Mike Martz's offense relied on throwing the ball to "spots" and having the receivers run to the "spots" and catch the ball. Scott, can you keep that system in place? So I can throw to a "spot" on the ground 10 yards away from the receiver and he can run to catch it?

I agree with giving respect to Fiedler and Ferotte. Neither was blessed with great talent but they understood the game and they played hard every day. Fiedler put his body on the line when there was nothing there and kept us in the playoff hunt. Ferotte brought us back to respectabilty and I would have loved to have him back as Daunte's backup. At least with him you know what your getting. With Harrington, even though I think he will be ok, we don't know what he will give us.

Dilfer wasn't a good QB at all, he was surrounded by solid players, like in Baltimore.

C-pep is surrounded by solid players now.

He has no self confidence and he can't run anymore when he holds onto the ball too long (on almost every play) Geez, I'm getting all frustrated again. I have to remember that he's your problem now.

Lets not forget to mention that Culpepper will be playing in Linehans offense, The very same offense that made him a ProBowl QB in the first place.

Let me disspel this nonsense before Blurch vomits it out. Yes Linehan is now in Stl as the head coach for the Rams, but Saban is keeping the same playbook. It will still be Linehans offense!!!!

I don't see it as a problem, he will not have to hang on the ball as long, he is surrounded by a great supporting cast, a soild FB that can provide blindside blocking. A solid tight end, who can turn a 3 yard catch into something big. Soild WR's on the outside, a strong RB and a good solid O-line.

No sh*t Brad Johnson is over the hill, he is 38. If you are counting on him to carry your team to a winning season, you are delusional. The Vikings are not a solid team they are a team in the decline and are a poorly put together team. Their only strength may be their offensive line, that isn't enough to make the playoffs.

And this is the same arguement that the Lions fan came here with about Harrington. :shakeno: Culpepper is now surrounded with NFL talent. He was learning a new system last year before he was injured and that is why he struggled. He is now coming to Miami and will be playing in the same offense that made him a ProBowl QB. To think that he is washed up and a choke artist because he had a down year is completely laughable.

OK MORONS, I'll draw you a picture. Now read this real slow so it sinks in.
I said "If stats were what made a QB great" I didn't say anything about these guys having lousy stats. A lot of QB's have good/great stats, this doesn't make them great QB's. Dilfer's like Johnson. He might not be a hall of famer, but he's not going to lose games for the team. C Pep did this ALL THE TIME.

So he's better because he plays not to lose? That reminds me what Wanny used to say about Ears.

And he went 7-2 as the Viking's starting QB last year, while your new Franchise QB went 2-5.

Grandma Bradette had a weak schedule. That can make any one on a team look bad, like your crappy recievers, RBs defense etc. Not to mention C Pep lost his O coordinator and a key piece of his O line. Now he has more weapons here, much better coaching and a damn Good D. Enjoy the cellar and your masculine women(wait whats the expression?: ''Minnesota where the men are men and where the women are too.'') So they aren't just masculine, they ARE guys, LMAFO. Don't you think that if getting Culpepper to play better were that easy that Mike Tice would have coddled him or brought someone in to do so?

And it sort of worked. Do you remember that during that great year for DC, his team finished 8-8?Oh, no! The team went 8-8! Surely that's never happened to any other great QB! Why, the Cowboys went 6-10 under Aikman in '97, so we better strike him off the list of great QBs. And there goes John Elway, who led the Broncos to a 5-11 record in '90 and 8-8 in '95. Joe Namath's Jests went 7-7 and 3-11 in '74 and '75, so we better cross him off the list as well. And an 8-5-1 in '64 was the only season that the Vikings had more wins than losses in Fran Tarkenton's first six years with the team. Yet somehow, all these QB's managed to get into the HOF. Maybe that's because football is a team game and the record reflects the play of the team as a whole, rather than just one individual.

Last season, before he got hurt, even Daunte's biggest apologists ran out of excuses for him. He's been in the league for 8 years and can't read a defense. He refuses to study game films. He can't find open receivers to save his life. (His own receivers were publicly critisizing him because he was so inept). And to top it all off, he had the worst season of his career last year and blew out a knee, AND THEN demanded a $10 million raise!!!! His big strengths were his ability to throw the ball a mile (sometimes accurately), and his running ability. His running ability is gone, so you better hope he can start finding open receivers. I'm seriously just glad he's gone from here. I feel bad for the Dolphins cuz I really do like your team. Cuz they knew that Brad wasn't going to turn the ball over 5 times a game.Yes, yes, yes, we get the picture. It was all Culpepper's fault that the team was so terrible. It was his fault that Linehan left for the Dolphins and the playcalling of the new OC, Loney, was so bad that he was in danger of being removed from that role by the second week. It was his fault that the Vikes' offense scored their first (and only TD in the first two games) when he ran it in. It was his fault that Vike RBs only had a combined 81 yards in those two games. It was his fault that none of the WR were stepping up and Nate Burleson, who was supposed to be the new #1 WR with the departure of Moss, was playing with a strained knee.

