:drinkers:

I've never bought anything but a Ford.
Mustangs, explorers, F-150 and never had a big problem.

My partner talked me into buying a Toyata Tundra based on their reputation and we've had nothing but trouble with it.

Tranny problems and an ongoing computer glitch problem that still hasn't been solved. Sometimes it just won't start and you have to wait it out. It's a 2004 by the way. Way too early to be having issues like this.

Stepping out of the car debate, has anyone actually watched the video? Man that guy really lost it.

I've had a Mitsubishi and a Mercury (Ford). The Mitsubishi broke down every 3000 miles and the Mercury is a great vehicle which hasn't broken down since I've had it.

I have a Mitsubishi, it has a turbo, at 40k miles and have had no problems with it yet except for the fact the AWD eats tires.

Well I'm partial to that as well, despite my dislike of Ford vehicles.

I've had two Ford Exploders. First one (A 92)had 186,000 miles on it. Never a lick of trouble. I traded it in on a 96 (Got almost 4500 trade-in) and got 130,000 out of that one. Once again, ZERO trouble- But I did get 5 brand new tires on the second one:D - It was nice to trade Firstoned for BFG-straight across:wink:

people either love them, hate them, or think they are "ok"

I have 143,000 miles on my '96 Ford Explorer and never had any major problems, just change the oil and replace the tires. I worked for Ford from 1996-1997, and there were some signs the company was in trouble back then, but I never would have imagined them losing $12 billion in a single year.

I used to have an exploder and had some transmission problems, break problems, door lock problems. But the mechanical problems were nothing major. My biggest problem with ford is that all the ones I have had experience with drive like crap.

The real story behind Ford is that they were the Econoline (pardon the punn) of the american vehicles... They were cheaper for a reason. They were the first company to produce assembly line vehicles and they never really got away from that mentality...

It really does not matter whether it is Ford, GM or Chrysler... If you take care of a vehicle, it will take care of you...

Now given that I have supported Ford in a sense here, MOPAR RULES!!!!

Yes it is... Notice that fact that they took something that was already solid and performing and built upon that...

Pinks and I will defer to you for the decision of a quarter or eighth mile track...

Nothing beats a MOPAR!!!

Then I should have run ya when I had my 'Cuda.

And actually....this all depends on your mods too.

Looking at the photo in your sig which I'm assuming is your car, you have a '68 Charger. Bone stock, with the Hemi, you should run 0-60 in 5.3 and a 13.8 quarter.

My Stang in stock trim runs a 0-60 in 5.1 and a 13.8 quarter, so it looks like it'd all come down to the driver.

So.....if you haven't made any mods yet, I'll run ya, if you have a stock engine any LESS than the Hemi, I'll beat ya.

If you have made mods, give me some time. Next summer I'm gunna play with her a little. :D

i used to sell fords... there were serious quality control problems in the mid 90's, but from what i understand, most of those have been ironed out. The Firestone fiasco with the exploders was a PR nightmare, but mainly due to the tire manufacturers faults.

All that said, i just think they are boring. i like cars that get the driver more involved. Toyotas are even worse. I used to sell those too. the salesmen had this big inside joke about toyotas. we called them "Boring cars for boring people."

obviously thats a generalization, but for the most part, it holds true.

Bro, c'mon...with the exception of Ferrari and Lamborghini and the like, what company has more than one or two NOT boring cars?

Look at Chevy now. The Vette...that's it.

And as for those two being the only ones in Ford's history to not be boring?

hey, you can't buy a torino today (nor do i particularly think its "exciting"), the thunderbird was never "exciting", just nice, and my point really wasn't about "all time", but moreso of just what you can buy today.... and none of us are going to be able to afford a Ford GT. The Mustang GT is the only relatively affordable car Ford makes, and yes it is fun.

There are plenty of "exciting" or "driver involved" cars out there, but for me its just a personal preference. obviously i am in the minority or else Toyota would be bankrupt.
