OK, B-lo, you win! I'll wear this stupid gear I have on till the day after the Pro Bowl instead, cool??

Man, it's harder than you think to be banned! I checked out the site a couple times yesterday, and a couple times today, and I can't beleive all this Jet maddness I'm seeing!! Things like "Nick should have taken the Alabama job because he can't hack it in the NFL." Christ, I almost blew up my computer reading this garbage, and not being able to do a thing about it!!! It's a Jet week for crying out loud - which I really didn't even think about when making this bet. 'course, didn't think I would lose either

Some things I discovered the past couple day while away:

-I have a family!! And they, like, count on me to support them and stuff.
-I have a job!! They were wondering where I was the last four months.
-I was reading some news. Man, the world is Phucked!!

Anyways - happy to be back after what turned out to be my 50 hour, 50 minute exile! More to come once I get done .... working!

* Until my 18 month old daughter decides she is a Bills fan.My worst fear is my two-year-old starts likeing the Jets, Bills or Patsies. So far, I've got her saying "Dolphins" pretty darn well. And she gets what football is sort of - her and her mom watched the Sunday game that I was at and my daughter said "Daddy ... football game?".

That said, if she were a Bills fan, it would make one thing easier. I could bring her to Dolphins-Bills games w/out fearing she would be insulted left and right a whole lot earlier than if she was a Dolphins fan. If she takes after me, her first game in Barfalow will be no sooner than 14 years from now. Not exposing her to that BS. Although, this past Sunday wasn't really that bad (see my "goodbye" thread).

Yeah, don't count on Saban o do exactly what he has done twice in a row. No... not Nicky.

It is not about the first or second part of the season, it is about your personnel choices.

Nicky screwed up the season because he picked Ronnie over a QB when you still had Ricky.

Nicky screwed up this season because he picked Daunte over Drew when you still had Sage and the other duffus (name escapes me). I mean, those two got you to 9-7, you drop both to go after old limpy and gimpy.

The question is, does Nicky cut bait on Daunte and go for a QB of the future and let Joey and that guy battle it out in training camp, or do you waste one more year to see if they can repair Daunte back to his old self (never will be).

Ronnie over a QB you say? What QB would that have been? After Smith went before us, who else would we have picked over Ronnie short of Braylon Edwards or Cadillac? What QB?? Rodgers? He slipped all the way to Green Bay for a reason. Ronnie isn't perfect, and he may never be more than an average starting running back - but judging Saban by this is stupid. EVERYONE knows this was a bad year to have a top-of-draft pick. That's just the way it is. Unlucky for us. If Smith was there, Saban would have taken him. But he wasn't going to reach for a sub-par QB.

I'll give you the Daunte over Brees thing - but it wasn't so certain at the time the decision was made. Hindsight is 20/20 as they say. And don't forget - Daunte will get the chance next season to set things straight. Let's give him the chance to play when healthy before we judge. How can you say he never will be his old self?

You can do both next season. Bring Daunte back w/ Joey in tow as backup. Then draft a young guy to groom for the future. No young guy is going to step in and win right away next season. The only hope for a great year would be for Daunte to start and be the Daunte of old. Joey - for the most part - starting from the beginning of the year, could conceviabley give us 10 wins at best. Bottom line - bring back Daunte for next year, draft for the future. Keep working at it until you get it right.

1) Would you trust that damn pothead after he screwed your team over?
Ronnie is a good back with the potential to be a great back. If we had an OL and a decent OC he would be tearing it up.

2) Hindsight is 20/20 No one knew that Chad would play as good as he did, therefore drafting Clemens and trading for Ramsey might seem like a waste now right? I guess Daunte was the safer choice at the time since a QBs arm is more importnat then his legs. Would I rather have Drew Brees? You bet your *** I would. Hopefully Daunte should be healthy next year, if that was the problem. I think they should draft a QB because Culpepper is a big ? and that is something this team has not done in a long time.

Thanks L2G hooked me up. You love Jimbo!!!!B-lo, I actually have a picture in my office of myself and Jim Kelly, along with a co-worker of mine at the time. It's from May '97 if memory serves right - the first offseason of Kelly's retirement.

