Do you guys think apples have better graphics(better picture on the screen) than dell computers? because word is dell's are better but apples have a better picture.

im debating which one to buy too.

depends what you are planning to do. Gaming apples are not the best although improving but alot of games are not offered on mac.

If your just going to work like documents etc.. then apples are fine.

no, i dont care for documents(like school work and all) im fine with the basics when it comes to that. Im looking for a computer that is fast and has a very clear dvd type picture to it

you can now run windows on a mac with an intel processor, so the lack of software issue is no more. I personally have both, I have a older mac desktop that i do all my pictures, movies and such on and a dell duel core processor that i use for my every day stuff at home.

im leaning toward dell, there stuff is less expensive it seem's with more features. The only thing right now is im wondering if dell has better monitors than apple or if theres any difference at all (speaking about package deals)

For awhile Apple made the best monitors, not sure if it's true anymore. I have an old G4 PowerMac and a G3 PowerMac. At work I have an HP laptop. I like the Apple's better as far as stability but it can be a pain sometimes with software and some websites. If you want an all around computer I would get a PC like Dell, I just hate Bill Gates.

so overall monitor wise, performance and all. Dells better?

paq7512

Mac won with that price comparsion but there is no monitor? Eeither way no one is buy that kind of computer unless for a business. So that is a bad comparision. And last but not least what bad graphic cards those are......
Dell would win for a budget machine less then 1000 dollars. Guranteed.

That proves they lost. If PCs lost they would be adjusting their computers to be adaptable to Macs. The IPod and other innovations are keeping Mac alive. They have been circling the drain for years...and right about the time they are getting sucked down the drain they resurface with some innovation or twist. If you're buying a computer go with a PC. No doubt.

sweet, teh comput3r flamewar!

As an owner and operator of both, allow me to offer this analogy:

Macs & Dells are like blondes & brunettes. They both have some excellent features. Some argue that brunettes are more compatible with today's office & school environments, yet others claim that blondes are easier to use. Still more people claim you get more & better games with the Brunette. At the same time, you'll play a handful of really f'd up games with the Blonde.

So, in conclusion, do what I do. Use whichever one you are lucky enough to afford, borrow, or come across, and be happy. Or just the cheapest.

I like Macs, but I have a brunette @ work ;)

hope this helps :)

I'm confused.........Is Dell the blonde?

I'm thinking of getting one for my home. My wife is a brunette.... as you know.... that's why I would rather have a blonde computer.

It's $300 monitor (http://reviews.cnet.com/Dell_UltraSharp_1907FP/4505-3174_7-31694881.html) and the price difference is $1200.00 +. Tell me again how Dell won.

Either you didn't read the comparison or you missed this cavaet:

Notes: Mac Pro uses four 512MB DIMMs for increased performance; Dell uses 2 1GB DIMMs. Dell is also available in “750W” configuration for $470 less; this system apparently doesn’t provide enough power to graphics cards to support more than two monitors. Mac Pro’s PCI slots can be configured in four combinations of speeds. Dell LCD display is “free” as part of a current promotion. Dell’s specs for the 690 note 4 DIMM slots for a maximum of 8GB RAM, but other documentation mentions available expansion to 16 DIMM slots for a total of 64GB RAM; Dell’s specs also conflict on hard drive and optical drive bays.

As a note, I am computer reseller and an IBM Partner. I own both a G5 and two PCs. I love my Mac and I tolerate my PCs.

i just got a macbook, its the first mac ive owned, took a week or so to get used to, but at this point i hate my pc's compared to how much i love my mac

id say mac all the way, its so much easier and a much more pleasant computing experience

to the guy who said pcs won because mac is now capable of running windows-have you seen the new version of windows (vista)? its a straight up rip-off of the mac OS

plus most basic programs are made for macs now (ms office and such) and the ability to run windows is nice (although i dont use it) because it allows you to run programs that arent mac compatible on your windows half of your computer

