That's what an Edmonton Oiler announcer said after this play, when you watch it you can understand where he's coming from.

The puck jumped over his stick...it happens all the time. The oiler announcer is ridiculous blaming Stefan. What about the other 4 guys on the ice who failed to stop the puck being moved and the goalie who didnt stop the shooter.

He came in so casually with the puck.

The ice was bad but it was also the end of the game, even in Edmonton it happens.

Still no excuse for missing an empty net from a couple feet away.

I hope Edmonton finishes 1 point ahead of Dallas for the 8th seed in the West.

And sorry, you can't blame anyone else on the ice for that. If I had a team mate on a break-away to an empty net I'd be standing around too, especially in this level.

Ray Ferraro definately did overreact though.

Sorry man, but that's still NO EXCUSE. And no, that doesn't happen all the time when you have a clear view of the goal from 20 feet away! He could have made that shot a lot sooner.

Off the top of my head, isn't this the draft where Havlat and the Sedins are the only decent players taken in the 1st round?

Stefan was a bad 1st pick.. We should have picked a Sedin, but they wanted to play together and Van. had the chance to pull it off.. He was garbage from the start in Atlanta, quickly forgotten when Kovalchuk was signed..

Wow, that's gotta be one of the worst draft classes I have ever seen, it's ugly man.

VERY ugly.

Daniel and Henrik have come into their own. A lot of people have a very high opinion of Havlat, i'm not one of them. I think he is trash, he's the best player in the World when it is a three goal game, get him into a tight hockey game and he evaporates.

On topic: Ferraro did overreact a little but that is how he is, he speaks his mind. To be honest he's one of my favorite hockey commentators. Stefan did look like the fool though, I'm just surprised he was actually on the ice in a close hockey game at the end.

VERY ugly.
I counted six guys that wouldn't be labeled a bust, that's just amazing and what is more amazing is that their is not one true great player in that class, some good ones like the Sedin twins, Havlat and perhaps Connolly if he can ever stay healthy, Boyton is a pretty decent player as is Tanabe, but that's almost it.

In fact the best player in that draft might very well have been Henrik Zetterberg - taken in the 7th!

I don't care if the ice was shaped like a bowl, Stefan had a wide open net, a chance to end the game, and plenty of time to do it. Ferraro's right; an NHL player should be able to put that puck in the net with no excuses.

I hate Havlat but Savard has him playing lights out. He's young and is going to thrive in the next few years on not being in a supporting role and playing top minutes.

The Hawks have a bright future with Toews, Barker, Skille, Havlat, Bolland, Makarov, Sindel.

Ray Ferraro is an idiot, he's the worst commentator ever for hockey.

I agree though what a terrible draft class. Havlat is head and shoulders the best player in that class.

I'll take Zetterburg today, tomorrow and twice on Sundays over Havlat...same with Miller.

Havlat is a slug in my opinion. I don't CARE what his numbers say. The guy evaporates in big games and big situations.

He's the best player in the league when your'e looking for the goal to give you a 4 goal lead.

In my opinion this is the dumbest and worst consecutive series of events in the history of professional hockey. I've been watching Hockey a long time, and seen a lot of dumb things, horrendous calls, terrible NON-Calls, and some bonehead plays by players. But this is the worst ever.
