You cannot play Apple DRM'd (iTunes Store purchased music) on the 360. You can play unprotected songs that you encoded using iTunes however, be it MP3 or AAC.

Actually, you can. Download the iPod app for the 360 in the entertainment downloads area. Now you can hook your iPod up to the 360 via he USB cable and play it all off of your iPod directly. All of the playlists on your iPod will be intact also.

mor, are you 100% positive it will play iTunes Music Store purchased tunes? As far as I know, Microsoft hasn't licensed or broken the FairPlay DRM used by Apple.

But as I said, there would be no problem for it to play music you've ripped to the iPod yourself, as I know this works with my shuffle. I just don't buy any music from iTunes, so I cannot test the DRM.

I'm 100% that it's play a song i downloaded from itunes. It won't stream it from my PC, but it will play it off the iPod. Did it last night to make sure I wasn't crazy.

Update - You don't have to download the iPod patch from xbl anymore. i guess they've implememnted it into one of the dashboard updates. I learned this walking my roommate through the iPod process last night.

I still have a hard time believing that, because Apple has not licensed out the code for FairPlay support to anyone. That would mean that MS is breaking the DMCA to allow those songs to play on the Xbox360. That is a whole can of worms I'm not sure MS really wants to get into.

But if you say it works, I'll take your word on it, because I don't have any iTMS songs to prove otherwise.

It completely slipped my mind today that after I couldn't get the two songs i bought playing on my 360 (a while back) I went and got some not-so-legal copies of said songs.

I was wrong, Chrisko was right. You CANNOT play music bought from iTunes on your 360. It didn't hit me til I was listening to my iPod on shuffle and the song (i bought) played back to back.
