They have us taking:

1st - Jay Cutler QB Vanderbilt
2nd - Taitusi Lutui OG USC
3rd - Andrew Whitworth OT LSU

My thoughts:
I disagree with the 2nd pick. I believe we'll pick up a top young G in FA and if we land Whitworth in the 3rd, Saban will automatically graduate from petty to Professional Thief!!!

btw - they also have Brandon Marshall rated as the 33rd best WR & going in the 7th rd... NOT AFTER YESTERDAY!!! This guy is now on everyone's radar.

The picks are all right, IF Cutler has a great senior bowl + workouts, but I just can't see us not taking a DB or LB on the first day.

The Dolphins are trying to build a offensive minded team, they went from the 28th best offense in 2004 to the 14th best in 2005, but now that Linehan is gone they need help. Santonio Holmes is another viable option here, and so is Michael Huff but Cutler would be immediate help. Keep in mind, Gus Frerotte completed only 52% of his passes in 2005.

Sounds good.

Love the Taitusi Lutui pick that guy was awsome in the Rose bowl.

Yeah, that's what I meant about the OG selection. We have to draft a DB on the first day. But I guess it all depends on the start of FA and who we sign in feb thru early apr.

Cutler would be an immediate help?

Its funny, in all of the other threads people are saying that there is no way that Cutler will be there at 16. Its a toss up before the Senior Bowl and combine. As far as LB or DB, I think those could easily be addressed via FA... I would like to see us draft a WR in the 3rd.

I would prefer...
1- Jay Cutler
2- Andrew Whitworth
3- Daniel Bullocks

And in the 4th round we should get OLB Pierre Woods.

Really great mock. It would be heard to see the fins pass up on a db in the second (little dissappointed to see Jason Allen and Cromartie off the board by our pick), but if no one is there, then no one is there. Looks like we could have Greg Lee, WR Pittsburgh, or Kelly Jennings, CB Miami in the 3rd if we wanted.

Claude Wroten falling to the end of the 3rd round for some reason I dont see saban taking a guard in the third round and passing on wroten if he still was there. Can you say oversite.

I like

1st round Traded down and grab Jay Culter around the 20 pick
(grabbing a 5th are 4th round pick)

2nd here a reach and I know you guy will eat me alive but here it is any where
Delvin Hester instant field poistion

I dont think there is anyway that defensive minded Saban doesnt take any defensive players on the first day. Our D is pretty strong, but there are still some needs

Their 2nd round draft order is all out of whack.

And in the 4th round we should get OLB Pierre Woods.

He was a huge disappointment this year. He didn't start & he may not even be drafted.

I think Saban has covered his position on reaching for QBs in the first round well enough. If Cutler's a second round talent I don't see Saban reaching for him.

IMO, Whitworth won't be available for us in the 3rd. I would like that draft though, except change Cutler with Huff/Scott/McNeil/Youboty

Andrew Whitworth is HIGHLY overrated in my opinion. Everyone assumes we'll get him because Saban coached him, but IMO that doesn't mean jack squat. Saban listens to one man and one man alone when deciding what OL to draft, and that is Hudson Houck. If Whitworth catches Hudson's eye, fine and dandy we'll draft him. If not, he's off the list, period. And, from having scouted Whitworth, I can say there's not a whole lot to catch Houck's eye. He's not a dominant run blocker, and does not play with good balance in either aspect of blocking. He doesn't look very powerful. Saban told the guy last year NOT to come out early, that he needed another year of learning before he could enter the league. To me, that doesn't sound like the opinion of a guy that can't wait to bring him on board.

WE WILL NOT DRAFT OL EARLY!

It just wont happen. Sorry to all those "experts" who obviously watch lots of college but know nothing about the NFL teams, their coaches or their strengths. This mock may have been realistic before watching any Fins this year, but the OL is NOT our biggest weakness, and even if we need to improve it, it WONT be with two day 1 picks.

Oh ya, and if Michael Huff is there for our first pick, he will be a Fin.

It all depends on who's the big FA we sign this year. Is it Owens, Peterson, Hutchinson, or is it Clements?

Makes sense to me.

At this point in time my best quess would be CB, S, LB, DL or WR for 1st round, maybe 2nd round its the same list with QB added, 3rd round and up you can add OL.

I dont think Cutler will fall that far... his stock is going up right now, not going down...

I also dont think that there is a chance in hell that we dont draft defense in the first 3 rounds... With our needs OLB, DT, and in the secondary... we will definatly address one of them on the first day...

Its about damn time! The kid is a beast! He is a 6'6 WR!

I don't think we should assume that Cutler has an impressive Senior Bowl. He's coming from Vandy...and he's still a raw guy. His natural talent will show, but he's not the coach's son type fantastic mental ability prospect that is going to take to the pro system like a fish in water like Phil Rivers did. I think Brodie Croyle might just do that, though. Honestly you line these guys up and watch them throw, see their arms next to each other, and when all is said and done I wouldn't be surprised if Brodie and Jay end up sort of duking it out a bit for first round standing.

Oh, I didnt say that I assume for him to have a good Senior Bowl... or combine even for that matter. I was just saying, that generally his stock is rising right now, not falling...

Why Do We Have The 19th Pick In Round 2 Instead Of 16th.Because all the 9-7 teams alternate picks so we pick

1. 16
2. 19
3. 18
4. 17 (although i think this can be affected by supplementals?)
No 5th (Wright)
No 6th (Lemon)
7. 18
7. Can't remember who we traded with
7. Can't remember who we traded with

Theres probably a more precise version on nfl.com

Think Saban goes defense 2nd & 3rd, especially if we're playing 3-4 more after bringing in Capers.

1rst: QB Cutler
2nd: NT Watson/OLB Lawson
3rd: DE Henderson (if he can play 3-4 OLB) then SS Bullocks/NT Oshinowo

Wow, what a dream draft that would be. But from the sounds of the Senior Bowl reports, Watson is tearing it up.
