I'm disappointed in college football and urban meyer. As much as I hate Ohio State for robbing me of freshman year glory, I don't see how any neutral fan could want Florida to win this game. Urban Meyer cried until his eyes went dry to get UF in the game, and I don't think that's right. Let's just wait this summer to see if he's still the world's biggest backer of a playoff system.

I'm not following this. Why should someone dislike Meyer for saying what he did??? Nothing wrong and 100% fine for him to speak as he wants. Urban gave plenty of credit to Michigan and their great season. Bitter?

Wouldn't expect you to understand what its like for a coach to do what ever he can to support his team. You can call it whatever you want, doesn't mean much.

Because you play your game on the field, not in the media. Meyer spent just as much time game planning as he did lobbying for a chance to move up in the polls. I hope we do get a playoff, now that guys like Urban Meyer are running top programs. I guarantee you, if he was as silent as Lloyd Carr was, Michigan would be playing for the NC.

your insane, coaches care about their kids and Meyer is all about his team doing well not him! stop bashing meyer cause he said what he thought that Michigan had their change and a SEC champs with only one lost should have a chance based on what the rest of the nation did. He also said that Michigan deserved a chance too and we should have some playoff system cause no matter what someone would get the shaft.

First off...disclaimer...I'm an FSU alum and die-hard fan...

UF had a MUCH better body of work than Michigan and deserves to play in the national championship and it would be a crime to give Michigan another shot and OSU. That being said, I agree with Lou Hotlz (for the first time ever...someboby get that guy a bib)...Michigan has a gripe because all they did was lose to the top team in the country. But this is the ridiculous system we live with and being that we can't change it in the next few weeks, the national championship game should absolutely be OSU vs. UF.

i hate the bcs and needs to be scrapped florida deserved the right to play the championship game, so what urban meyer talked about how they deserved to play, it would not matter what he said if florida did not back it up and to talk about how he only cares about himself is an utterly idiotic statement

michigan had a chance to shut every coach up in the nation and they could not get it done, period they could have closed the whole debate but they got cocky expecting a rematch no matter what

michigan could not even win their division and the gators won their division with 12-1 record the only loss coming a highly criticized call where everyone said it was a pass

florida had to play a schedule with a .640+ winning percentage

One of the girls that was murdered, Christa Hoyt, was employed at my dad's office at the time she was killed. How so? Because I'm saying that a whiny coach is the reason they are going to the BCS title game?

Don't misunderstand me, I think UF is the #2 team in the country, but I thought that before they beat Arkansas (well I thought they should have been higher than Michigan). I just don't think it's cool that all of a sudden they jump Michigan after Meyer complains at every opportunity.

By the way being a fan of the "U" and a program that almost abolished football period! You have ZERO merit to bring up any other teams off the field issues or problems in the community. The pot calling the kettle black indeed.

I am excited about this game.

UM is a good team, but IMO you should not be in the National championship IF you lose your conference.

OSU surely has looked like the best team in the nation. I have no problem saying that. However, I am excited to see them playing another solid team and seeing how each really relates. Both programs have good to great coaches, it should be a good game! The time off should really help Florida rest some of their injuries. By game time, hopefully they will be 100%. (I just wish Thomas was not kicked off - to see how good this really could have been!)

Along with seeing Michigan against USC I really like Bowl time bc you get to see how other teams really equate to other teams in other conferences.

Pretty much sums it up

"Both Ohio State's and Florida's rosters are chock-full of premier athletes and senior quarterbacks who have experience in big games. Ohio State has the advantage in this matchup because its running game is much better than Florida's. Antonio Pittman has gained 1,171 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground. The Buckeyes' backs will attempt to take some of the pressure off quarterback Troy Smith. That may be easier said than done; Florida boasts the nation's sixth-best rushing defense, holding opponents to less than 75 yards per game on average. Smith's mobility will help against Florida's pass-rush, which has been good all year. Smith should also look to put the ball in the air against Florida's weak secondary. Defensively, Ohio State has not faced the type of spread offense that Florida runs. The Buckeyes will have to work hard in space and cover the Gators' speedy receivers. Ohio State's defense has been stout all season and the offense continually steps up in big games.

That sounds about right. OSU will be exposed to a type of defense they haven't seen much, but they showed against UM that they can adapt and have success against the best. I like Florida's speed in this game. IMO, if they can shut down Smith -- keep him in the pocket, and force OSU to play it up the middle, it'll become a game of inches and a defensive game. Even with Smith, Ginn Jr., Florida's defense has more athletes than OSU's offense.

