Philly Mayor doesn't know name of MVP?

The city of Philadelphia pulled out the stops yesterday for National League Most Valuable Player Ryan Howard, draping a giant banner on the north side of City Hall and presenting him with a Liberty Bell statue and mayoral proclamation. Now if only Mayor Street could get his name right, according to the PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS.

"We are enormously pleased and we are very, very proud of our Phillies, and we are certainly proud of Ron Howard and his great achievements," Street said in a Mayor's Reception Room ceremony, making some wonder whether he was praising the film director, the former Eagles spokesman, or Ryan's dad, also named Ron.

With Howard's parents seated nearby, Street pushed on, calling the Phillies first baseman a role model on and off the field, and noting with emphasis, "We have somebody who we can really say, 'It's all right to be like Ron.' "
After Street called the slugger "Ron" a fourth time, an aide whispered something to him and the mayor began reading from the proclamation, calling him "Ryan."

Still isn't as funny as when John Kerry was at a Red Sox/Yankee game on ESPN while he was running for President and they asked him who's his favorite Red Sox and he said Manny Ortiz.
