a symphony by Strauss,
You're a Bendel bonnet, a Shakespeart sonnet,
You're Mickey Mouse.
You're the Nile, You're the Tower of Pisa,
You're the smile on the Mona Lisa.
I'm a worthless check, a total wreck, a flop,
But if, Baby, I'm the bottom,
You're the top!

You're the top! You're Mahatma Gandi.
You're the top! You're Napolean brandy.
You're the purple light of a summer night in Spain,
You're the National Gall'ry, You're Garbo's sal'ry,
You're cellophane.
You're sublime, You're a turkey dinner.
You're the time of the Derby winner.
I'm a toy balloon that is fated soon to pop.
But if, Baby, I'm the bottom, you're the top

You're a boon,
You're the dam at Boulder,
You're the moon...over Mae West's shoulder.
I'm a nominee of the G.O.P
or GOP,
But if, Baby, I'm the bottom,
You're the top!"
Anything Goes by Cole Porter (Partial)

Times have changed
And we've often rewound the clock
Since the puritans got a shock
When they landed on plymouth rock.
If today, any shock they should try to stem,
'stead of landing on plymouth rock,
Plymouth rock would land on them.

In olden days a glimpse of stocking
Was looked on as something shocking
Now heaven knows, anything
Goes

Good authors too who once knew better words
Now only use four letter words writing
Prose
Anything goes

The world has gone mad today
And good's bad today
And black's white today
And
Day's night today
When most guys today that women prize today
Are just silly gigolos

So though i'm
Not a great romancer
I know that you're bound to answer
When I propose, anything goes

Stardust by Hoagy Carmichael:

Sometimes I wonder why I spend
The lonely nights
Dreaming of a song
That melody haunts my reverie
And I am once again with you
When our love was new
And each kiss an inspiration
Ah, but that was long ago
Now my consolation
Is in the stardust of a song

Beside a garden wall
Where stars are bright
You are in my arms
That nightingale tells its fairy tale
of paradise where roses grew
Though I dream in vain
In my heart it will remain
my stardust melody
The memory of love's refrain. Ah, but that was long ago
Now my consolation
Is in the stardust of a song

"Rock and Roll, Part 2" by Gary Glitter.

Seriously, I love the lyrics from James Taylor's "Fire and Rain". Great song.

"Just yesterday morning they let me know you were gone
Susanne the plans they made put an end to you
I walked out this morning and I wrote down this song
I just can't remember who to send it to

I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you again

So won't look down upon me, Jesus
You've got to help me make a stand
You've just got to see me through another day
My body's aching and my time is at hand
And I won't make it any other way

woh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you again

I’ve been walking my mind to an easy time
My back turned towards the sun
Lord knows when the cold wind blows it’ll turn your head around
Well, there’s hours of time on the telephone line
To talk about things to come
Sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the ground.

woh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you, baby, one more time again, now

Thought I'd see you one more time again
There's just a few things coming my way this time around, now
Thought I'd see you, thought I'd see you fire and rain, now"

Turns out Susanne was a friend that committed suicide. Makes it even more powerful. My favorite lines are bolded.

I missed him, but really good too, Mr. Lou Reed.

Holly came from Miami, F.L.A.
Hitch-hiked her way across the USA
Plucked her eyebrows on the way
Shaved her legs and then he was a she
She says, Hey babe
Take a walk on the wild side
Hey honey
Take a walk on the wild side

Candy came from out on the Island
In the backroom she was everybody's darlin'
But she never lost her head
Even when she was giving head
She says, Hey babe
Take a walk on the wild side
I Said, Hey baby
Take a walk on the wild side
And the colored girls go
doo do doo do doo do do doo..

Little Joe never once gave it away
Everybody had to pay and pay
A hustle here and a hustle there
New York City's the place where they say,
Hey babe, take a walk on the wild side
I said, Hey Joe
Take a walk on the wild side

Sugar Plum Fairy came and hit the streets
Lookin' for soul food and a place to eat
Went to the Apollo
You should've seen em go go go
They said, Hey shuga Take a walk on the wild side
I Said, Hey babe
Take a walk on the wild side
All right, huh

Jackie is just speeding away
Thought she was James Dean for a day
Then I guess she had to crash
Valium would have helped that bash
Said, Hey babe,
Take a walk on the wild side
I said, Hey honey,
Take a walk on the wild side
and the colored girls say,
doo do doo do doo do do doo

Freddy Mercurys lyrics in this song were perfect and his voice just as good ;)

Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody

Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
No escape from reality
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go
A little high, little low
Anyway the wind blows, doesn't really matter to me, to me

