View Full Version : New Dolphin Uniforms?

OK, I'm not looking to get blasted but, one of the newsgroups I subscribe to - for helmet collectors - had this posted.

"Has anyone heard that the Dolphins and Chargers are
working with the NFL to come up with new uniform/helmet
designs for the 2007 season?

KFAN out of Minneapolis was discussing it this morning. I
did not get all of the details. I would hate to see the
Dolphins change their "classic" logo and I am not sure
what you would do to the Chargers other than bring back
the powder blue uni's (maybe a newer version of the
powder blues??)"

I can't vouch for the newsgroup poster - I was just wondering if anyone else had heard this?????

The rumor that the Chargers and Dolphins were undergoing logo changes has been out for about a week now. And in fact, either yesterday or today the Chargers admitted that they are changing their logo somewhat, which adds a bit of credibility to the story.

However, I don't think there's been any news about the uniform changing, although it wouldn't surprise me.

I really hope they don't change our unis too much. I really like just about everything about them. They look slightly more edgy and vibrant than our old ones, but still classy, which is hard to find these days. I just hope we don't pull a Seattle and reveal some hideous Aqua pants and Aqua jersey combo.

New uniforms aren't always bad. I think it would take some time to get used to them, but if they dont change it I won't be disappointed. I think something like the Vikings have now would look nice in Miami, or maybe something like Atlanta or Buffalo. I like the logo though.. I hope they don't completely change it.

You must be the first person I've heard of that actually likes the new Vikings uni, it seems everybody hates it with a passion. I think Buffalos unis are pretty ugly as well, and thats not just because I hate them in general, they're just really bad. I'd prefer to stay out of these new uni trends.

I Hope We Bring Back Those Fabulous Orange Jerseys And Create A New Bicolor Jersey But I F We Chang The Helment We Should Go With A Aqua Or Black Helmet. (kidding About Helmet)

What About A Bicolor Jersey Like The Titans Only We Use Aqua And Black With A Trim Of Orange.

I'd like to see them switch to the throwback style they wore on thanksgiving a few years back or else some kind of compromise between what we had and what we have now. For god's sake, though, I hope we at least ditch the navy shadowboxing on the numbers.

Most dolphin species are gray, not blue. And that's not even a universal case, there are a few rather colorful species.

EDIT: Unfortunately the only drawings I can find right now are grayscale, but they allow you to imagine how a Dolphin logo could come pretty close to real life.

You guys are too much.

If teams were looking to make a perfect replica of logos there'd be no colorations at all. They'd just put a picture of one on a helmet.

The logo is in team colors.
Great and unique colors.

Good Lord!

If you go to the Phins site they explain all of this.
They weren't interested in replicating a scientifically correct bottlenose dolphin that could be put in an encyclopedia on the helmet.

They mixed the dolphin mammal with the colorations of the Maui Maui dolphin fish. They liked the characteristics of the Dolphin mammal and the coloration of the dolphin fish which was a more vibrant color matching the S. Florida area.

This wasn't just some random thing.
They thought it out and I think it was a very creative job to combine the two giving us an intersting and vibrant logo.

That is the point after all.

I agree. The new Vikings unis work nicely. I wouldn't mind seeing the orange included a bit more than it is, perhaps an orange side panel with the aqua.

Only thing I'd like to see done to the Fins logo is to lose the M on the helmet (*ducking the gasps of blasphemy*). I think our logo has evolved nicely. I certainly don't want to see the Dolphin Stadium logo become our team logo. It's too flat. Looks like something you'd expect to see on a yacht club wall or in the brochures of a gated community.

Now, maybe, if the classic dolphin were made a little more agressive looking, perhaps losing the sun behind it...who knows. I'll reserve judgment til I see it, if and when it comes.

Is it just me, or has our Aqua gotten more and more GREEN over the years? I have a replithentic #99 JT jersey and I'd say it's more of an emerald green than any Aqua I've ever seen.

Damn those Jaguars for going with TEAL!!!

We've never had green.

There is a blue green mix to it but it certainly isn't emerald green.

To clarify, since Jimmy J. came here he lightened our colors NOT darkened them. We've gone to a more sickly light blue copying the Titans, Jags or Marlins. This was Jimmy's way of forcing Navy blue into our colors.

He not only screwed up our team but he also screwed up our identity.

