Happy New Years everyone! I hope this is your best year ever! Martin County puts on a fireworks show every New Year right out back. I shot some movies and pictures of the event and some of them turned out pretty good. It was a "learning" experiance with my new camera, but for my rookie shoot, I think I did ok. I am able to view directly to my TV, AND record directly to DVD...and that is significantly better quality than the gifs I get when I load them to computer. On my TV, the movies are actually quite nice but I must say, the "fireworks" mode on my camera provided some very nice stills... NEXT time, I will use my zoom mode more. I had a fit trying to get it to focus...I quit to soon...live and learn. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the pics! Happy New Years!!!

I have never really had the chance to examine what the pyro's are actually doing..I am SO impressed with the complexity of the various displays. I have a slideshow put together with about 100 images that is pretty awesome, but when I really blow some of them up it is spectacular.

Happy New Year's Everyone!!!

Here in Colorado Springs they have a group called the Add-A-Man Club, which is a mountain climbing group that climbs to the top of Pikes Peak (14,110 feet high) every New Years's Eve....at Midnight they set off fireworks from the peak. Then on New Year's Day people flash mirrors towards the top of the peak and they flash their mirrors back at you. A woman's group decided they were going to have an Add-A-Woman's climb group, but now the original group lets a few women climb with them.

Thanks men, I had fun. Next time I will spend more time in "fireworks" mode, as opposed to movies....AND use zoom more. When you blow up the last image it is even more breathtaking...how these "makers" create this "art" is incredible. ...is there a name for an artisan who makes fireworks?

oppps, you too Holli !!