Youngun's get brainwashed into Mac because they give them away to public schools hoping to get the long-term committment from people. PCs are more versatile and have won the battle. There really is no argument unless you are looking for cute over function.

i gotta disagree with you here. ive been a PCer all my life (except for my apple IIc when i was 5) from windows 3.1>95>98>Me>2000>XP. and just purchased my first real mac (black macbook) and i am thanking god im not going to deal with the next PC OS (Vista) ive always had issues with my PCs, from crashing during finals THREEE YEARS IN A ROW, to blue screens and system freezes, etc. the mac OS is a godsend compared to windows platform.

and regarding the versatility i think its the opposite. you get the best performance out of the computers with macs and the introduction of the ability to run windows on macs proves versitility and doesnt detract. now macs can run any programs windows can. and that doesnt mean mac has lost because the new windows OS is modeled after Mac's OS

not to mention the battery life on this laptop is insane compared to the laptops ive owned or used. my moms new dell gets 2 hrs max, and my old laptops got barely 1.5 hrs. this thing averages 4.5 hrs and can stretch up to 6 with energy conserving measures on

thats pretty much what i use it for and im obsessed right now, i hope to never use a PC again. the audio on the laptop however is a little weak in terms of the speakers, but headphones or plugging into my speakers easily fixes it for me. not to mention the spaced out keyboard on the macbook is really comfortable (the lightup keyboard on the macbook pros is really cool too)

the battery life like i said with the mac is unbelievable, but it also gets hot (pretty much all laptops get hot) my mom's dell also suffers from poor battery life and its like 6 months old

More popular does not mean better, the Backstreet Boys are more popular than Radiohead, doesn't mean they are better, the Green Bay Packers are more popular than the Miami Dolphins, that does not mean they are better.

Actually I don't think you can make a case, I think it is a matter of personal taste. I adore Macintosh, I think they are amazing computers, my brother loves PC's and completely hates Mac... HAving said that, most my family is moving towards Macintosh.

i have to say i used to hate macs cuse i didnt know how to use them. took me about a week to get acclimated to the OS and now i think its incredible. lots of little things built into the OS that make it just much more convenient to use and alot more fun than windows

i think its funny that after all these years Windows is coming around to imitate mac's OS.

if it weren't for my mom's IT guy we'd all have macs by now, but he set up her business network and knows nothing about macs so he cant run her system if she converts

I'm not a computer guy. I use mine to surf the net, download some music or videos and send emails. That's about it. I had PC's and they were always was getting viruses or I was wasting time updating my virus protection software. I had to reboot all the time. Now I have a Mac. It does all the same things and it doesn't get viruses. And I don't even have to get virus protection software. I leave it on all the time and I never have to reboot. Basically, it just works better.

Sounds like you'd enjoy a Mac.

I'm a Dell reseller. They make a nice system and pretty nice servers. It makes sense for what I do. But it sounds like a Mac would be a better fit for you.

In the business world (my domain), Windows makes sense because that's what everything runs on. But by and large, my customers love the Macs they have at home. They're easier for the non-techie to grasp. The user interface looks great. Those 20"+ screens are sick. They're just fun.

And you're safer with a Mac because it's a niche market. The bad guys aren't attacking the Mac OS. They're attacking the Windows OS. Security Thru Obscurity so to speak. Apple isn't trying to rule the world. Microsoft is. And as long as that's the case, they'll have a big target painted on their backs.

So my advice to you would be to go out and get a Mac. Like someone said above, it might take you a week or so to get used to it. But you'll probably love it thereafter.

the wierd thing is, since ive gotten my macbook, ive avoided looking at porno on it, i reserve that for my windows desktop. i think there are two reasons for this, 1) i just think its wierder looking at porn on a laptop than on a desktop. 2) my windows desktop is already so screwed up i might as well just use it for porn (it doesnt get much other use now that i got this swett macbook)