I'd rather we go back to our blue/green aqua and dump the Navy which was never part of our color scheme at all.

Wherein did I write that the Fins should abandon their present colors? The question is rhetorical, I wrote no such thing. I was merely pointing to the color variances of natural dolphins that would adopt well to our present colors. I wasn't even suggesting accuracy, just similarity.

Oh, and by the way, I already knew the history of the Dolphins' logo. I've been a fan for 18 years, it would be stupid of me not to know.

I totally agree with adding some grey to the uniform. If the rumors of the logo change and last years Dolphin Stadium logo are any indication of things to come, we can expect some grey in the uniforms and logos. And for all you traditionalists out there, I completely want to keep our current colors of aqua and orange, but I think it would be cool to add a new color in there. So don't reem me, please.

What better way to breath life into a franchise that needs a fresh start than to change the color of our beloved dolphin mascot to grey and keep the aqua and orange somewhere in there. I made a few photoshop logos of minor changes. I feel these can appease the traditionalists and satisfy those that want a little change, also. I took the helmet off of the dolphin merely because I think it looks ridiculous. Dolphins don't where freakin helmets.

I would suggest keeping our uniform colors pretty much the same, except introducing minor grey accents to the home and away jerseys. That, and to change those ugly all-orange Alternate jerseys to a grey jersey with aqua shoulder pads (kind of like the Titans jersey) and orange numbers or with orange shoulders and aqua numbers. I photoshoped a couple of mock jerseys like this but they looked very rough and amateurish. I will try to clean them up and post them later if anyone wants.

Tell me what you guys think. Some of you may not like changes, but at least be civil. No need to be mean. And try to keep an open mind.

Some of this stuff sounds like a bunch of pimps at Mardi Gras. Black, orange, dump the navy, more orange. The colors were picked to represent South Florida - the aqua for the color of the water and the orange for the sun (go figure!) or at least that is what the Miami Herald said in 1965. The problem with the present aqua is that is all that landlubbers who never get more than 15 feet off the beach ever see. The ocean is deep blue, and that's where dolphins really play. (the Navy was listed as an official color, by the way, and some of you need to look at the old dolphin 'aqua' jerseys - they were much more blue than green.) The orange for the sun is absurd (if the Sun really turns orange, we all can kiss our butts goodbye) but it's also a "Sunshine State" color.

For heaven's sake, don't pimp the fins. I want to root for a football team, that looks as well as plays like a football team. I'd prefer the OLD School uniforms updated - and revert to the Pre Jimma colors - more blue the teal, and drop that orange monstrosity like a burning traffic cone. (There is some sort of ironic reality in that, every time I've been in Miami, some road has been under construction!)

How about the coaches, players, and scouts worry about team needs and let the fans enjoy whatever they want? Why do people feel it necessary to rehash something said in this and all uniform threads a million times? We get it. Many of you don't want to change the uniforms. But guess what? Just cause I want a tweak in the uniform and colors, does not mean I don't want my fins to win first and foremost.

Funny you should put that picture up there. My apartment is decorated with an aqua/teal colored carpet in the living room and an orange carpet in the kitchen. And no. It is not because of the Phins. It is because my girlfriends gay brother said those colors go well together. You connect the dots.

No one is saying that a uniform change will help the team to win. It just might be cool to see a little less feminine/kid-like logos/uniforms. And a change of scenery may invigorate the team. Just like a loser, geek might gain the confidence to ask out a hot chick if he got a new trendy outfit. I wish more people would stop living in the past. It's time for an update IMO. Besides, this is the slowest part of the football year and this topic always gets brought up. Funny, I bet most other teams message boards don't have these kind of threads every year.

but let me ask you guys a question what is wrong with a bicolor jersey ? like using a aqua chest and black sleeves or a medium blue slevees with aqua chest.

Or throw some grey in there to match the new Dolphins logo I proposed above (I like the first 3 the most). Change is inevitable people. And based on the circulating rumors, change is on the horizon. Do you traditionalists not like my idea for a logo better than that god awful Dolphin Stadium logo? If you had to choose the lesser of 2 evils, what would you pick? It's like voting for a politician. Which one do you hate the least? Let the fans speak so that Huizenga does not put those hideous logos on out teams helmet.

I can't vouch for the newsgroup poster - I was just wondering if anyone else had heard this?????

god i hope not, their uniforms are fine the way they are..........

