Yes. The Reds have to win every game and St. Louis has to lost every game pretty much.

Pujols alone could win a game if someone gets on in front of him and they keep it within 5 runs..

If the Cardinals go down quietly here in this series, at what point do they think about getting rid of LaRussa??

The guy is the most overrated manager in the history of the sport. If they go down to the Mets in 4 or 5 games if I were a St.Louie fan I would be screaming for his head. He has a ton of talent and never produces. The one time he got to the World Series his Cardinals team turned into CHICO's BAIL BONDS overnight and just laid down. His A's team in the late 80's and early 90's always choked like dogs in the big spot.

It's a tie game in the 8th inning in Game 2 as I type this. But I think LaRussa needs this series and another WS apperance to maybe save his job here. Or at least not damage his legacy.

For every bad managerial move LaRussa has made, he made 2 great moves last night in taking out Duncan and putting in Taguchi and also by starting Spiezio over Rolen!

As bad as the Yanks were against detroit they wouldn't have had a hard time winning the weak NL.

The Cards are the first team to make the World Series with a losing record after the all-star break. They were 82-80.....they don't deserve to be in the WS. Tigers in 4.....5 tops.

and the Tigers are the second, both WS teams had losing records after the All-Star break, first time in MLB hstory.

??? Are you talking about right at the break? I remember those teams having winning records. I know St. Louis did, I watched then in atlanta right before the break, they were comfortably over .500.

It just goes to show you that the regular season is pretty meaningless in baseball and hockey and the best teams don't always win the championships....just the hottest teams.

You can include the NFL and NBA in that also. You forget the Steelers last year, the hottest team in the NFL heading into the playoffs going on the road 3 straight games and winning?

I love your sig man. The cards surprised us all, I can't believe they won it all this year and lost the years they were winning a lot more games.

i disagree. MLB the regular season isn't meaningless. They only let 8 teams total in the playoffs. So its a dogfight to get in.

What we have learned over the past few seasons is some teams are built for the regular season and others are built for the postseason. You see a lot either more wild cards or teams that are just over .500 winning the world series. (Marlins, Red Sox, Cards). And the teams that roll through the regular season of late hasn't won it all (except for Chicago last year)
