Joe Thomas is the real deal, and boy if we got him, that would bring some instant stability on the o-line that we've sorely missed.

There are no guarantees when drafting prospects, even one as physically gifted as Thomas. He could be the next stud or the next dud but a gamble I think we cannot pass up.

he's 6'8" i think with great wing span. i think what will make or break the guy, and i dont know the answer to this, is how good his knee bend is. if he cant bend effectively, and at 6'8" that could be a problem, defenders will always get leverage on the guy. the combine will be important to see how much strength he has and how strong his punch is. whether he can move effectively and quickly while maintaining balance and strength will also be crucial but he's definitely intriguing

his knee injury wasn't that bad. he was moving it 90 degrees the day after surgery. he looks great this year. especially on run blocking. i think he's better than d'brickashaw ferguson. i hope we get a shot at him.

with linemen its usually a matter of how strong they are and how quickly they pick up basic technique. cant answer cause i'm not sure. alot of times linemen sit for a year and just hit the weightroom and work on getting their weight to where its supposed to be

I agree. You never know. He looks like the best Olineman, if not the best overall player in the draft. Hes big, talented, and works hard. Thats all you can ask for. Now whether he can withstand the physical, mental, and emotional rigors of the NFL, thats anyone's guess. I would think he could.

And if we draft him, and if he would turn out to be the next outstanding young Olineman, what a difference it would be. The question then becomes can either Toledo, Berger, or Hadnot take over any/all of the interior positions. If Hadnot stays at C and continues to improve, and one of those guys can develop into a player, then good for us. If both Toledo and Berger can play, and we get Thomas, boy, what a coup. We would then be able to start grooming a QB for the future. But this is a long-shot. A very long shot.

I think he tore his ACL in a bowl game a couple months ago. His coach put him on defense (DT) and that's how he got injured. :shakeno: It was looking like he would have went pro last year and was projected somewhere in our range.

I haven't seen him play this year but it seems like he recovered quick or his injury wasn't as severe as I think.

Nobody knows who coming out of college is going to produce in the NFL. It's a hit or miss type deal, and LT is a hard position to translate into the NFL because the speed of the game is so much different. Guys are bigger and faster.

He played Tight end and D end during his freshman and sophomore season. He filled in due to injuries, so it's not entirely out of th blue.

If he is really that good I hope we get a chance to take him in the first round, cause we're going to need him