I would say the gray can be for the hair of all the old people that live in floida. :sidelol:

I don't know about that. I'd like to keep the general overall uniform and just make some tweaks with adding in a grey color. I think the white helmet would look the best, but here is a peak at a rough sketch of what you wanted to see.

This thread just gets more and more hysterical to me.
The reasoning is priceless.

Other animals adopted by organizations have strictly followed the animals color combinations.

I mean the proof is right here:

Orange and Navy blue Broncos
(John Wayne used to ride one of those in the movies didn't he?)

Purple Ravens
(Those are the most dangerous kinds!
If they flash their bright yellow accent colors at you duck!)

Blue Lions
(Are those found in Africa or Asia?)

Blue and Gold Rams.
(Almost hunted to extinction from poachers longing for golden horns)

Red and Black Falcons
(only the males have the bright red plumes for mating)

Green and Steel Blue Seahawks
(Native American folk lore referenced the powers that the steel blue feathers could bring a tribe!)

How about Silver faced humans?
If it wasn't for the silver faced Patriots we never would have won the American Revolution. (Too bad they developed silver poisoning and became extinct)

Seriously guys this is a pretty ridiculous argument.

Picking colors to represent people and organizations goes back centuries. Families pick a logo and color scheme to represent the family. Companies pick colors and logos to represent who they are. Our country is Red, White and Blue.

It becomes a representation of who you are and you don't just go screwing with it because there will ALWAYS be a minority of people who want it changed all the time.

I thought it the colors represented the sea and sun.

I really hope they don't change our unis too much. I really like just about everything about them. They look slightly more edgy and vibrant than our old ones, but still classy, which is hard to find these days. I just hope we don't pull a Seattle and reveal some hideous Aqua pants and Aqua jersey combo.

The current aqua-on-aqua combo (that we wore for the Bears night game that one year) is a GREAT looking alternative uniform (like Seattle's all-blue, or Saints' all-black).

I'd love to see the Fins go with all-aqua at away games and all-white at home games.

Most dolphin species are gray, not blue. And that's not even a universal case, there are a few rather colorful species.

EDIT: Unfortunately the only drawings I can find right now are grayscale, but they allow you to imagine how a Dolphin logo could come pretty close to real life.

The "Striped" and "Spinner" dolphins are really sleek looking and streamlined. If we HAD to alter our logo (vs. a cartoon dolphin wearing a helmet), why not go with a version of those images on the side of our helmets (getting away from the gray of course, and/or adding some aqua/orange).

Pink with butterflies?

That's about as extreme as you could go with that one.

Actually, if any outfit could "scare" a proffessional athlete a 350 pound man dressed in pink with butterflies could be it.

The mystique of the Raiders were their players.

How's that silver and black "mystique" today?

The no name defense had just as much mystique as the Silver and Black with aqua jerseys and a Dolphin on the helmet. The 49ers were one of the most feared teams ever in the 90's and they have an SF on the helmet for a logo.

A couple dots must be missing, because I have no idea what the picture is supposed to be.

And yes, people are saying a uniform change will help the team win. Look back on the silly references to the Broncos, etc. And if a player needs to be "invigorated" by a change of uniform, I suggest a trade as the way to get one. I don't want anybody on this team that needs to be motivated like that. The millions they get paid to play a game damn well better be enough.

It's not going to happen. It's not just tradition, but a competitive advantage.

Dark colors absorb lights much better than light colors. That transfers into heat. If you stick a thermometer under a white jersey and a dark jersey, there is going to be a significant difference.

Forcing opposing teams to wear their dark home jerseys is worth it.

The Dolphins' uniform is about to undergo a subtle change for 2007, even as the team studies bolder transformation.

The Dolphins are expected to alter the font on their numbers by thinning out the blue outline for the 2007 season.

''The Dolphins logo is not being changed,'' Greene said. ``I know there are rumors out there, but they are not true.''

The Dolphins have considered updating the uniform for some time, and the next move in that process is to seat focus groups that would view possible changes and give opinions on those.

The Dolphins modified their logo in 1997, making the dolphin seem more aggressive, among other things. The previous logo had been in use since 1972.

Would be nice if someone with photo shop skills could put that together real quick. Shouldn't take long. Just paste the Dolphin stadium logo over the current one, and paste a Colts facemask over the current, I guess. I have no idea how that works.

