6-5, 305, runs a 4.7 40. 2nd rounder, anyone? Gaines Adams/Quentin Moses in the 1st, then this guy or a stud OG in the 2nd and I'll be happy.

Joe Staley Interview
October 13, 2006

Big guys with the athleticism and nimble feet needed to play the critical left tackle position at the NFL level are extremely rare and as a result they are always among the most coveted prospects available when the NFL Draft rolls around. One prospect who has the physical tools that scouts look for is Joe Staley of Central Michigan. Joe talked with Scott Wright as he finishes up his college career and gets ready to take his game to the next level.

Scott Wright: What is your accurate height, weight and forty time?

Joe Staley: I am currently 6'5" 305 lbs and run a 4.70 40.

Scott Wright: You actually played tight end as a true freshman in 2003 and since then you have added about 70 pounds and moved to the offensive line. Did you have a hard time bulking up and what do you think your ideal weight will eventually be?

I don't really want Gaines Adams in the first, Moses I would tolerate I guess. Could always pick a stud LT in the first Thomas or Brown, then try and get Staley in the 2nd, and play him at G since he is so athletic.

I think that moving him to G from LT would be a waste. 4.7 forty with quick feet.

You may be right, I don't know. I just know we need linemen.

I think wingspan is equally important as quickness of feet. It will be interesting finding out the wingspan of some of the players listed 6'5 and under; like Levi Brown and Sam Baker.

what about joe thomas? thomas as a first round pick

Staley as a second? Then we clear up our OT problems.

Then move Shelton to guard and then we look good for the future

Next we draft DEFENSE up untill maybe like the 6th or 7th round and get a big guard or somthing
