Thought it would be interesting to hear why you guys have certain favorite songs and if you guys have any memories attatched to those songs??

My favorite song is Hellujah by Jeff Buckley. To me, it's just such an enchanting, whimsical song. It really feels flawless and so incredibly well performed. I listen to this song about five times a day (seriously) and it is currently at 437 plays in my itunes, with the next closest song at 100

he does such a nice version of that leonard cohen song - since jeff died, his mom has been slowly putting out a lot of unreleased stuff - check out live at sine if you can, there's another nice early version of hallelujah on it before he recorded grace - jeff never played the same version twice...

a few of my favorite all-time songs are...

last goodbye - jeff buckley
you turn me on - joni mitchell
goodnight - the beatles
violet - seal

I would have to go with "Imagine" by John Lennon...it is a song about hope.

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

Now how in the hell was anybody supposed to follow this one? :)

Buckley's version of Hallelujah is just........I can't even find the words for how good it is.

Pain of Salvation's "Morning on Earth" kills me everytime. I've grown tired of the album (mostly cuz I played it so much during a period of time when I was miserable), but the album and song describe what I was feeling when I bought it back in 2001.....and what I'm feeling now.

the entire album is really good, basically examining the innocence of childhood and longing for that innocence and what causes people to "stop ticking" years later.

I think it's impossible. I mean, there is so much musice, and just as soon as I say my fav, I'll remember another. The topic does let us see who likes what and their favs, so it's cool. I guess I'd say Born to Run, Sprinsteen

"Would?" - Alice in Chains...I can't really answer a why to that though. The song just brings memories and emotions back to me. It's also a damn cool track.

Honourable mention - "Stinkfist - TOOL", "Galaxie - Blind Melon", "Lounge Act - Nirvana", "Lateralus - TOOL" and "State of Love and Trust - Pearl Jam".

And to steal a line from Rob...there is a 30,959,894 way tie for 3rd place.

Haha. "Would?" was totally my song when I was in Middle School.

It's funny because even though there isn't a bad minute in it, I'm always just like thinking forward to the end the whole time I listen to it, just so I can hear the late Layne (R.I.P.) wail "IFFFFFFFF.......IIIIIIIIIIII.....WOULLLLLLLLLD.........COULDDDDDDDDD.....YOUUUUUUUU???"

I think for me it is just a matter of different moments in my life.. There was a moment where Birima By Yossou N'dour was everything to me. Where the River Goes by STP, Niágara en Bicicleta - Juan luis guerra, Visions of johanna and Just like a Woman by Dylan... And at one point all I could listen to was Walk on the Wild Side by Lou Reed... Damn I loved tha tsong.

If I had to pick one that right now just wont stop running and running in my head it would be Nina Simone's Sinnerman I just feel it is the most epic song ever.

Wow, I could name and name. Music is such an important part of my life. My favorite song can be any particular song that comes up on my playlist. Also according to my mood.
At this moment
Keep on Smiling - Wet Willie
No matter how I feel, I can play it, and find myself eventually lifting up, if at least only for the moment. Great song.

God, this is impossible to list even just a few...well it looks like everyone else has bent the rules, so I will join in...

Sunshine of Your Love-Cream (like the greatest riff ever, both bruce and clapton on vocals, great solo, reminds me of that scene in Goodfellas)
Yellow Ledbetter-Pearl Jam (from the moment you hear it, it's an all-time rock classic...I suppose it sounds a bit like Little Wing, but there's nothing wrong with that)
Since I've been Loving You-Led Zeppeplin (just wanted to list a less obvoius one. It's like the heaviest blues ever)
Imagine-John Lennon (The lyrics....you're listening to one man's dream...holds a lot of value today!)
Let it Be-The Beatles (the melody alone can make you cry)
The Wind Cries Mary-Jimi Hendrix (sentimental sound. My fav Hendrix song at the moment)
Paranoid Android-Radiohead (if you listen to this song alone in the dark, it will make you paranoid too)
H-Tool (kicks A**...my fav Tool song)
Battery-Metallica (simply because it rules and I didn't feel like listing One and Master of Puppets...oh wait, I just did!)
Would?-Alice In Chains (simply for the bass line and the great ending)
Wish You Were Here-Pink Floyd (a timeless classic...my fav Pink Floyd song at the moment)
Baba O'Riley-The Who (a classic...everyone knows it...I love PJ's version too!)

I am cringing knowing that I'm leaving too many out...perhaps, I'll be back!