To be fair, the secondary was definitely suspect early in the season. They have improved leaps and bounds though with the immegence of Ryan Smith.

Reggie Lewis is the vulnerable portion of the starting secondary, and our depth hasn't be very reliable IMO.

True, our depth is definitely a concern.

Even with Smith, Ginn Jr., Florida's defense has more athletes than OSU's offense.Florida's defense? What about Ohio State's defense, they played 13 games this year and only two teams managed to score more than 13 points on them...Michigan and Iowa and the Hawkeye game was a blow out. Gator fans are in for a rude awakening on January 8, the Buckeyes have it all...offense...defense and special teams. :D :cooldude:

I hate teams such as Notre Dame, Pitt, Virgina Tech, ...etc... Not because they win all the time, but its just something you learn as a young kid to do. Because there your rivals. I have reasons for hating all of the above..89' ND beat us in the National Title game, pitt is our rival "backyard brawl" and Virginia tech was our rival before the moved to the ACC.

But i can honestly say that as much as i hate both teams, OSU will walk all over Florida...Thats my opinion as i've mentioned many times. I just think they have it all on offense defense and special teams. I know UF fans hate me because of my opinions. But im sure most of you hate WVU. Timmy54

For the season the Gators defense has technically allowed 175 points for an average of 13.5 a game. But when you exclude the possessions where an offensive turnover put the defense in an impossible position -- and it has happened more often than a national championship contender would expect -- the Gators are giving up just 8.4 points a game. That includes allowing six points to the Auburn Tigers, who beat the Gators with defensive scores, six points to Alabama and 10 points to LSU. -Miami Herald-

and sorry it was Michigan how put up 39, Texas put up 27.
With those powerful offenses like Bowling Green putting up 7 and Minny getting blanked, the OSU does have the better ppg average.

Ohio State is gonna blow both your lines off the ball, we are just as fast, we have a better coach, and we actually have more than one guy with talent on offense....

Im not sure WHO said there is no way Florida can win and Troy Smith is not above a bad game?? Its my opinion that your gonna be at a huge disadvantage if Leak takes 80% of your snaps..I have a very low opinion of his talent....

And this whole "speed" comment you guys keep referring to will not be a factor..you dont have 1 guy on your team that can run with Ginn for 60 yards..thats a fact..we beat a better front seven in Michigan...Its hard to see ANY advantage you have on OSU offensively..So like I said your outmatched and the majority of people feel that way-hence you bing an 8 point dog........

But that doesnt mean you cant win...I mean look at that PR give you 7 points in the SEC title game..that changed the game!!

No facts can support a logical reason why you can win without huge mistakes by OSU....You guys have not faced an offense near like OSU's and a defense with a better scheme..why would I believe it wont take 3-4 TO's for you to beat us?? I have no reason not to believe that.

no, neither team have faced teams silimar to the ones they will play in Jan. the thing that may help florida is they have played alot of good teams while OSU really only played Texas and UM along with the Big 10 schedule that alot of experts say is strong at the top but really falls off after the top two.

I honestly don't think it matters who your a fan of given the fact that the only two Mods I've ever seen in here are an OSU fan and a FSU fan. And VIP doesn't help either.

There was an incident earlier in teh year about J.Allen where I got banned for " provoking other members" in wich one guy called me an idiot who was a VIP memeber and recieved nothing.....thats a case of double standards.....

My last warning was for saying Florida fans were "uninformed homers"....guys you may all hate me but how many of us have said things like that a hundred times over???

About 2 days ago UF FinKat called me a loser and said "idiot OSU fans"....gee I wonder if she got any sorta warning for that? i doubt it....

This is an awesome site but the flaw in favortisom is evident. We should all be held to the same standards IMO....

I don't know the details of any of these incidents, but I will say don't always assume the other person didn't get warning points. I think the mods do a good job here, especially considering some of the things that are said in the heat of the moment. You honestly think Colt and the Texas offense were as good at the beginning of the year as later on? A young QB is going to get better with experience, that's just how it is. You played one good offense, gave up 39 points, and played a young offense with potential and shut them down. Nothing in that tells me that your defense is going to shut down an experienced and talented UF offense like the OSU people are saying.

