i doubt we'll add him to the mix, but in the right scenario he is a solid player...

i have visions of him taking it to the house against Oakland in the Super Bowl

The New Orleans Saints (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=nor) apprised agent Drew Rosenhaus on Thursday that they have abandoned their efforts to trade starting free safety Dwight Smith (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5531), one of their steadiest defenders during a dismal 2005 season, and instead will release the veteran defensive back after just one year with the franchise.

For his career, Smith has appeared in 78 games and started 49 of them. He has 306 tackles, one sack, 14 interceptions, 45 passes defensed, seven forced fumbles and two recoveries. In Tampa Bay's victory over the Oakland Raiders (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=oak) in Super Bowl XXXVII, Smith returned two interceptions for touchdowns.

I think the Bucs might give him a shot.

OMG we have money.

If we were able to get him this would make up for not signing LaVar Arrington.

Please let us go after him.

Dwight Smith and Jason Allen, the Dolphins two starting safeties.
