Yeah can't get much worse for them.

Glad he won't be coming back here.

Doesnt he want to run a power running game and deep passing game? I think he was handcuffed here but Im not sure he has the pieces in SF. Gore and Barlow are alright but what else do they really have? Smith looks god awful and their WR corps arent anything to right home about. If Norv can turn that offense and Smith around he will be a head coach candidate again.
If I was Norv Id go to a decent college program and learn how to win. That to me is his problem in the NFL, he gameplans good, he obviously knows offense but he just doesnt know how to win.

After all the debate, I suppose this is no longer an option. Check the espn.com front page for the story.

I am shocked! I can't believe the 49ers are going to go away from the West Coast Offense. The strength of Turner's offense has always been a strong running game coupled with intermediate and deep passes off play-action. I'm sure Alex Smith has the accuracy and the sense of timing it takes to run Turner's offense, but I don't know if he has the arm strength. I'm also shocked that Bill Walsh didn't discourage going away from the West Coast Offense.

Take him off your list for replacements to Linehan. Too bad, he is considered a great OC, not coach. It's unlikely Saban would have offered it to him as he is part of the past...which meens losing mentality.

I like Bagget or Garret

Good move for Norv....he should be able to help Smith out at QB....they had the worst offense in the NFL so he should be given a few years to right the ship.

he is a good OC who likes to establish the run and never gives up on the run
