I think the basketball was a non issue.

Good. They should be playing with what the players feel comfortable with.

What a blunder. Not only was it a mistake to change the ball in the first place, but to change it again during mid-season shows how bad of a mess this league has gotten itself into.

Yep, Doc, and Artis Gilmore, Darnell Hillman, David Thompson...those were the days. I have an 8 foot poster of Dr. J in his NJ Nets #32 uniform in my garage.

there is truth to what Wade said.

he said that bank shots were twice as hard with the new ball as it seemed to "stick" to the backboard.

Wade stopped shooting his bank shot and if you watch Antawn Jamison and Tim Duncan..their bank shots have been less effective.

Best quote on the subject and just maybe the smartest thing Isiah ever said.

Knicks coach Isiah Thomas didn't have a strong opinion one way or the other."I just remember when you played and you didn't have a net and the rim was bent and the wind was blowing and the ball wasn't leather, and somehow you found a way to get it in the hole," Thomas said.

Some guys liked the new ball but i've heard that players were getting paper cuts and guys were getting hand/finger injuries because of the new ball. It was a dumb move to switch to a new ball without getting any input from the players.

Well at least Stearn owns up to his own mistakes. I dont think Stearn is a bad commish. He did make a mistake with the ball but he listen and is going back to the original ball.

Now players are saying they are use to the ball, they don't know what they want!!!!

ESPN is saying that Stern switched back to the old ball because now he can tell the players union he is giving them back, because he WILL not change the arguing with the referees rule.

First Nash did not want the new ball, now he does not want to change.

As Mark Jackson said on ESPN radio today, its orange and round, shooting Pct is slightly up from last year as is scoring.

Its a lot about nothing!

He does not want to change back because he has spent 3 months getting used to the new ball now they're changing back and he'll have to get used to the old ball once again. Switching balls was a terrible move by Stern and now he is fixing it. I think it'll take about a week or so for guys to re-adjust to the old ball.

They never should have changed the ball in the first place.

That being said, this sets a bad precedent. First, things like this should not change in-season. Say a team had to play a game on December 31 and January 1, they're using two different balls in two days. Just doesn't seem right. Second and more importantly, Stern is admitting to the players that if they whine loudly enough long enough, they will get their way. And that's not good in a league where EVERYONE whines about everything.
