I agree totally. kids now a days are just way to sensative.

I like this place, the lounge... I usually stay in the main Fins forum, but this forum give the site a little more depth.

Funny thing is I can remember seeing kids hand out invitations in class. Sometimes I'd get one, sometimes I didn't. If I didn't, I usually just thought, "why would I get one from him, I don't even know him."

Hard to uderstand why you would get your feelings hurt over that.

Ridiculous

this is what you get when its socially unacceptable to hit your children...

every kid nowadays has ADD or ADHD and is scripted something for it. really about 85% of these cases could be cured if the parents just disciplined their kids

now kids are too sensitive because theyve had no experience with tough love, they think everything is supposed to be as soft and easy as their parents treat them. the world is a harsh place, coddling just makes kids overly weak and sensitive, creating a generation of suckers

im in no way advocating child abuse, but society has made it seem like theres no alternative but TLC (tender love and care) and no role for the belt/smack on the ***...when really the minimal forms of physical discipline do better for the long run and the overly sensative tends to do more damage to society as a whole

I think for sports it's fine at a young age. When I played t-ball we all got trophies, but as we got older the sport became competitive. No longer did we all get trophies, and when we did manage to win one we felt even better because we had achieved success.

The point is I think eventually we need to cut the strings a bit.

In kindergarten and sometimes even 1st grade it's ok to have everyone give out valentines to everyone, but by about 2nd and 3rd it's time to let the kids start gowing up.

at my elementary school, they had the "give valentines to everyone or no-one" rule until 6th grade. I don't really think it affected me too greatly either way. However, when we went to middle school, all bets were off

but seriously, i hate it when kids get coddled by their parents and then act like turds in public, screaming and whining incessantly and their parents just stand there holding their hand going sshh...no, dont scream please. back in my day (all of 12 years ago), get out of line and there was a smack waiting for you. and that's the way it should be

I guess they never heard the adage that people learn more from their failures than from their successes.