I was a reporter for a small Upstate NY newspaper and Kelly came through town for a local HS sports award banquet. It was the same day he found out his son had that horrible disease - but he still kept the appearance, though he had to cut it short. I couldn't believe he still came when he just found out his very young son at the time was going to die almost assuradly as a youth. He was such a pro, I gotta say. Made lots of jokes, even joked about playing at "Rich Stadium South" in Miami and he chuckled when I told him where my allegiences lie. I wrote a story on him too - I have about 10 copies! Mostly was about his career and how he would deal w/ watching Bills games in 1997 w/ him not at QB anymore.

His pic sits next to my other pic w/ Irving Fryar - who came through town preaching at a local church in '96, the year after he left Miami and went to Philly. He told me he was going to light Miami up that year. And he did - scored like four TDs against us if I remember.

Anyways - my encounter w/ Kelly was a good thing, as I have a lot of respect now for the man who consistently torched my Dolphins and ruined several seasons. Look at it this way - in the early 90's the Bills were to the AFC what the Bulls were to the NBA during their championship run. Players like Charles Barkley and Patrick Ewing credit MJ w/ keeping them from winning championships during their careers ...

The Dolphins had very good teams in 1990 and 1992, but ran into the Bills Buzzsaw in the playoffs. Perhaps it was Kelly himself that kept Marino from at least appearing in another SB!

B-lo, I actually have a picture in my office of myself and Jim Kelly, along with a co-worker of mine at the time.

Jim Kelly to me is the Buffalo Bills. Not only was he "tough" on the field as a player, and ONE of the best ever, he went through something w/ his family that most of us could hardly imagine. Being a parent myself and seeing how he delt w/this tragedy makes me respect him even more as a person than a player. Having children yourself I'm sure you know what I mean. He is a very classy , respectable person IMO regardless what other people may say. My wife still chuckles at me every time I put his(HOF) speech in to watch, because it never fails there's a man tear. Some of you can go ahead and jump all over that one , I don't care!:cooldude: "my soldier, my warrior, my EVERYTHING" It's a sad story w/a sad ending. All he prayed for was his son to be present to hear that speech "If" he made it to the HOF. And he was there! Sorry about the lack of F bombs and insults, but this is truly an amazing story by an amazing q.b.! :cooldude:

I thought he was an amazing guy after the day I met him - long before I was a parent. Since then, I think about any story I read about, or hear about - where kids are hurt, have a disease, etc. - affects me even more. Yep, parenting sure does change your outlook on things. I got by in life for 31 years before my daughter was born. Now, I can't imagine not having her around - it would kill me I'm sure.

Dude, everyone "man tears" every now and then. Some things in life are truly sad - like Kelly and his son's condition.

Not to mention B-lo, that the man - essentially - single-handedly revived your franchise from about the lowest point a franchise can be.

Joe Cribbs anyone? 35,000 empty seats anyone?

Since Kelly, things have been remarkably different, eh!

And let's be even more honest. The whole lot of them - at the very least - kept us out of the SB in '92. I said it then, and I'll say it again, had the Oilers held on and beaten the Bills, we would have faced off w/ Dallas in the SB that year. No way anyone in the AFC - short of Buffalo - beats us that year. Heck, maybe in '90 as well. Wasn't that the year Buffalo blew out the Raiders to get in?

YES!Yep, Marino was better if only for the following reason:

-As good as Kelly was, he had Thurman Thomas in the backfield.

Put Thomas on those Dolphin teams in the early 90s ....

No knock against Kelly at all. He was great, no doubt. Probably third behind Marino and Elway in the Class o' '83. If you're going to be third best at something, be third-best at that!

Thomas was great , but the guys that made him are Hull, Richter, House ballard, Wolford! Them guys may be the best ever. They could run block, pass , screen block, and the were nasty. They dominated pretty much every week!

And in the '92 AFC champ game, they apparently could also make our D-Coordinator, Tom Olivadatti, forget that the screen play actually existed before the game. Based on our defense that day, it's as if Buffalo invented the play on the spot.
