for a little bit i've noticed an unusual lump on my hand...not really painful but its still bothering me, im going to the doctors next week to see what it is, and it may be a tumor. Tumors lead to cancer, and cancer runs on both sides of my family :nono:

mines looks identical to this

hopefully it turns out to be nothing...but for some reason I think im not going to be let off easy on this one...lately my body has been feeling very weak at times

heres a link for a little bit of info on it that i've been checking out
http://www.dynomed.com/encyclopedia/encyclopedia/hand_and_wrist/Tumors_of_the_Hand_and_Wrist.html

anyway just thought i'd let everybody know whats going on

Could just be a cyst, I had one on my arm for years before I had it removed. No big deal. Don't always assume the worst case scenario.

i have had a few cysts, even had to have a few removed, not a big deal. That is also more likely what you have than cancer.

I've had similar things in the past, and by the time the Doc checked me out I had convinced myself that I was a goner. It's not worth the stress. You're doing the right thing by checking it out. A lot of people try to ignore it and wish it away.

I agree with other posters who think this is a cyst and, as such, not a concern. Remember, I'm not a doctor, but I play one on Finheaven!

We'll be thinking good thoughts!

it could be a lipoma. i had one removed last year. it was annoying and not painful at all when i touched it. Lipomas are benign tumors composed of mature fat cells. remember all tumors are not bad. only malignant tumors go to cancer. benign tumors are harmless.

Ganglion cysts are filled with synovial fluid. That's the fluid that surrounds and lubricates your joints - and is much like egg white. A ganglion cyst is caused when the synovial fluid herniates - or escapes from around the joint.

A "cyst" is quite simply a "pocket" or pouch of tissue, and can be filled with air, pus, or as in the case of a ganglion, joint fluid. Cysts can occur anywhere on and in the body. Those that are pus filled are generally the result of infected oil glands or a foreign body beneath the skin surface.

sorry guys been busy with the girl all week so havnt had time to update ya guys....ganglion cyst, doctor told me though its only a 1/3 chance that sticking a needle in it will drain it, and 1/5 chance of doing surgery that messing with the tendons wont cause another ganglion cyst to appear. So im going to have to wait until bout feburary and if its still on my hand and hasnt decreased any then i'll get it removed

believe it or not the doctor said it may be from me playing guitar

Glad to hear it was nothing serious.

I got a cyst just under my arm-pit. I was scared silly because I looed it up and a lot of sites said a lump there may be lymph node cancer. The doc said it was just a cyst though and antibiotics made it disappear in no time. Scary though.
