To be fair, this has yet to be confirmed. IF TRUE, this is VERY deceptive on the part of Sony, to claim that Blu-ray was needed for Resistence when they just padded the game disk.

We'll see...

I wouldn't doubt it... WHAT THE HELL IS THERE SUPPOSED TO BE TO FILL 17GB?!

I not sure people understand the size of that and how many millions of lines of code that would be. We're not talking about 1-2 years development time for a decent game... We're talking 4-5. jeeeezzus.

To put it in perspective, Gears of War is 6.3GB. I think it has better textures, charatcer models, and AI than Resistance. If resistance really is 17GB, then those are some terrible developers.

I really dont know about coding and GB but if Gears is only taking 6.3GB then either sony lying or like the mor said those are some terrible developers.

Well this was pretty much common knowledge. In fact, that was what i was trying to point out in my post. This article is just confirmation.

[Update: We got our answer. The entire thing is blown way out of proportion. There are still padding files, but they're a relatively meager 420MB per region.]

There's nothing new about padding game sizes to make pirating harder. God of War on the disc is a full dual layered 9.7GB. Once pirates took out all of the crap, the most recent leak is 2.7GB. It's something Sony's been doing for a while. It's not really deception... More like anti-piracy.

On a side note... For Sony to say, "Our games are truly next gen because they're so huge and next gen games need blu-ray" and they're padding it to need blu-ray is a different thing all together. That is deception.
