They have ten minutes per round, so round three will be over in just a few minutes.

he should be gone by the 3rd or 4th round to the 9ers unless we jump up a round.

Whats maxim radio?

maxim as in the magazine radio. it's a channel on sirius. talks about sports, comedy, women. it's geared to men 18-30.

what round do you think he'll go in?

InMyChambers
07-13-2006, 01:13 PM
the sirius guys are saying ahmed brooks is like a ted johnson from the pats. suited to play the inside in a 3-4. those guys know their ish too.

If we are going to spend a pick to get Brooks it will probably be a 5th or 6th rounder. Saban is not the type of coach to reach for players. He is going to have faith in the system that he uses to evaluate talent and stick to it.

It's not a reach though if you take him in the 3rd. He has the potential, it's not like he doesn't deserve to be drafted in the 3rd like most reaches.

Ted Johnson is a beast. He's was the unsung hero in NE with Bruschi getting all of the glory. He's that plugger type MLB that can take on the guards and tackles with no problem.

right.

Manny Wright was taken in the 5th and Brooks is unquestionably a better prospect than Wright was.

A 3rd or a 4th would be just fine with me.

He does have the potential but if he's coming in through the supplemental draft i would think that you would try to maximize the value you are getting out of him. Manny Wright was taken in the 5th last year but do you think he has 5th round talent? It's about trying to give up the least and getting the most.

Jason Allen had the talent of a first rounder, but everyone projected him to go later because of injuries. Was that a reach? Saban knows good talent, and will take it regardless of situation and circumstances that can be worked through.

That makes sense. Maybe we should have burned that 3rd rounder after all. Berryman anyone?

That's surprising that Saban wasn't willing to give up a 3rd rounder for him.

I hadnt heard they were interested as much as Miami and SF. That makes it suck that much more

I don't think Sabanwill give up no more than a 5th for brooks, everyone in the NFL has potential..... A 3rd might be a reach.

Brooks was the only player taken among seven available in the supplemental draft. The other six became free agents when they were not chosen and may sign with any team.

John Clayton says the rest are free agents.

The other six players in the draft, now free agents, are former North Carolina State running back/wide receiver Richard Washington; Texas defensive tackle Marco Martin; Connecticut offensive lineman Craig Berry; Texas fullback Ahmard Hall; and linebackers Jason Berryman of Iowa State and David Dixon of Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College.

seems like we milked alot out of cincinnatti...that was probably the intention, to make someonce else over-spend. Im just glad it was an AFC competitor.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2518193 (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2518193) wecan probably still get a decent linebacker in dixon or berryman & didn't have to give up a draft pick to do it.

I think so to

BUT

He was supposed to run around a 4.4 and ran something like a 4.78....and only played Divison II football against crappy talent....so there really is no way to tell

He was also listed at 6' 2" but came in a shade under 6' at his pro day. Everyone was expecting a 6-2 245 LB run a 4.4 and pull a 44" vertical. All expectations about this guy flew out the window after a very disappointing workout.

That doesn't make sense on a number of levels, one being that he may have just as much (if not more) of a chance at being a star as he does being a bust.