Mama, just killed a man
Put a gun against his head
Pulled my trigger, now he's dead
Mama, life had just begun
But now I've gone and thrown it all away
Mama, ooo
Didn't mean to make you cry
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on, as if nothing really matters

Too late, my time has come
Sends shivers down my spine
Body's aching all the time
Goodbye everybody - I've got to go
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth
Mama, ooo - (anyway the wind blows)
I don't want to die
I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all

I see a little silhouetto of a man
Scaramouch, scaramouch will you do the fandango
Thunderbolt and lightning - very very frightening me
Gallileo, Gallileo,
Gallileo, Gallileo,
Gallileo Figaro - magnifico

But I'm just a poor boy and nobody loves me
He's just a poor boy from a poor family
Spare him his life from this monstrosity
Easy come easy go - will you let me go
Bismillah! No - we will not let you go - let him go
Bismillah! We will not let you go - let him go
Bismillah! We will not let you go - let me go
Will not let you go - let me go (never)
Never let you go - let me go
Never let me go - ooo
No, no, no, no, no, no, no -
Oh mama mia, mama mia, mama mia let me go
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me
for me
for me

So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye
So you think you can love me and leave me to die
Oh baby - can't do this to me baby
Just gotta get out - just gotta get right outta here

Ooh yeah, ooh yeah
Nothing really matters
Anyone can see
Nothing really matters - nothing really matters to me

Anyway the wind blows...

Hott verse from Eminem. Track is called "Jealousy Woes"....

"I used to be a puppet and a sucker for your silent treatments
I used to be intoxicated with your sweet sense
Until the day I started following your feetprints
And tapping in your phone conversations through the heat vents
It made complete sense, there's someone else you like
So I confronted you and asked you who was Mike?
And you was like, (sampled) "I need a new ni**a*"
Someone rich that I could follow
And you'll be over me by the time you see tomorrow
Leaving me in sorrow, Brandy never felt so broken hearted
I fell apart when you departed then the joking started
I was an open target, you play comedian
And I became the laughing stock. but now I'm on my feet again
And so we meet again, your acting like an ex-wife
All in my sex life, I got a message from Phife
He goes, "You didn't want me to see you then, I don't want you now"
Take a towel, wipe your brow, quit trying to hunt me down
You run me down and now your trying to apologize
For all the lies and everytime you made me ball my eyes
Because I got a bigger wallet size, you wanna swing it
Jealousy is in the house ya'll, Fellas sing it..."

You know....I like a lot of rap music. Honestly thjough...there is very little rap that can lyrically hold up in a discussion like this. I know it's just my opinion. Here's one rap song though.....

Wu Tang Clan > I Can't Go To Sleep

[Ghostface Killah]
Technique is ill son, watch how I spill one
Peace to Biggie Tupac Big L and Big Pun
Havoc on the streets of Staten, snitches
House ni**az children watch as they produce the same pattern
Somebody raped our women, murdered our babies
Hit us with the cracks and guns in the early 80's
FOR THOSE THAT MURDERED ME SHALL STAND BEFORE GOD
TO FALL AT THE HANDS OF FATE, THEN OUT COMES THE ROD
Bring it back, bring it back, bring it back,
bring it back, bring it back.. [*record run backwards*]

What the fu*k is goin on? I can't go to sleep
Feds jumpin out they jeeps, I can't go to sleep
Babies with flies on the cheeks, it's hard to go to sleep
Ish bowled two sixes twice, I couldn't go to sleep
Aiyyo we deep in the stairs, we carry (?) guns
(?) got, hit up with the big sh*t, bam-bam
Stop at the cheeba spot, then pass the leak spot
So past y'all ni**az again, you took a cheap shot
Not knowin ****IN WITH ME, you get your meat chopped
YOU THOUGHT WE FELL ON OUR FACE? YOU NEED TO BE STOPPED
CALL ON THE CHARIOTS, CALL ON AN AMBULANCE
YOU BETTER SMILE MY NIGGA, YOU ON CANDID CAM
Gangsta broad, these be the laws, walk with big balls
Ni**a motherfu*kin eunuch, I even take which was yours
I'm the nigga that made you man
When your rap wasn't doin well, I'm the ni**a that gave you a hand!

