That kind of thing happens way too often. Drunk drivers are attracted to your overheads like a moth to a flame. I was always more worried about traffic during traffic stops than I was by the danger the driver or passenger posed.

There is an old saying in law enforcement; "There is no such thing as a routine traffic stop'

Do we have any idea what happened to the guy? If he wasn't killed, that's amazing. Geez...

I would have to believe everyone was all right. If not, I doubt they would put it on the internet...but now-a-days who knows?

Shoot, alot of people don't even have to be drunk. All you need are flashing lights, especially if they are already on their cell phones. People just don't seems to pay attention when driving, except to everything that they shouldn't.

IIRC the figure I heard was that 260+ cops were struck by third-party vehicles on roadside stops.

In Florida it's so bad that the Troopers are now setting up traps for drivers not obeying the "move-over" law and ticketing them. Sad.

As well they should. It aggravates the heck out of me when I see someone fail to move to the far lane when they pass an officer, a trucker, or anyone that is on the side of the road.

Hell look at the guy all the way to the right bent over. He didn't even get tapped! He just ran away! Now that's the definition of luck, considering he would've taken it right to the noggin.
