Yeah, but the Dodgers sucked for most of the year and have gone on a tear. The Tigers have been good all year so at this point you can say it's more than just a hot streak

What about them? They've been good for more then a month unlike the Dodgers who always seem like they find a way to blow it. They are in a horrible division which will help them, but I'll believe that they're for real when I see it.

Let them sustain it.

And the Twins, well, losing Liriano is akin to Florida losing Miguel Cabrera.

The National League is a joke. I'd wanna say the Mets or Dodgers would be able to steal a game in the WS but I don't think it'll happen. IMO the best 6 teams in baseball are in the AL.

Yeah and I went to see them play for the first time ever during that streak at a Dodgers/Cards game at the Busch Stadium. I have to say the new stadium is very nice and the Brookyln St. BBQ stand was awesome, oh yeah and the game sucked.

The Mets are 21-7 vs the NL west. Unless someone beats them before they get to a west team theyre in the ws barring somethin happening that goes against their track record. So no the dodgers arent the faves. Their ***kicking is coming this weekend at shea for 4 games courtesy of the team with MLB's best record (even though the NL does suck aside from NYM and MAYBE a healthy ST Louis team)

Padres getting Wells smacks of them trying to play catch up to L.A. getting Maddux. Towers took a lot of heat for not doing much at the trade deadine, and this is his way to shut them up.

Personally, I think it is bordering on too little too late. With the exception of the Mets series and the Padres (who seem to own LA every year somehow), L.A. has a nice comfy schedule in front of them. I expect the magic number to start dropping fairly quickly here.

GO BLUE!

The Dodgers had Tuesday night's game from the start when they got 3 runs off of Jason Jennings. Final score was 11-4 Dodgers. It was a beautiful night at the park...perfect weather. I had some good beer. Wednesday night the Rockies just blew it, and tomorrow the Rockies are going with Byun Young Kim. Phillies just barely escaped with a 14 inning win...the Padres won so it is tightening up.

Wednesday's game was another laugher. Dodgers win 19-11. Amazing back and forth early and rookie James Loney ties the all time Dodger record with 9 RBI's in a game (Gil Hodges). A grand slam, a two run homer, an rbi double and rbi single. Amazing performance by Loney.

1 1/2 up on Philadelphia for the Wildcard and 1/2 game behind the Padres for the West. Now off to San Francisco and the hated Giants. 2 out of 3 should clinch a playoff spot.

2 of 3 would only clinch if the Phils lost....The Dodgers are 1.5 up because the Phils have yet to play tonight (rain delay). Unless they want a one game playoff they are going to need to take 3 of 3 or hope the Phillies lose at least two of their final four games vs. the Nats and Marlins.

My Phillies got no help at all from the Rockies...lost 19-11 today to the Dodgers who swept them. Loney looked like the 2nd coming of Babe Ruth. :tantrum:

To make things worse, and totally unfair...the Phillies have to play the Washington Nationals tonight and they should be starting at about 11:45 PM Eastern time after a long rain delay....so the game will likely be over around 2:45 am, then the Phils have to fly to play the Marlins in Miami on Friday.....this blows. :rolleyes2

Cosidering James Loney won the batting title in AAA last year and has shown power and the ability to play a gold glove caliber defense at first base, it makes sense no to re-sign Nomar AS A FIRST BASEMEN.

I am not sure if Nomar owuld want to move back to third, but L.A.'s prospect there, Andy Laroche, is probably still another year away and Nomar could be a nice stopgap there, much like he was at first this year. Considering Lugo, Saenz an dMartinez could be gone after the season and Wilson Betemit not really doing a lot with his playing time, it could happen.

But you are right, Nomar will not be back in Blue as a first basemen. James Loney is here to stay. He even made the playoff roster.

Stupid mistake in 2nd innning. Kent not running faster and Drew running to much and not thinking of stopping at 3rd. All we need is the split.

Good game though. Plus, I think they showed Baba Booey in the stand during the ninth inning...
