So Yzermans jersey was retired tonight before the Wings/Ducks game. Nice ceremony prior to the game. And in typical Steve Yzerman fashion, he abandoned his speech to counter all the praise the speakers said before him to improvise and not give himself an ounce of credit, and put it all back on Scotty Bowman, the wings organization, and of course the fans.

One of the classiest guys to play the game. A true definition of the word leader. Never showed off, never aarogant. Just everything a professional athlete should be. Gutsy, played through so many injuries. A shame he's no longer going to play. He will be an instant hall of famer indeed. So glad he was able to leave the game with 3 Stanley Cups, a gold medal for CANADA in the olympics, and all the other trophies and awards he's won over his career. and of course, longest serving captain, spent all his career with one team. Just an amazing player and person.

Whether you love, or hate the Red Wings. You have to admit to pretty much all of the above.

Last Jets game I saw was versus the Wings so I'll always remember him

It was cool to see all the current players wearing all his previous Canada and All-Star jerseys