I know they were good, not great, especially at that time. It isnt laughable at all to question the Bucks defense. They were exposed by Michigan, and managed to stop a young QB. If they both play at the highest possible level I think Ohio State wins by 14..thats my opinion and I have a perfect season to base it on......That doesnt mean things like TO's costly penalties etc cant change the game..Florida has achance to win but I feel it will take some mistakes by Ohio State for that too happen....So call it what u want to.

I have a blown up picture of the play in progress....

Gamble runs straight..the CB grabs his jersey (slows him down) then Chris goes up for the ball..

Defensive holding was likely the correct terminology..but make no mistake a foul was committed......the refs blew a few blatant calls that wouldve resulted in no OT to begin with, but Im sure nobody wants to say anything about that right:rolleyes:

I am not sure if a better team that night one. If you take that Miami team vs. OSU 10 times, i would say Miami wins it at least 8. It was a pretty big upset in my mind, and the mind of others but that is what is great about football, it is one game, no best of 7 series.

As for the BCS championship game, lets see if the gators can do what OSU did a couple of years ago. Seems kind of similar kind of game with OSU reversing roles as the favorite. hmmm

I don't know about that...... Miami had a flashy team, but Ohio State was a tough team with a great running game, great special teams, a great punters and kicker, and the best defense in the nation..... We had guys like AJ Hawk covering kicks on special teams.... the depth on that team was insane.

Florida isn't really like that this year.... they have a very good D, but they don't have anywhere near the ball control running game, punting, or kicking that Ohio State of 2002 did. Ohio State won more than a few games because of Mike Nugent..... Florida can't have any faith in thier kicker, who is one of the worst in D 1....... 30% Fg's is not how you win close games.....

While the "High Powered Team vs. the Underdog" is there, thats about where it ends with comparisons to 2002....Flroida really isn't like that team .

Florida has won alot of games with special teams, but they rely on mess-ups from the other team.... something Ohio State isn't really known for.

Flroida also has trouble covering kickoffs for some reason (strange since they make ST's plays alot)... which could lead to trouble considering Ted Ginn and Anthony Gonzolez can bring it back for 6 at any time.

Its not the best..... slightly worse than Ohio State... but considering your team has been pretty dependent on Special Teams to win some games I would think that the fundamentals of special teams.... i.e. Punting, Kciking Field Goals, and covering kicks..... would be excellent.

I'll be honest, I didn't follow OSU much in '02, so I won't compare the teams. I'll just stop at the situations being similar.

Our kick off coverage hasn't been a concern this year, at all to me. The only knock I could see on that would be the leg strenght of our kicker. He gets very few touchbacks, thus we impliment that high hanging kick that is usally received around the 15-20. The coverage on that kick has been just fine though.

I don't agree on "relying on other teams' mess-ups" in regards to our ST either. You just don't block that many kicks in a year with being able to force mistakes.

There's no comparison with Nugent and our kicker. Heitland is dreadful.

I do think you're underestimating our punt return ability also. Brandon Jacobs should have at least 3 returns for TD's this year. He's several called back and two were absolutely horrible calls. The Tennesse game was a pathetic phantom call, and another in the Auburn game.

a question for the osu fans, is there anything about the florida team you think is good. You say our special teams is horrible (we do have a garbage kicker but the rest of the unit is top notch-blocking kicks-changing feild position), out defense is good but not great (we are top five in the nation i would say that is boardering on really good if not great) and you say our offense wont score on your D. Just so we got this straight, you basically give you no chance and predict a 56-0 game, am i wrong??

Like every big college school does that. Have you seen the impact Clemson fans have on economies when they go to thier bowl games? And they aren't even one of the bigger schools.

But you act like no other schools travel well at all.

PS: Good luck with your time share. I'm sure it will be a very prudent investment.

I guess not.

Wouldn't it be funny though if I got my wish though about the end of the season. It involves only one team finishing the season undefeated. I'll let you take a stab as to which team I want to win.

I didn't put words in your mouth, especially when I said "act." The tone of your posts clearly show you look down on anyone and everything that isn't Ohio State football.

That'd be nice, because I would love to go to a home fins game, but I think the heat might get to me, as well as the lack of snow.

These OSU fans are really getting me to hate their program. They have recently invaded some of the other Gator boards that I post on and talk a lot of smack. In addition, they are coming out of the woodwork in Jacksonville and talking a lot as well. Most of them though around here may be bandwagon fans who have given up on the Noles and Canes:lol:
