Already?

7:25: Now a question on the price. Kutaragi says the Japanese media and retailers have complained about the cost of the system. He then confirms that the price for the 20 gig model in Japan will, including tax, now be below 50,000 yen. This model will include the HDMI port. He doesn't give the exact price.

Looks as though this may be only for Japan. Which sucks.

Well considering there is a delay on the system in Japan, and that the systems will probably be made over there, it doesn't seem completely impossible.

I think they don't have a choice... Remember, the 360 sells for under $100 in Japan. As long as Microsoft keeps the US 360 price at $400, I don't expect a Sony reaction.

Well the 360 barely actually sell in Japan.

For $100 I'd get one no question.

Well the 360 barely actually sell in Japan.Exactly why it's being sold for under $100. In the US we're still buying the 360 at $400, so why would they lower the price? The PS3's price is directly linked with the 360 price (very similar to the way the PS2 pretty much dictated the Xbox's proce). Once Microsoft decides to do a price drop, Sony-USA will have no choice but to follow up with a PS3 price drop shortly thereafter.

I hope MS does it within 6 months of PS3's launch then, that way I could get a PS3 next summer. :D Pleeeaaasseeee Bill...

I hope so. Lower prices is loved by the consumer
