This game looks so good. Big article in the latest PSM magazine. Describe it as a cross between Shenmue and GTA, two of my favorite all time games. Can't wait to play it.

Update!

IGN Review http://ps2.ign.com/articles/730/730453p1.html

In addition to grocery stories and fast food chains, you can also visit seedier locations such as strip clubs and pachinko parlors. It's an m-rated game, remember, and you can actually spend your time looking up specific strippers in specific clubs.

Yakuza tells a good story. Not only that, it backs it up with a satisfying combat system and one of the most atmospheric gameworlds so far this year. It takes something as traditional as third person brawling and blends it with a lengthy adventure filled with interesting characters, side-quests and a great sense of style. Fighting can get tedious at times, but furthering the story and uncovering the city's secrets make it worth the effort. Rating=8.2

Not really a leak, not sure if it actually did but IGN had it listed for release Sept. 5th.

I was pretty disappointed with the review on Gamespot....

Yakuza vividly portrays modern Japan and its organized crime families, but it pulls its punches before delivering a truly great action game or a completely satisfying story.

The Good: Great premise that's gone untapped for too long; intense, great-looking hand-to-hand combat sequences are fun for a while; good-sized adventure complete with various side-missions and extras.

The Bad: Convoluted-but-interesting storyline hurt by one too many clichés; fetch-quest mission design results in a lot of running back and forth; combat gets very repetitive, no thanks to the small number of enemy types; noticeably lengthy and frequent loading times.

That sucks. I've wanted a sequel to Shenmue for so long and this looked like the next best thing.

:( Bummer, I had really high hopes for this game.

I'm still hoping for a next gen release of Shenmue. They always said it was so big it would take multiple releases to tell the whole story. Well, theres alot of room on a Blu-Ray disc! :D

Well, that's why I said "sequels." I think I've seen 3 Dynasty Warrior games in a 6 month span before.

Well I finally got my hands on this game. And while my Review skills aren't quite on par with theMor's I will give my overall impressions.

First of, let me start by saying reading about this game and even after playing it, the storyline and general idea behind the game is amazing IMO and has SO much potential. How that translates over into the gameplay however is another story.

It definitely has it highlights, like I mentioned the storyline is pretty cool and the map in general is pretty open to explore and find tons of random things. However, that leads me to my major complaint with the game. You rarely make it a city block without running into some street thug, wannabe gangster, etc... that wants to fight. And you pretty much have no choice. While this is pretty cool in the beginning and helps you master the fighting moves and combos and gets you extra money, when your trying to get somewhere in a hurry and get stopped 3 times on the way to fight some random bum it gets very annoying.

The map does have decent size, and there are tons of buildings and shops you can go into to find stuff.

One of my favorite parts so far was coming across this chick that was getting harassed by a drunk, I step in of course and beat him senseless, she invites me into this bar for a drink, I keep drinking with her as she talks about how strong I am and how she wants to spend the night with me, few drinks later I wake up in the back alley and the drunk that I had previously beat up stands there and laughs at how I got conned. Then I proceed to go back into the bar and wreck the whole staff and get all my money back  Good times!

I've got about 3 hours into the game and probably will stick it out to see how the story ends. Overall, I'd give it about a 7.5/10, mainly because I had really high hopes for this game.