[Isaac Hayes]
Don't kill your brother, let's love each other
Don't get mad.. cause it ain't that bad
Just be who you are.. you've come so far
It's in your hands, just be a man
Get the jelly out your spine!
Cobwebs, out of your mind

[RZA]
I can't go to sleep, I can't shut my eyes
They shot the father of his moms, killed him seven times
They shot Malcolm in the chest front of his little seeds
Jesse watched, as they shot King on the balcony
They spat at Marcus, Garvey cause he tried to spark us
with the knowledge of ourselves, and our forefathers
Ohh Jacqueline you heard the rifle shots cracklin
Her husband head in her hair, you tried to put it back in
AMERICA'S WATCHIN, BLOOD STAINED INK BLOTCHES
MEDGAR TOOK ONE TO THE SKULL FOR INTERGRATING COLLEGE
WHAT'S THE SCIENCE? SOMEBODY? THIS IS TRICK KNOWLEDGE
THEY TRY TO KEEP US ENSLAVED AND STILL SCRAPE FOR DOLLARS
Walkin through Park Hill, drunk as a +FU*K+
Lookin around like, these +DEVILS+, I'm ready to break this world down
They got me trapped up in a metal gate, just stressed out with hate
And just, give me no time to relax, and use my mind to meditate
What should I do? Grab a blunt or a brew?
Grab a two-two and run out there AND PUT THIS FU*KIN VIOLENCE IN YOU?
I can't go to sleep, I can't shut 'em son.. I..

[Isaac Hayes - overlapping RZA at the end]
Don't like the game, ni**a use your head
You should be callin the shots instead
The power is in your hands..
Stop all this cryin, and be a man

Ladies and gents....I give you the best lyric EVER....

What A Wonderful World ~ Louie Armstrong (written by George Weiss & Bob Thiele)

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

The colours of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shakin' hands, sayin' "How do you do?"
They're really saying "I love you"

I hear babies cryin', I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll ever know
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world
Yes, I think to myself, what a wonderful world

LED ZEPPELIN LYRICS

"Since I've Been Loving You"

Working from seven to eleven every night,
It really makes life a drag, I don't think that's right.
I've really, really been the best of fools, I did what I could.
'Cause I love you, baby, How I love you, darling, How I love you, baby,
How I love you, girl, little girl.
But baby, Since I've Been Loving You. I'm about to lose my worried mind, oh, yeah.

Everybody trying to tell me that you didn't mean me no good.
I've been trying, Lord, let me tell you, Let me tell you I really did the best I could.
I've been working from seven to eleven every night, I said It kinda makes my life a drag.
Lord, that ain't right...
Since I've Been Loving You, I'm about to lose my worried mind.

Said I've been crying, my tears they fell like rain,
Don't you hear, Don't you hear them falling,
Don't you hear, Don't you hear them falling.

Do you remember mama, when I knocked upon your door?
I said you had the nerve to tell me you didn't want me no more, yeah
I open my front door, hear my back door slam,
You must have one of them new fangled back door man.

I've been working from seven, seven, seven, to eleven every night, It kinda makes my life a drag...
Baby, Since I've Been Loving You, I'm about to lose, I'm about lose to my worried mind.

PJ Harvey - Rid Of Me
Artists > PJ Harvey > Rid Of Me
Submitted by shut on December 5, 2001

Tie yourself to me
No one else
No, you're not rid of me
Hmm you're not rid of me

Night and day I breathe
Ah hah ay
Hey, you're not rid of me
Yeah, you're not rid of me
Yeah, you're not rid of me
Yeah, you're not rid of me

I beg you, my darling
Don't leave me, I'm hurting

Lick my legs I'm on fire
Lick my legs of desire

I'll tie your legs
Keep you against my chest
Oh, you're not rid of me
Yeah, you're not rid of me
I'll make you lick my injuries
I'm gonna twist your head off, see

Till you say don't you wish you never never met her?
Don't you don't you wish you never never met her?
Don't you don't you wish you never never met her?
Don't you don't you wish you never never met her?

I beg you my darling
Don't leave me, I'm hurting
Big lonely above everything
Above everyday, I'm hurting

Lick my legs, I'm on fire
Lick my legs of desire
Lick my legs, I'm on fire
Lick my legs of desire

Yeah, you're not rid of me
Yeah, you're not rid of me
I'll make you lick my injuries
I'm gonna twist your head off, see

Till you say don't you wish you never never met her
Don't you don't you wish you never never met her
Don't you don't you wish you never never met her
Don't you don't you wish you never never met her

Don't you don't you wish you never never met her
(Lick my legs I'm on fire)
Don't you don't you wish you never never met her
(Lick my legs of desire)
Don't you don't you wish you never never met her
(Lick my legs I'm on fire)
Don't you don't you wish you never never met her
(Lick my legs of desire)
Don't you don't you wish you never never met her
(Lick my legs I'm on fire)
Don't you don't you wish you never never met her
(Lick my legs of desire)
Don't you don't you wish you never never met her
(Lick my legs I'm on fire)
Don't you don't you wish you never never met her
(Lick my legs of desire)

Lick my legs I'm on fire
Lick my legs of desire
Lick my legs I'm on fire
Lick my legs of desire