WTF? I never responded to your post of pictures. I don't know where you are getting this. Just because my post came some time after yours doesn't mean it's in response to your post. I responded to the thread in general. I never once commented on your pictures. So stop thinking so highly of yourself and your pretty little picturres to think that every post following yours is in response to your post.

But now I will take the time to comment on your pics since it is obviously so important that I do. Those logos would look decent on a pop warner team maybe. And a colored helmet would look horrible IMO. :hi5:

Your right. You didn't post in response to my pics, but your overall negative attitude blinded me. And I agree that colored helmets would look crappy. But for you to say these logos look like Pop Warner helmets is a joke. They're essentially the same logo we have now, except different color schemes and no helmet on the dolphin.

And no, I don't think I'm special. Just annoyed with your 6 posts/day average. Get a life, dude.

 Funny, coming from someone who took the time to change the logos with Paint.

Negative attitude? I don't want a big change unless it's to the old uniforms, so because I disagree with you I have a negative attitude? Unless you are counting my response to the multiple threads on this same topic or the several posters who have connected changing the uniform to winning the Super Bowl, in which case the attitude wasn't negative, it was mocking and humored.

But thanks for admitting that you were wrong in claiming I was responding to your pictures. Your apology is accepted.

The current aqua-on-aqua combo (that we wore for the Bears night game that one year) is a GREAT looking alternative uniform (like Seattle's all-blue, or Saints' all-black).

I'd love to see the Fins go with all-aqua at away games and all-white at home games.

You'll never see all-aqua at road games because the home team gets jersey choice, and most of the NFL chooses to wear their colored jerseys for home games.

For any of you long time 'Fins out there that noticed,we need to get rid of the stupid teal.We are the DOLPHINS!!!Aqua...NOT TEAL...is our color.Teal is for the Jags. Our true aqua from the 70's and 80's was much bluer and literally glowed as the sun hit them. Those things were virtually radioactive. And I do LOVE our all whites. The Colts are the only other team that wear them regularly.I think our logo is solid.Moreso agressive looking that the older one.Retro/throwback uni's.....especially ours.....ABSOLUTELY RULE!!!

You say mocking and humored. I say mean spirited and trying to belittle people for what they post. Those paint pics took 30 minutes. That as opposed to 6000+ minutes of posts (if your posts average 1 minute). Yes, thats right, 100 hours of you making fun of what other people post. I think that speaks for itself. Oh, and that was no apology. That was just me being man enough to admit a mistake. Lets see who gives up first.

So you had the time to read through all my posts to form such an opinion? Or are you just basing it on my response to the multiple fins fashion threads, moss threads, and TO threads? Where did you find the time to go through them all? Actually, it only takes me about 2 seconds to belittle an asinine idea like the one I first responded to (new uniforms=winning), an idea that deserves even more belittling than I am allowed here. So your math is a bit off. Regardless, that time could be much better spent thinking of ways to pretty up our uniforms. Afterwards, perhaps you can think of some nice flower arrangements to put near the endzone.

Somehow I knew you wouldn't give up. I read the message boards enough to get the jist of your attitude towards other people, especially those who aren't VIP. I swear that VIP group is like a fraternity. Your posts are smug and you make fun of peoples posts all the time. Your no Wade. He is light hearted and funny. Reading the post you are responding to, clicking on the link, then typing does not take seconds, no matter how fast of a typist you are or how short sighted your opinions are. You should just admit that you spend entirely too much time posting on this here site and entirely to little time doing improtant things. Maybe you should consider removing you behind from that chair and go outside.

Oh, and there was nothing 'pretty' about the logo pics I made. I took the freakin stupid helmet off the dolphin and made him grey instead of that pretty aqua. Minor changes that you want to continue to rip. I think you were the only one, BTW.

Your inability to take any form of negative criticism is hilarious. If you don't want any, don't post the pictures. Simply asking for no negative criticism is hysterical. It's even funnier when the negative criticism is blown way out of proportion. I never said that it was hideous. I said it would look good on Pop Warner uniforms, but that was just me being nice. There's really no use to them whatsoever. It's just a change to the current logo. If that's all that's done, perhaps we could cater to those that demand a more "fearsome" dolphin on the logo. Maybe you could add a horn to its head and an over-sized tail fin so it could "swim faster." I don't know about you, but if I saw a dolphin coming at me with horn and a giant tail fin, my response would be something along the lines of, "Jesus god! A dolphin is chasing me with a ****ing horn, and it's moving like a torpedo!" I might even wet myself a little, assuming I hadn't already gone being that I'm in the ocean and there's a certain satisfaction that comes with knowing that everyone around you is swimming in your pee. Perhaps the opposition would have the same reaction if they saw such a vile abomination on the side of our helmets, clearing our path to the Super Bowl while leaving our impaled, urine-drenched victims in our wake.

