Even more ludicrous is the reason talking has been banned. You'll have to follow the link to find out.

My God.... :shakeno:

That's insane.

How far can you take "safety".

I mean what's next.
Are you going to strap kids down in a bubble all day to make sure there is 100% zero risk of anything happening?

It's just not possible.
These people just don't want to have someone closely monitoring the lunch room is what it sounds like to me.

I think it will have to be enforced on the teachers ideals and beliefs. In other words eventually they'll just leave it up to the teachers to decide if the childs loud behavior is a safety issue.

Every time I think we've reached a point where things can't get more ridiculous, I'm proven wrong.

Wow, one more reason to add to my ever stretching list of "Why I'm glad I never experienced the american schooling system".

We always had a silent lunch in middle school, it sucked. We also had to sit on one side of the table and face the teachers so we could be watched.

Back to the article, why not just teach the kids to alert a teacher when they see someone choking?

When we got to loud we had silent lunch....it wasnt very fun

Well in Florida teachers can barely teach the basics...that may be a step to far. But for the rest of the country its a great idea.

Goes to show the level of ignorance these people have.

If someone is choking loudly, then they will be okay. The only danger is if someone is choking and unable to cough, that's when it's serious.

Saying that you can't hear them choking if people talk is ridiculous.

i remember when i was in elimentary school they used to turn the lightsoff when they got mad at us and we had to sit there with our heads down and if we talked we would get sent to the principals office. It was some tough stuff for 8 year olds.

The principal's letter also spelled out other new lunch rules, including requiring students to stay in their seats and limiting them to one trip to the trash can. Any child who breaks the rules will serve detention the next day.

That's so ridiculous. How is that improving safety? I guess it will cut down on the amount of times that kids trip :shakeno:
