I can't take it anymore! All any moment, my browser will redirect it self to this site:

Dont Click!!

When it comes up, 20-30 popups come up. Does this happen to you? What can I do?

Damn, I hate it.

With firefox, is there anyway to block certain sites? Cause I may be able to just block that one.

step 1. stop looking at pr0n sites

step 2. no really stop

step 3. Get some Spyware remover. I recomend the following
a. Spybot
b. Ad-aware
c. Yahoo Toolbar

the one on the yahoo tool bar is great. Has removed stuff that Spybot and adaware was not able to remove.

if after you run them and remove everything you still have problems let me know and ill walk you through hijackthis.

Spyware for Macs? Not likely. I can't believe Allume is marketing it.

try the yahoo tool bar.. the spyware killr on it is awesome. also download Hijackthis (http://www.download.com/HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10379544.html?tag=lst-0-1)
and run a scan and Save the log. This should open up notepad with a log of everything set to start up on your computer. Post the log here. DO NOT REMOVE ANYTHING WITHOUT SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THERE ARE DOING CONSENT. One of Us tech experts will tell you what you CAN remove from the list.

This shows you ussaly if you have a browser Hijacker and lets your remove it.

I use it ALL the time.

I agree on the yahoo toolbar, it was awesome but the extension was messing with my browser - both in IE and FF.

Since we are talking bout computers, I need some help with mine. Sometimes paint will open up by it's self and it will make a little doddle thing, then it will exit out of it. Another thing that opens by it's self is cmd and it types random websites in there and pings them. Do I have a hacker on my computer because the mouse moves without me touching it to open them up.

Remember that by doing a system restore you will be erasing everything from your harddrive...and make sure you have the restore discs that came with your computer

I got hit with spyware about a year ago or so, and I had to get on the phone with microsoft, and we re-set up my computer from a date when I was having a problem, and it was good from there. I had to get some spy ware protection from there, but it all worked out. It took 60.00, and about two hours and we were up and running again. Sorry to here about your problem. I know it stinks.

Ditch the AOL crap...that's 1/2 your problem right there...

The best available is hijackthis...but you gotta be real careful, and know what you're doing with that one...

I saw that hijackthis once. Sometimes the codecs actually get caught up in it all dont they? It pops everything suspected into Notepad, then you erase lines? Erasing a codec could be much worse than having those annoying porn sites pop-up all the time.
I have Symantec corporate that I got from work. It is really nice, but if you have to talk to tech-support, it is gonna be some guy (or girl) in Bahli or West Dehli or somewhere. (Ironic, Symantec is a Peter Norton spin-off).

Because I don't:

step 2. no really stop
.

Sorry Mindwarp. I had to laugh.

Many people think visiting pr0n sites are a waste of time, but apparently it can lead to deep understanding in the techniques of combating spyware.

Of course, I wouldn't know about such things. :foundout:

someone i know is infected with something called "winfixer2005" and i have had a hard time removing it for him....i ran adaware, microsoft's antispam thing, and he has macafee

now the 2 antispywares didn't see it, but over the phone he told me the macaffee saw it but wouldn't let him remove it (something about "check to see if it is write-protected" or something), i read online that it runs at the OS level and that makes it hard to remove

i don't know how long he has had it...months probably.....so i don't think a system restore would solve the problem

anythoughts?

I will recommend two different products.

ewido Anti-Malware (http://www.ewido.net/en/) - Free for 30-days and works amazingly great. It's found many problems that Ad-Aware, MS Anti-Spyware, and Norton all missed.

Panda ActiveScan (http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/ActiveScan.htm) - You'll need to run this with IE as it runs as an ActiveX control, but it's a free scanner. You'll need to pay $15 for the pro version that actually removes any found problems.

These two apps helped identify and remove the SpyAxe malware that was on my comupter recently when the WMF exploit first hit the net.