I have to agree with you about the 2nd rounder. That's why Zygi fired Foley after 3 months on the job. But give Childress a chance. He hasn't even coached a single game yet. As far as the o line goes, half the idiots posting in here seem to think that the only reason Culpepper sucked so bad in MN was the crappy O line. You forgot to mention that the 12 turnovers in 5 games weren't Culpepper's fault either. All I know is that if you have a QB that goes from 39 TDs and 11 INTs in one year to 12 turnovers in 5 games the next when he loses his OC and a top 5 WR like Moss, this might indicate that something else might be the problem. Like WRs not getting open, or OL not making good blocks, or maybe he's just trying too hard.

It's a new dawn in Minnesota. Meathead Tice is in Jacksonville, and The Turnover King is in Miami. What more could we ask for in one season?I don't know about you, but I'd ask for better HC replacement than CHILDish, a better director of pro personnel (or whatever his title is) than Spielman, and a younger QB than Johnson.

So you really think that a 2nd rd pick fopr a pro bowl qb is a bad trade? Then how come every expert analyst thinks its a grat trade....hmmmmm...should we believe them or some douche bag that harasses fans on a website that stole his QB and made him jealous......hmmmmmm....I would really really love to go with that douche bag's expert opinion, but you know what?? I'm gonna stick with the experts and our coaching staff!!!!!:D

No one else was even interested in trading away a 2nd round pick for DC. The speculation up here from the "expert analysts" during trade talks was that the Dolphins knew the Vikings wanted to get rid of Culpepper and there was very little interest in him from any other teams. They assumed that the Dolphins would wait until the Vikings flat out released him and pick him up for nothing. You could have saved yourself a 2nd round pick  So much for your coaching staff!

Childress will be coach of the year, not sure why Zygi hired spielman.
Wasn't Spielman responsible for Harrington in Detroit? Oh sorry, I forgot,
he's your soon to be starter.

I will agree with you on that! But how can you trash a guy who took your team to the playoffs multiple times....has been to the Pro Bowl 3 times and has taken your team one game away from a title that your team has never won in its existence? I would think that that is pretty good....I mean is Fran Tarkenton a loser because he's never won a SB? Do you think BJ is gonna do what he did with TB in Minn? It's impossible...the Vikes are light years away from how TB was in 2002! Just face it, the Dolphins are a solid playoff team with Culpepper and Minnesota is not terrible, but maybe a playoff long shot!

Ya know, I really am starting to kind of feel bad for killing the Phin's fans excitement over Culpepper, but he frustrated me sooooo much over the last 7 years. Unfortunately your going to see what I'm talking about. By the way, I don't expect too much from the Viking's this year, we still need a QB. But it just feels good to quit pretending DC was going to take us anywhere.

If QB Daunte Culpepper isn't with the Vikings next season, it won't be because the team doesn't want him. Coach Brad Childress wants Culpepper back, and the team is intent on keeping him. Childress has liked Culpepper since he saw him work out for the Eagles when Culpepper was coming out of Central Florida in 1999. Childress ranked Culpepper as the second-best quarterback in that draft, ahead of Tim Couch, Akili Smith and Cade McNown but behind Donovan McNabb. Now Childress wants to see whether he can help Culpepper become more consistent. The only way Culpepper will not be in Minnesota is if Culpepper doesn't want to be there. . . .

Sounds like Childish changed his tone about DC when he was stolen away...what a f*g!

A second round pick for Culpepper — Now I totally understand that Culpepper emailed his way out of town, and in Zygi Wilf's eyes the love boat stigma attached to his now-former quarterback didn't help, but the Vikings needed to get more than a second-round pick for Culpepper. Extra picks, a conditional pick, a player, whatever! And if I didn't get that, I would've held on to the QB who had the second best regular season (behind Peyton Manning) at the position in 2004. In theory, Brad Childress was hired to make Culpepper even better. While I am concerned about Culpepper's maturity, Nick Saban did everything but use a gun and a mask as he robbed the Vikings.

To get a star-caliber quarterback for only a second-round pick?

That's a great trade by the Miami Dolphins.

All last season, we addressed the importance of quarterback play and how the struggles at quarterback can really hamper a team. It's really almost impossible to win in the NFL without good quarterback play. Now the Dolphins have a quarterback in Daunte Culpepper who is a proven winner – who has won playoff games not only at home, but on the road.

Now I do not agree with all analysts, but they can't all be wrong. I don't see ANYONE calling it a bad trade.

Fair enough, but you have to throw out Chris Carter. He and DC are friends.
And, I hate to say it, but I'm right and they're wrong. You'll see.
(by the way, believe it or not, I loved Daunte in 2000).

I don't know...they can't all be wrong, even if I throw out the Cris Carter one....There's plenty more, but I'm too lazy to keep googling. I just haven't hear anyone call it a bad trade yet!

That's why Zygi fired Foley after 3 months on the job

And replaced him with Rick Speilman.

And your team reached that second rounder, not to mention they had a god awful draft overall.

Did he even have a team around him for seven years? Other than Moss and an aging Cris Carter the awnser is no.
