The local news here interviewed him, parents of other students and fellow students, both Africian American and caucasian. All of those interviewed thought that way too much was being made of it and no offense was intended or taken.

It seems like the newspaper is trying to make it into a big deal and nobody is going along. They are trying to compare it to blackface minstrelsy, which it is nothing like and certainly doesn't appear to be the aim of the student.

linky no worky for me. What happened?

Nevermind. I got it to work. Seriously, what is the big deal? My senior year we had an auction where all the senior students were bidded on by the lower classes an dhad to do whatever they told us. I ended up in a miniskirt, thong, bra and a maxy pad stuck on my butt. To me, that looke dmore offensive than what this kid did.

Some white kid painted himself "black" and wore and afro wig, but it was for "island day" during spirit week and he was just dressing like an aborigine, and nobody cares, not white or blacks, but the media is trying to make it out like its a racial thing. Funny that they are trying that, since everyone seemed to make money from that "black & white" show, which was COMPLETELY over-the-top in sterotyping whites and black, and was WAY more racially-driven than some kid dressing like an ISLAND NATIVE for ISLAND DAY :shakeno:

How did this even make the paper if nobody cared??

Me thinks somebody at the paper/news organization saw it and figured they'd create a buzz.

Thanks for playing. See you next time.
