Hello music lovers. The other day I had a disturbing thought. In this hyped up age where the Ipod is king, does this mean the end of a good mixed cd? I am an avid mixed cd DJ and before that mixed tapes. I love making a cd that is in a way a journey of how I am feeling or sometimes just a genre of music I like. I love the care you put into just finding the right mix of songs, especially when making one for a friend or family member. So why not share some of my creations with the Finheaven faithful???:D Anyway I'm going to post some of my favorites that I've made from over the years and encourage others to do the same.

I used to do mix tapes all the time, had dozens of them. My faves were the ones of 80's stuff my brother did for me.

Now you're lucky to find a place to play them...

When iPods don't cost an arm and a leg for a decent one, then maybe it will be king.

When iPods don't cost an arm and a leg for a decent one, then maybe it will be king.

It is a lot when you just look at the price; but when you factor in how much you'll use it - which is ALL THE TIME, EVERYWHERE! you'll realize that you paid less per minute of enjoyment for the iPod than for any other toy you've ever boght, with the possible exception of your car stereo.

Besides, you don't have toi get the top-of-the-line 60gb video...you can still get a 20gb model reasonably and believe me, you'll spend a long while loading it up to capacity.

Most people don't realize how much music 20gb really is.

Oh, I hear you; if I upload every CD in my collection and every one in gLuv'sto my computer, I'll have about 100gb. Add to that 31gb that a friend of mine already put on the big hard drive, and I'll never be able to listen to all that music in 2 years!

And honestly, I don't think I'm even 1/5 of my way through both collections yet.

That's the thing about 60gb though, you can take certain folders out when you tire of them, and shuffle others in, and you really still have more music than it's possible to listen to in a year.

I bought my girlfriend the 2 GIG iPod. It is too sweet.

She asked me to load it up for her before she went back East and after spending about 3 hours making playlists from music on my hard drive (I have about 15 GIG's of music on a seperate hard drive in MP3 format...and it is not even CLOSE to my whole collection) I had her iPod loaded with about 400 songs and that about filled the 2 GIG version....more then enough for her. It turned out to be about 20 hours or so worth of music. I convert my music at a pretty high bit rate so I can't inflate the numbers like Apple does in the commercials.

The thing that I really like is iTunes. Being able to plug the iPod in and delete playlists and add new ones as I make them is fantastic. It is fun actually.

It's gotten me motivated to resume converting my CD collection (I'm at a little over 500 I think....I stopped counting at 400) to MP3 format.

The downside is I'm going to have to go and get myself a third hard drive and spend endless hours converting music...not the most exciting thing to do with my time.

Only complaint I would have is too many slow songs. Needs something like "The Three Little Pigs", "(I Wanna Be Your) Sledgehammer", and/or "Addicted To Love" to liven it up.:goof:

Oh, and Kate Bush... I could listen to her pretty much all day.
