Still not much information has been released on this game. The game developers are from Europe in a company called ZootFly. Looks awesome though.

It looks like Halflife2 engine... is it a game? Could be a really great mod.

Nobody is sure yet. There is alot of speculation on both it being simply a mod using the HL2 source engine(some say due to the physics & the crosshair reticle) but nobody knows for sure.

apparently it is a real game...

Yesterday we caught a glimpse of some seriously impressive (http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/15/seriously-impressive-ghostbusters-game-in-the-works/) footage of what looked to be a modern day revival of the Ghostbusters franchise. Peeling back a layer of the mystery found European developer Zootfly at the helm, as well as more questions to be asked. The most prominent of which being, "Just what the heck did we see?"

In-game footage of an early version of the game, running on an Xbox 360 apparently. Updating their website (http://zootfly.com/) this morning, Zootfly not only expressed their excitement over the response from their new found fan base, but also dropped a few lines (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/755/755532p1.html) concerning Ghostbusters. The bad news? The game is currently on hold as they negotiate with the owners of the Ghostbusters IP, Columbia Pictures, who just so happens to be sister company of Sony Pictures.

It seems good... but its a ghostbuster game... the concept itself is not worth a buy.

Walk around and capture ghosts, **** it, I'll just play Luigi's Mansion. This game is destined to be bad. Can you imagine yourself saying "the only two good movie based games that have ever come out are Scarface and Ghostbusters". LoL. I didn't think so.

On the other hand, I'm just in a hating mood, and this game could be a hell of a rent.

Wonder if it will be multi-platform? That'd be cool to play.

I don't think it looks that bad and also one of the best games that are based on movie franchise has to be Chronicles of Riddick Escape from Butcherbay I loved that game.

You might have... I certainly enjoyed it for 5 minutes.

I'm sure some people enjoyed Godfather... I myself liked Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for SNES, but I am more objective in selecting the games that actually are good, than good for being average.

Scarface was ok but I didn't consider it a good game driving was way off gameplay was ok but very monotonous. Which I usually agree with gamespot on rankings and it gave riddick a 9.3 and scarface a 6.4 .

Another reason I liked riddick more probably because I like the setting the characters. I mean scarface was a ok game but felt really rushed.

Anyways I don't like to throw a game completely under the bus just because its a "movie game" normally yes they suck but thats because they try to put out the game same time as movie to make money off it. Last I checked ghostbusters was released a very long time ago and they can shoot to make it a good game.

And it was always so hard just to make the car stop and get out to get into the building, it was just bad detection on the games part I guess, but you'd drive to the flashing building and no matter what you did you would hardly ever get out. I think I got into the actual buildings to fight ghosts maybe 3 times total, lol. I was really young, so that MAY have had something to do with it, but still........

UPDATE

The Ghostbusters drama just keeps on coming as Dan Aykroyd himself (who starred in and wrote the original film) has revealed (http://www.edmontonsun.com/Entertainment/Weekend/2007/02/02/3506287-sun.html) just what is going on with our favorite revived franchise. From Dr. Raymond Stantz himself: "Universal purchased the rights from Sony for a game. I'm actually going to have to perform and do some motion capture for them. That will be next year."

So now we know exactly why Sony had to drop the hammer (http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/25/sony-makes-xbox-360-ghostbusters-game-disappear/) on ZootFly and their Ghostbusters prototype (http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/15/seriously-impressive-ghostbusters-game-in-the-works/). But why the sudden amount of interest in such an obscure property? It should be obvious by now that this is no mere coincidence.

And that something is a new feature film. In yet another interview (http://www.cisnfm.com/station/blog_mike_mcguire.cfm?bid=7500&med=30179), Aykroyd reveals that not only is Ghostbusters III in production, but it's a computer animated film in which he lends his voice.

All that's left for this resurrection is some new toys and Ecto Cooler, (http://www.x-entertainment.com/articles/0822/) because in 2007 Ghostbusters is all up in our grills (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7YSCRWAjDU&mode=related&search=), and we're loving it.
http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/03/dan-aykroyd-busts-out-ghostbusters-info/

Im not so sure about how the film will turn out(probably not good), but atleast we have some solid information on what is happening with the GB license coming to consoles. Hopefully Sony is able to make a good game with the license, but for those of you who enjoyed ZootFly's early footage, they are releasing their own "ghost hunting" game using that same engine.

Yeah, Sony forced them down because they own rights to the Ghostbusters. The guys who made that early trailer are making their own game similar to that of ghostbusters, but Sony will be the ones who handle releasing the actual liscensed game(which is the one Akroyd has just signed on to).
