He was somewhat inconsistent in college. Of course I'm not sure how well the coaching was up there. End of the season he was considered a 2nd-3rd rounder. After last week's Senior Bowl and practices he's moved up to late 1st early 2nd.

he had a great season last year as a junior and was projected to be a 1st rounder ealier this season, he started the season hot but then after the Notre Dame game, the whole team started playing bad. But Stanton is a terrific athlete he can run very well, hes at his best rolling out and throwing, hes got good size, has a great arm, it was just his senior year he was a little too inconsistant, but he has moxie and great potential to be a good NFL QB. He just needs the right coaching.

If you have watched him play much, you could see why so many on here like him alot. he has good upside, no physical limitations at all. Good lively arm, can make all the throws, accurate, and has really good feet and good overall quickness and speed. Gutsy player!!

If you think about the comparison, all the overall attributes, and the somewhat letdown from junior to senior season, sounds alot like that QB in 1983, Danny Marino. Maybe, hopefully there is more than just one comparison here. I really like Stanton alot.

Yeah, I think we would be doing good to get this guy. I think with a good QB type HC and good O-coord. he could be really, really good. Certainly good enough to win with. I would put him in the same status with Quinn if he had played under the same coaching. Pretty close to Quinn in ability. I like this kid alot, the more i watch him, the more i like his ability. Although he does tend to try and put the ball in there sometimes when he shouldnt, alah danny marino. not such a bad thing though, to have a little bit of guts to your QB.

Seriously, we need to stop wasting our times fantasizing about players that wont be there when we select a QB. I dont see MIA picking a QB any earlier than the 4th round. All we need is a developmental QB to replace Harrington as the 3rd string QB...not one we need to start in the next 2 seasons or anything...

Culpepper should be our starter for the next 4-5 years. By the time DC is say 34 years old...we should be thinking about using a "high" pick on a QB.

But as far as 2007 or 2008 is concerned? We shouldnt even be "entertaining" any thoughts of a first day QB.

I say in 2009, we should draft a QB with our 1st round pick. This year, we should draft one in the 4th round. Or maybe send our 4th round pick along with Harrington or Booker to HOU for Carr maybe?

Stanton will prob go 2nd or 3rd round latest. He is the perfect size for an NFL QB, has a strong arm, runs very well, and throws best on the run. What i like about him is that he wont run and slide away from the hit. This guy has star written all over him.

That just your opinion, not fact. Fact is unless Cameron and Co. think Lemon can be something we need a legit backup plan in case Daunte doesn't pan out. There is no way to know that right now.

Speculation, speculation, people are speculating Culpepper will be back to form and he may not. Its a guess as to whether he will be healthy, remain healthy and wont suffer another injury to the same knee that would be career threatening. How much mobility will he have left? Will he be inclined to wear a knee brace like Marino did and how much will that effect his mobility, which was one of his strengths. It would be great if Culpepper came back at his former self but if he doesn't where do we stand? Is Lemon the answer, if he doesn't, who knows. Everyone seems to have high hopes for Lemon but when he did play last year he didn't turn any heads. Miami has been weak at quarterback for a long time and have continually relied on someone elses hand me downs for success. We have the 9th pick this year and the second a couple of years ago but a high pick will be needed to select the best prospects at QB. Sure its a gamble at any pick and at any position but the fact is, that Miami's best success at QB has been with drafted QBs not hand-me-downs. Brees is an exception to the rule but San Diego had two QBs on their roster who were both high draft picks and elected to go with the younger of the two which left Brees to move on. Sure you have the Brady arguement but Brady is not the norm but a rarity with his being a late round draft pick. I guess what I am saying with all of this is I wish Miami would return to their success with drafting a franchise QB and quit playing roulette with hand-me-down QBs.

Stanton's physical abilities have never been in question. It's the mental that some question. He doesn't always make the right decision, then again no QB ever does, and he has a tendacy to let bad plays effect him longer than it should.

at first i was totally against drafting stanton in the second.
I live in iowa so I got to watch him at least once or twice a year sometimes more, depending on what the tv had on local channels. I generally wasn't impressed with him, maybe more so because the team lost the game most of the time.

However, I am warming up to him a bit. He does look quite athletic and really does have a great arm, and maybe you guys are right, with the right coaching we can groom him to be the next franchise guy.

whoever has him in a miami uni..... the fit doesn't look all that bad.

just do me a favor and stay away from quinn.

i like the idea of drafting him in the 3rd rd..i really think he could be a steal in the 3rd..as far a severy 1 saying that culpepper will be the qb for the next 4-5 years im not sure about that...how is his health ? no 1 knows that but him...if he is still less then 80 % by the time the draft comes around i think we would be wise to atleast draft stanton and see what happens to culpepper..imo i love to see c-pep heathly and ready to go but if not then maybe it is time to costs r losses

Nicely said.

Although I did not see the Senior Bowl practices I have heard that scouts were really impressed with Drew Stanton. He also had a pretty good game in the Senior Bowl, no doubt about it he was definatly the best QB out there

I'd be happy with Stanton in the 2 second round. With maybe Ginn/Jarret/Brown in the first round. Maybe with all the WR in this draft Olsen will slide to our third round pick. That would be a nice day one IMO.

I like what I've heard about Brian Leonard too. Haven't watched him though. Maybe he would be there in the 4th round.
