I logged on and saw that it was down and thought "They musta filled the HC position" so I scooted over to NFL.com to confirm.

Best guess I have was server overload.

It was really distressing for me too, but I did discover that I was still married.

Im so tired of this site taking a dump when there is big news. it happens every single time (ricky debacle, saban hiring, quitting, camerons hiring....etc) a lot of people depend on this site for fin news. i always have to go somewhere else for info when something big happens. is there something us members can do to assist this problem? would donations help keep finheaven from falling into deep cyberspace in times of need? let us know, we need our finheaven. i'll sign up for vip at the end of the month. does vip money help? maybe you could post something in dolphins forum asking members to help out.

The Cameron hire was simply a coincidence.

Downtime should be significantly decreased in the coming weeks. We're pretty excited about that prospect.

I thought that the site was going to be able to handle these types of spikes.

Didn't you guys do some sort of huge upgrade just before or after the draft?
I'm just wondering if somehow someone is hacking this site...for it to crash like it did.

Also, why does the entire site crash? I remember a while back that just the message board area would crash...yet you could still access the frontpage.

I really like this site a lot, but the crashes are starting to become routine.

I'm sure there were just too many people online! It was chaos over here at the training facility...we had the director of personnel in the pro shop in the morning and he told us about the media circus going on in the parking lot...I figured we'd know who the coach was by the end of the day...i'm sure everyone and their grandmother wanted to come on to say their peace :)

Honestly, yesterday (and today) wasn't a question of traffic. It's been very frustrating for us as of late. Frankly, we're quite a bit angry.

But as I alluded to earlier, there will be noticeable changes in the coming weeks. And things WILL get better very soon. I PROMISE you that. There's a lot going on in the background in regards to our future. And we are far superior staff-wise than we were even a year ago.

The future is VERY bright for FinHeaven. Just you wait and see. :)

The vast majority of fault lies with our host. Both times.

Is everyone seeing a lot of latency at times and apparent outages at others? I got this behavior before yesterday's incident, but it seems to be happening even more often now. I just want to make sure it's reported in case nobody knows about it...

I noticed there are times when you get "site not found" messages, or the site really slows down a lot. I thought the system crashed Friday night because of too many people trying to get on to discuss the Cameron hire.

Hmm, well if it isn't a question of traffic...then it has to be either a hacker or your host is playing kiddie games.
That is unacceptable and I'm sure you are twice as frustrated as any finheaven fan. Surely the logs (if accessible) should give you an idea of who is behind this...unless they were doctored.
My question is, what plans do you have to prevent this from happening again? Moving to another host?

Thanks!

I asked a few questions and the thread gets locked with no explanation?
If I have treaded out of bounds, please don't hesitate to let me know, but this seems kind of strange for a harmless thread like that to get a lock placed on it.

Thanks.
