He will be able to play the NFL game

Because not only is he athletic and a very good passer despite what some people think, he has more desire than 99% of other players Ive ever seen or heard

he played in a very simple offense, like all the great college QBs (leinart excluded).

Not hatin' but VY is out of the top QB's in this draft the least prepared to step in and play QB in the NFL imho.Matt is the only QB in this draft I believe could line up under center opening day in the NFL and have at least a clue of what to do, also jmo.

Alex, you are 15 years old, lol !! You are a good ways behind us!!

But I agree with you, I think he will be able to play in the NFL, but only in an offense geared towards his strengths. I personally don't think he will ever be a pocket quarterback. I believe he is going to end up in Oakland or Arizona.
just my opinion....

His play on the field rminds me of Charlie Ward as it should as Mack Brown offense evolved from Bowdens.

Maybe VY can be a PG? Hows his jumpshot?

He is not NFL ready and he needs to be sit down for about 2 years IMO. He is not NFL ready. He has all the tools and now he just needs to learn how to use them and learn an offense and he need IMO at least 2 years. I have said this long before the Wonderlic

Can you say "SLIDE" or perhaps "OVERRATED" V. Young will NOT be a top 10 pick in this draft and continues to S-L-I-D-E down daily. :sidelol:

Exactly. He has an amazing will, which leads me to believe he not only "will" make it, but "will" make it big.

the question is "will" he be able to understand an NFL playbook or fix his awful mechanics.

Watching him throw at his pro day reminded just how awkward he does throw.

Not only did he have an average Pro Day yesterday, but it was all SCRIPTED as well.

His stock keeps dropping and dropping. If he is going to be drafted in the Top 10, it will be Arizona that gets him at number 10. I've already said before that Arizona would be the best fit for him with the weapons they have offensively (Fitzgerald, Boldin, and Edgerrin James). If Arizona passes on him, then I see him drop to 20-30's, or untill the 2nd round. Oh, and I'm serious. You may laugh at me if you want.

Too many teams have too many other needs and there is alot of 1st round potential position players that doesn't have as many question marks like the ones Vince Young is getting.

Let see what they say in his private work outs.

QB Draft Order:
1. Matt Leinart
2. Jay Cutler
3. Vince Young

his footwork is terrible, too...just goes to show you...cutler has really improved his mechanics during this offseason, and young hasn't done anything. if anything, it's just gotten worse.

Judging from the Saban pic with VY, it looks like Nick may take him at 16 if he falls. Dont think it could happen? Saban likes big mobile QB's.

Yeap. There are always a big deal about Vince even tho you know he won't be a Dolphin.
I was on that line until he showed his skills during Texas' pro day, where his 40 yards dash where slower than expected and he waited until his WR make the cuts, adding many doubters on him.
I think that after the rumors of his low scored test and with Jay Cuttler winning points as a solid pocket QB, Vince may suffer the same kind of luck than Aaron Rodgers and slide to us with that #16 spot.

Young is not that terrible, but Jay Cutler has been moving up his odds and with that is pushing so hard on Vince because every team is always open to draft a franchise QB but also everybody avoids a Ryan Leaf situation.
Cutler is adding points because he did it great while preparing for Senior Bowl, where nobody expected much on him, and he showed solid, natural, confident and very skilled under an NFL-like playbook. His best features were pocket abilities, precision throwing, great timming and excellent arm power.
Vince will have to deal with that and upgrade his mechanicals and somehow show the NFL he's able to be a pocket QB.

:rolleyes2 Why do Young fans always bring up other QBs as their defense? Yeah I prefer Cutler, but realized a long time ago we have no shot at him, nor do we need him now that we have Pep. All I said was his throwing motion was very awkward, which is a solid fact.

Some people like Fishypete and Alex22 have trouble admitting when their WRONG! Cutler has shot up the draft boards because scouts like what they see. Young is dropping because the more they look...the less they like. Speedrush, Boomer, Ck, and other either hinted or in my case flat out predicted this would happen. I just think its pretty pathetic that someone uses the defense that he's a "Cutler lover" just because they commented on VY's obvious awkward throwing motion. One has nothing to do with the other.

Don't get me wrong, Young MAY turn out to be a pretty good pro but he IS a PROJECT. I just don't see someone spending a top 10 pick on him. Unless D. Green at Arizona or the Raiders do. I see Young being this years Aaron Rodgers. Can you say S-L-I-D-E !!!!!!!!!!

http://www.finheaven.com/clear.gif

With all of his secrecy about potential prospects, do you really think that Saban posing for a picture with Young means he is seriously being looked at as a prospect? Saban already has a big, mobile QB. What he doesn't have is the cap space to draft a first rounder like Young when our QB situation is set for at least four more years.

Philter25
03-24-2006, 12:32 PM
Its all PR BS. I dont think Saban has any intentions of drafting a QB high after we just got Culpepper. That would be using our 1st and 2nd rounders on QBs. Saban needs to seem interested in ANY player that might be available at #16.

IMO VY is the next Mcnabb. It took Mcnabb several years to "get it", but now he is certainly a good, successful QB. If you compare VY's and Mcnabb's final college seasons they are almost identical. The differences are that Mcnabb ran a higher % of the time and completed a lower % of his passes (for lower avg. yards). They also had very similar wonderlic scores.

From NFL.com
Following Texas' Pro Day, there was speculation that the players ran on a fast track. It's Gil Brandt's belief that it was not a fast track. Reason? All the players that ran in Indianapolis chose not to run in Texas -- an indication that they felt the track would not be as fast. The 4.57 that Vince Young ran may not be truly representative.

Young had a private workout March 23 with the Tennessee Titans. It started at 9 a.m. Young spent the first hour-and-a-half in a film session, explaining to the coaching staff what he did and why he did it. Then for 45 minutes, Tennessee offensive coordinator Norm Chow conducted a passing drill. Young threw to Titans wide receivers Sloan Thomas, Courtney Roby and Bobby Wade. The word is that Young did very well. Upcoming for Young, he has private workouts with the Ravens (April 2 & 3), Texans (April 6), Jets (April 17 & 18), and tentatively with the Dolphins (April 9 & 10).
