If he comes out this year, 3rd-4th round. if he plays another season and shows he can tackle, late 1st-3rd.

Ya I use to watch him in high school, he played my team every year. He was ridicolous then, but he couldn't pass the FCAT so he had to go to junior college, but we all knew he would be big. I would love to get him on my team.

It's amazing how a guy can go from unable to pass the FCAT (an elementary reading and algebra test) and wind up getting a college degree from a to 30 or whatever university rank UF is...

reggie nelson is a great player. If he goes in the draft this year, his stock should rise to the 2nd round after the combine.

His lack of intelligence can be compared to Pacman Jones' inablility to stay out of trouble. That said, he has all of the talent in the world and is a smaller version of Sean Taylor, probably more comparable to Palomalu actually. I can see him going around 15-20 and if somehow he made it to the 2nd round he would be a solid pick.

I keep seeing 2nd and 3rd assessments on him too. I have to question that. This guy is a first round talent. I HATE UF vehemently, but I LOVE Reggie Nelson. He is the best college safety I have seen in years. He is in on every play, has a nose for the ball, great wrap-up tackler, and good hands. Very heavy hitter too.

Yea, it's funny how your athletic ability can earn you a scholarship towards an insignificant degree. What's Nelson's major again?

We don't need to draft Nelson, if he has trouble with complicated Defenses. Ours is not an easy system and if a known good-student like Jason Allen had trouble with it, I hope we don't get lulled in by athletic ability (we won't). Admittedly I have only seen the higher profile UF games this year, but his technique seems to be line up 15 yards off the LOS and run to the ball - that won't work in the NFL; he'll have to do some play diagnosis, not to mention putting others in the correct alignment.

He'll be going in the 1st round. Next to Landry, he is the next best safety prospect. We need to draft LB!!!!!!!!! in either the 1st or 2nd round.

WOW, there is alot of misinformation in this thread. Unreal, can't read defenses? Are you serious? Theres a reason he's a finalist for the Thorpe Award(Best DB) and the Nagurski Award(Best Defensive Player). He has been the best Safety in the nation this season. He is a straight up ballhawk and has great instincts. He's also one of the hardest hitting safeties out there and rearely misses, so I'm not sure where you get the can't tackle crap. He's a 1st rounder, and yes he is most likely coming out this year, unfortunately.

Every player has a value and I like Reggie Nelson but he has flaws. He will take an angle rather than man up (EXACTLY like D'qwell Jackson last year). He will take a big shot on an exposed guy and he is one of the best EVER IMHO ...when the ball is in the air...if you watch his pics it is usually when the ball floats or is not on a rope. He has very good speed but his footwork is marginal breaking on the ball...he will never be a slot corner and his ONLy position is a FS/S/ that plays the ball...he does that as well as anyone IMHO.

Everyone will fall in love with him as a playmaker and he will be very good in a Bob Sanders type role...but he does not fit this system where the S's are asked to do more than play centerfield....IMHO..

Bob sanders is a bad example...he plays more at the line than most DB's.....Nelson is more a CF than a safety that will help in the run game....bad example...

Reggie is flying up the draft boards and is considered a 1st round pick by
many draft gurus now.

Nelson would be great in MIA, but another SEC safety to look out for, if he declares, is Georgia's Kelin Johnson. He's lights out.

Out of the whole year I whatched every game the Gators played in and I think I seen him miss only one tackle. He imacts the game like I have never seen a Saftey do before. He can hit lights out and is intimadating and just ask the Georgia WR who dove to the ground rather than even try to catch a pass when Reggie Nelson was coming after him. Make no mistake about it that he will enter the draft
