What do you guys think? Journeyman Grady Brewer defeats proven boxer Steve Forbes to win the 500,000 purse and the Contender Championship.

Not only did Steve lose but ESPN lost huge as well. Good luck promoting Mr. Brewer, ESPN...You now have a Mario Williams situation on your hands

Good Point... K-9 would have been a better sell for ESPN...

Great fight for Brewer, too bad for ESPN. I agree I would rather see K-9 or Bravo in a real match.

Yeah, I liked Walt. I agree, K9 would have been a much better sell for ESPN, so would Forbes and Walter. Grady is a journeyman with 11 losses...shows how credible this Contender title is. If Grady goes and gets knocked out his next fight many casual boxing fans will see the show as a complete joke

I think he was too busy with the new Rocky and the new Rambo.

I am the biggest boxing fan you'll ever meet and I watch every fight but I still don't understand how you can call Grady Brewer the CONTENDER when he has 11 losses in his career. I think ESPN needs to change the rules to if you have 5 losses or more, your ineligible for the show!

I agree

I'd really like to know what their formula for picking fighters is. Half the guys they had on the show said they hadn't fought a legit fight in 2+ years.

I agree as well, I think ESPN needs to change the format for Contender III because no one wants to see another journeyman take the crown. I bet ESPN is scrambling like mad to book a Grady Brewer fight with someone who can smash him and take his contender title...Forbes is small and couldn't hurt him. K9 maybe? I think Walt could take him too

I agree, the format needs to be changed. Grady Brewer may have won the contender but if he gests put in the ring with any elite fighter he would be eaten alive. I thought they did a better job in the first contender (not a great job but solid) in picking the fighters and it was cool that Sergio won because he's undefeated so at least ESPN can run with that. I mean Brewer has 11 LOSSES and lost 3 out of 4 fights leading up to the show. I mean there are good fighters out there with a lot of losses like Carlos Baldomir but Baldy hasn't lost in like 20 fights so he's a fighters who decided to take his craft seriously and it's paid off. Brewer on the other hand is a career loser and has never turned it around. I hope ESPN does something different for the next contender (and they will have on) because I can't take Brewer being called the contender champion when he's been waxed over and over before the show. The contender should be for up and coming fighters who have stellar records but maybe haven't gotten the shot to make a name of himself. To many old guys in there 30's on the show and to many guys with multiple losses. I liked Forbes and he's better the Brewer but Brewer was so much bigger and had such a reach on him that it was nearly impossible for Forbes to win. Even though Forbes in an older fighter ESPN needs to get more fighters like him. Maybe a little younger, but they need more fighters like him, guys who we can take seriously!

Can anyone explain how Forbes a past Champion can be labeled a "contender" in the first place? Doesnt the fact that he was once a champion exclude him from an adjective like "contender"?

contender needs to take a page from the ufc show and show the entire fight. when they edit fights like that you really have no idea whatz goin on. the sound effects and the cut aways to the families and crowd suck.

i agree w/alot of what everyones said, but i still watched every episode. i liked bravo and k-9. i didnt like walt, i'm glad k-9 beat him. when they were interviewing k-9 after the bronze medal fight, he kinda reminded me of tyson, the way he acted. anyways, k-9 looked really good in the fight vs. bravo. i'll watch next year if they do it again. i didnt see season 1 of contender, but i think sugar ray did an awesome job as host.

Good video. Powell's a good young fighter. He's 27 and hopefully learned a lesson against Ouma that's he's going to have to be more aggresive and come towards his opponent as opposed to fighting off the ropes. He could have a good future in the sport and seeing K9 get KTFO was funny (even though I liked him on the contender). He got caught with 2 nice shots!

Yeah that was hilarious. But honestly, with proper training K9 could be or could have been pretty good

exactly. you could see the honest to god difference from his first fight, to his last fight just being on the contender w/some good trainers.
