So as you guys more than likely know by now who have Sunday Ticket it went up another ten bucks this year. What a load of crap! What makes it so bad is with more prime time games and more strict blackouts we will be getting less games this year.

So as I do alot with Direct TV I called and complained about it hoping to get something knocked off the price. Well they took ten dollars a month off my Starz package for six months. So that makes it 60 dollars cheaper. Not only that they gave me the Super Fan Package for free. How cool is that.

Direct TV will always give you something for free or cheaper if you call and ask. I had them come and install a box in another room about a month ago and they wanted to charge 70 bucks so I whinned and complained a little bit and they did it for free. But the cool part about that is they credited my bill for it but forgot to charge me for it so my bill last month was only 24 dollars.

When I ordered my HD DVR box they said it would cost $549. I asked them if they could give it to me cheaper than that and they gave it to me for $199. I also bought one of those off air antennas for $50. Some how they forgot to bill me for it. They only charged me $14.95 to ship it so I basically got those for free also.

Has anyone else ever did anything like that and got anything for free from them? It also helps to tell them you are thinking about switching to cable or Dish Network from time to time.

Just thought I would let all you Direct TV and Sunday Ticket customers know you may be able to get the Super Fan for free if you try. Enjoy!

the only reason i have DirectV is because of Sunday Ticket.

i would much rather have cable, but i like my football to much.

they know we will pay an extra 10 bucks. so they charge an extra 10 bucks. but what really pisses me off is that if you want teh NFL Sunday Ticket in HD you have to pay out the ***, and then not all the games are shown in HD :fire: .

So call them like I said. If you call and complain I bet they will do something to your bill to make it cheaper for you plus like I said you may get the HD games for free. Never hurts to try. I will every year from now on!

I got some information in the mail yesterday about the Sunday Ticket and it stated there that they will be showing more HD games than they did last year. What's this about stricter blackout restrictions? I haven't heard about that.

Anyway, everything goes up in price but I think it has to have justification. If they are offering the same package as last year with no additional enhancements then I don't agree with a price increase. And the extra HD games don't count becuase you're paying for those HD games by having to pay for the Super Fan package and the HD package. And you can't get that without the Sunday Ticket anyway so that's a tripple screw over.

I live in California, so I will never get a black out. Unless a weird thing happens when the Dolphins play the chargers and my local CBS station plays that game and the fins are either winning or lossing real bad and they break to another game.

But that has happened only once with a Charger game, and it wasn't against the fins, so I'm cool.

$10 extra does suck for less games than a few years ago. But what are you gonna do? DTV is the only place you can get the ticket.

$209 is the early bird special. But like I said they will do something to your bill to make it cheaper if you call and ask. Like I said they took $10 a month for six months off my bill and gave me the Super Fan for free.

By the way teh guy I talked to said that Direct TV has no control over the price of Sunday Ticket. The NFL sets the price of it and they can't do anything about it. He also said they have filed a grievance against the NFL because of the blackouts.

I miss DirecTV and the NFL Channel...but if you complain enough about price increases they will usually throw some other stuff in....any of you ask for the Spice Channels?? I had a H-Card which I had some guy in Canada program for me so I got every channel on DirecTV including all the regional Fox Sports channels, and movie channels....It lasted for about a year before they changed the card programming format.

I called about 2 years ago, and asked for a free tivo, since they were giving them away to new customers. They said no. I said cancel my plan, because dish network was giving them away, and I'd just switch to them. Then they confirmed my address, so they could send me that tivo. I have enjoyed the tivo ever since. :D

On the other hand....... most things they give you involve money in their pockets in the long run.

Tivo..... $5 per month.

That extra receiver Wevie is enjoying....... $5 per month.

What they are giving you, is a little investment for them.

That's right; it's good business, the best kind - where everyone wins a little.

Good to know WeVie thanks for the info, Im now armed for next time I need something from them!!! I use the same tactic for my credit card and car loan, I call them like once a year to lower my interest rate percentage and if they say no, I just go on about how I got an offer from another company that is offering a lower interest rate, and they always pretend to look into their "system" and then transfer me to a "specialist" who then proceeds to go on about how they value my business and will lower my "already low" interest rate!!! Its funny how that stuff works, you just gotta know how to talk to them.

I have did that with my credit cards but I had no idea you could do it with car loan. Do you just call them and tell them you are going to refinance with someone else? I just called to "cancell" one of my credit cards and they gave me 2% cash back if I would not cancell it. So now I just use it for everything instead of my debit card. I already have almost $150 cah back on the card. The only thing that sucks about it is there is a $400 cash back limit per year but that is 400 free bucks a year. You can't beat that!

Nice, that cash back thing sounds nice, I dont think i have that option w/ my credit card, i should check into that. as far as the car loan, its a little diff, I have only refinanced once, and I went into the bank and sat with a person and went over the loan w/ her. I knew what I wanted as far as my % rate and monthly payments and worked it out with her right there. At first she didnt get me what I wanted but since me credit was great and I never made a late payment she was willing to work with me / give in to what I wanted!!! I also told her that I had been talking to another credit union and they had some good rates that I might look into. So it just depends on your credit history and how you deal w/ them, IMO.

My dad called Directv about 8 months ago and told them that we wanted to cancel our service because Dish Network was giving out free Tivo to new customers and they gave up 6 months of Hbo and Cinemax and free Tivo receiver...I had Sunday Ticket last year so when I call to order it this time I'll complain and try to get something for free...lol

If you whine and complain enough you can get most customer service reps to see things your way and get some freebies such as refinancing loans, getting free stuff thrown in. I sent an e-mail to Old El Paso over how they only had ten tacos in a pack, instead of 12 and a couple were cracked and they sent me a bunch of free coupons for salsa, and lots of other products. I also had something wrong with a Sony computer about three years ago and they paid for me to ship it back to them and then sent it back with a $150 coupon towards future Sony products....the good companies do a lot to keep their customers.

NFL Sunday Ticket is $209 The cheapest package is maybe $44.99. It not that cheap but you do get alot of channels so if you don't care about cable then it's worth it.