And it's fell swoop and asinine, though you can replace the 's' with a 'z' to be cool like the kids these days. It's not related to a poop factory.

I asked that the current stripes we have now remain, and the current colors on the Dolphin Stadium logo. From looking at it, I think he changed the aqua for the old school teal we used to use. The stripes also look like they resemble that of the Broncos helmet. Maybe put the sun circle around it as well.

I'm actually not a throw back person. I like the uniform change that the Bengals, Cardinals, Falcons, Broncos and even the Vikes did. The Giants and Jets not so much. I didn't like the Colts going to grey facemasks. I think the colors the Dolphins have allow for us to have one of the nicest Uniforms in the league, we need to get away from the dull...

Incorporate some more Navy, darken the orange, make the teal more like it was in the 80's... :dolphins:

I totally agree with adding some grey to the uniform. If the rumors of the logo change and last years Dolphin Stadium logo are any indication of things to come, we can expect some grey in the uniforms and logos. And for all you traditionalists out there, I completely want to keep our current colors of aqua and orange, but I think it would be cool to add a new color in there. So don't reem me, please.

Tell me what you guys think. Some of you may not like changes, but at least be civil. No need to be mean. And try to keep an open mind.

Not once did I say I don't want people to give their opinions on these mocks. I can take criticism. I just merely asked for people to be cool about it. The moment you posted that picture of the completely femine dude and started ripping on the whole idea of logo or uni changes ("But what this team needs more than anything is fashion!"), I took offense. Instead of being civil, you chose to be mean-spirited. Man, I even replied to you initially in a civil manner, but you kept going and going. I also never said I wanted to add horns or make any major changes to the logo, either. I just wanted to make the dolphin grey and take away that ridiculous helmet. Unfortunately, you can't recongnize that those are very minor changes. You're the one blowing things out of proportion.

And now you're making excuses for why you post so much on Finheaven. Face it, you spend too much time on here, regardless of what your doing while on here. I think you should avoid assuming I don't have the ability to multitask. I have a job (ER veterinarian) which requires SERIOUS multitasking and is more of an accomplishment than you could ever hope for in your entire life. I'm not sitting around waiting for some veteran who needs to apply for a loan or needs to find out what is in his health care coverage. Sounds to me like you are a glorified receptionist. Maybe thats why you can spell so well, but your grammar is atrocious (see the bolded statement above....I don't even know what you are trying to say there). Do you the definition of hypocrite? If you're gonna criticize me about my spelling, make sure your grammar is correct first.

I'm glad to know my hard-earned tax money is spent on your time on Finheaven. I support our troops, but not the ones who sit on a computer on Finheaven all day. I don't know how many times I have to tell you this before it sinks in, but get a life, dude.

I'm glad to know my hard-earned tax money is spent on your time on Finheaven. I support our troops, but not the ones who sit on a computer on Finheaven all day. I don't know how many times I have to tell you this before it sinks in, but get a life, dude.

Mods,
Can you please move this to the depths, so we can continue this without interrupting the main board?
Thanks, clownfish.

lol - gonzo needs to get a life because he averages 6 posts a day?! talk about hypocrite - you criticize gonzo for being mean spirited but then you take a shot at his job, put down his grammar and then tell him your metro multi-tasking skills are more of an accomplishment than anything he could ever hope for in his life - dude - get over yourself, you are the one who needs to get a life - and please don't make it a fashion designer - i don't want my hard-earned tax money going towards your unemployment

Ummm, I was talking to Gonzo. What do you have to do with any of this? Have you read everything he has posted to me in this thread and vice versa? Probably not, if you are responding in this way. I am over myself and I won't be unemployed any time soon, so don't worry. And it's not the amount of posts, it's the intention behind them. If you read what I just posted, I was initially very civil, until he started flaming me. So, really, mind your own business, dude. I think Gonzo is capable of sticking up for himself.

