Sony's future as a hardware company and legacy as a media company are both riding on PlayStation 3 — its long-awaited next-generation game console. But the less Sony says about the device, the louder skeptical voices grow.

Now industry observers are wondering when the machine will finally debut and what the price tag will be — both for consumers and for Sony itself.

Give MS credit, they learned from the Xbox/PS2 war. they poured the money into X2 and got it done and put it on the market quick enough to cut Sony's throat. Sony realistically didn't have to the product cycle to release this thing until 2007...

I wouldn't say that yet.

For 1 wait for E3 you got to remember that when ps3 was shown it was a very early alpha things cant just appear. They got to be worked on and I'm sure sony does not want to release a product that has to go for recall. I rather have a good product than a early one. Also sony has alot of exclusives and very popular ones at that so it will sell. I dont see it ever failing.

Also everyone says ps3's online will suck well how do you know no one knows anything really about it. Im sure they are working on a way to rival 360 why fail in the same place twice?

Like I said many games might be under a NDA concerning the ps3 for all we know is they look impressive but they cannot show it. I would wait before E3 before saying much personally.

The only problem with MS is the "shortage".
