"Never gonna give you up, Never gonna let you down"....

He sounded like Barry White but looked like Pee Wee Herman with red hair.

I think he really sang his songs unlike Milli Vanilli.

Tohether Forever, and Never Gonna Give You up are good songs. They used to play on Mega 103.5 before it turned into a rap station.

He had a third hit "Cry for Help". I thought this was his best.
Here's the video. (http://singingfool.com/musicvideo.asp?publishedId=638496)

He sang his own stuff. Also interesting ... we discovered in college that if you took a Kylie Minogue 45 and played it at 33 1/3, it sounded just like Rick Astley.

Is this a trivia question or are there rumors about him faking it? I personally think he sang his own stuff. But then again, I never questioned Milly Vanilly. Rick Astley had a black man's voice trapped in the body of Howdy Doody.

I heard one of the Milli Vanilli guys killed himself after they got found out.

that's not entirely true, he did kill himself but it was long after they got found out.

Now about Rick Astley...let me go back to 1989 when people actually cared and I'll get your answer.

Have to give him a pound for being rare.He looked like Opie but sang like a Motown superstar. This is what happens when you combine the two.Guess he liked hangin' with the brothas.I'm sure he sang his own stuff. He was so rare at the time, nobody would even attempt to market him if it was fake.

Why'd they stop? It doesn't get much more gangsta.

I saw the video for "Never Gonna Give You Up" the other day, and I still can't believe that is his voice. I was just wondering what my fellow FinHeavenites think. If that was his real voice you'd think he'd still be pumping out contemporary adult albums...

To appeal to more people here in Miami, even though there were at least 2 other stations that play rap.
