I would have posted this yesterday, but like many people out there(you should see what is going on some Simpsons boards. ) I didn't believe it because yesterday was April Fools. However, it now looks like it may be true, because major sources are confirming it:

USA Today:

http://usatoday.com/life/movies/news/2006-04-02-simpsons-movie_x.htm

Fox News:

It seems like there was a 25 second preview for the movie in front of the new Ice Age movie. Anybody go see Ice Age and see the Simpsons preview?

If this news is indeed true, the teaser trailers is supposed to air during tonight's episode.

I can confirm it also, was a preview at Ice Age 2. I took my daughter to it yesterday.

It started by showing a Superman logo and then zoomed out to Homer wearing a Superman t-shirt. Then the annoucer says The Simpions Movie is coming. Homer says something like well we better get started making it then. Thats all

maybe the movie will make up for the last 6 or 7 seasons of the show.

I'm a huge Simpsons fan, but there's no denying the show is nowhere near as good as it once was. In fact I sometimes laugh just once during new episodes. (which is more than I laugh at the show that follows it, the godawful The War at Home)

Here's hoping they get all the great writers (Swartzwelder...where are you?!) and make a great movie.

I have known about a Simpsons movie for well over a year now. It is how they are closing out the series. I bet the movie isn't very good either. That show is great, but there is a reason it works in a 30 minute slot.

I don't see how anyone can think the Simpsons is funnier now than in year's past. This year has been funnier than the last couple, but overall, the quality has gone down. To repeating story lines and changing certain characters personal histories, there is no way it has gone up in value.

Having said that, it is still funnier and a better watch than most stuff on TV these days. I still love the show and will watch the movie. The show overall is superb and deserves a nice sendoff.

That's weird, I don't see how anyone cannot. Funny how that works.

To each their own. Like I said, it is still a good show, it just doesn't seem to be as "intelligent" as it was in the past. Plus, they seem to have the same problem as Family Guy as they rely on the same type of jokes over and over again (i.e. first five minutes leads into the main plot, Homer is completely stupid but makes up for it in the end etc. ).

They really do seem to gear their humor more towards the low brow as opposed to the smart, witty barbs they used to bury within the show. That is what made The Simpsons stand out. That and the fact that the entire cast, from Mr. Burns to Bumble Bee Man has a history and background. It makes you connect with about 75-100 characters.

Regardless of what I feel about the show now, it will always be my favorite show ever and you bet your bippy I will be watching the movie in the theatre.

If you go in with those kinda expectations, you will be setting yourself up for disappointment. The greatness that is Sam Jackson beating people with snakes cannot be matched.

considering the show's history of guest stars, this movie will possibly have the most impressive cameo list which wouldnt be complete without Chuck Norris. Gore? Maybe, Blair made one b4.

Opinions of the series as it is now aside, this should be good news for most. The movie will include all original cast and writers according to AICN. They have been talking about doing this for the past decade but wanted to wait until a script was absolutely perfect. AICN also has a real tiny bit of the plot if you want to check it out.

Even though the quality has gone down, The Simpsons is still my favourite show. I'm concerned about the movie idea because most current tv shows turned into movies are only made for money, not quality. The movie better be good cause if its a bad, it could scar its great legacy.

I took my 5 year old daughter and 3 year old son and they loved the movie. I also thought it was pretty good. I found the ending predicable but all in all i thought it was good.