Oh, and what is "metro" about my multitasking? I guess I do live in a metropolitan, but I don't know what that has to do with my multitasking. And if you're talking about being metrosexual, well, you're the one with an undisclosed gender and has an avatar with Jim Carey in drag. That money you make as a drag queen is not taxed, so you really have nothing to worry about.

We only went with that blue for a couple of years and they dumped it. That's not the original aqua if that's the direction you support. That blue had Houston Oilers written all over it and I was very glad they dumped it.

I have a pic somewhere of an SI cover from the late 60s with Frank Emanuel on the cover in the original aqua jersey. It's closer to that in the pic of Kooch for aqua color than the current uniforms are. You may be right that it was for a short period of time, as that pic was late in Kooch's career, since it looks like Woodley behind him. Then again when I look at this Emanuel pic from 1966, it's not far from the blue trim on Kooch's uni from the early 80s.

I thought you were done, but apparently you want to keep going. So, here are pieces of my original post in this thread:

Thanks, clownfish.

First off, I was ripping on the fact that there were multiple threads of this same subject and the fact that some equated a new logo with winning. The latter deserves to be ripped most of all. Also, people with a sense of humor found the Sacha Cohen picture funny. If it was offensive to you, I can't do anything about that. Some people simply have delicate sensibilities and it would be absurd to try to cater to everyone. If it's against TOS to post pictures of well known comedians, well, I guess I screwed up. Otherwise, deal with it.

There was nothing mean-spirited about it. I replied in a civil manner as well, which you falsely labeled condescending, which you apparently believe means any opinion differing from yours. When I began pointing out the logical fallacies in your posts (and not in a "mean-spirited" manner), such as the rehash claims and your claim that nobody equated a new uniform with winning, you began attacking my post count and personal life  .

Speaking of personal life, it's cute that you think that putting your finger up poodles' butts all day is more important than serving in the military, but it's hard to take such a view seriously from someone who never wore the uniform. You obviously don't have any idea what 2 hour recall is, though I thought maybe you could figure it out. So, don't worry about where your tax money is going. Just be happy it's keeping you whiny *** safe thanks to people like me. Don't expect a refund on your taxes simply because I decided to relax and talk to friends on here for a couple of hours after a few weeks straight in the field, passing the time while waiting to be called back at any moment.

As for my job at the VA, that was during undergraduate school. I am sure you did something supremely vital to mankind while in university, like flipping burgers at McDonald's. I'll take your insults against veterans with a grain of salt though, knowing it's really bitterness caused by your own inability to ever do something near as important as we have.

Please explain what is wrong with the bolded sentence and how it can be corrected. I'm always willing to learn ways in which I can improve my grammar. Creating new thoughts and designing how to express them takes a little more thought than simply writing well known words down; therefore, it's more susceptible to mistakes. Is the subject-verb agreement flawed?

As for getting a life, given your quick responses, we apparently spend the same amount of time on here.

Why am I here? Why are you here? Why is anybody here? I think it was Jean-Paul Sartre who once said... how do you spell Sartre? Nemo?

And I won't because we have real doctors.

God, you just don't shut up, do you?

Explain this to me, douche bag. How is a real doctor gonna save you from getting shot in the head or blown into a million tiny bits? He can't, so don't think you can't die fighting for George Bush's oil and the freedom of the Iraqi people (not my freedom). Besides, I don't want you to die Gonzo, but it would be funny if your cawk n balls got blown off. I don't think that real doctor would be able to help you in that case either. Although, he may question the fact that there is a puzzy between your legs.....Nurse Fanny: "Doctor, this man lost his peenis and testicles in that explosion." Dr GI Joe: "No, Nurse Fanny, this 'man' is what we call a transgender."

And just so you know, it is much more difficult to get accepted to veterinary school than medical school because there are only like 28 vet schools in the whole country. Now I'm not sayin that I'm better than an MD, but we are comparable. I bet you that if you were shot in the belly, I could save your life with medicine. But I wouldn't cause your a meat curtain.

Let me guess, our government put you through rigorous testing before they would let you in the service. C'mon, any loser can get in to the army. In fact, most of the guys I know who went into the service were drug addicts or goin nowhere in life. And you probably fit into that category based on your sig and avatar. Hunter S Thompson and the Dude were major drugees and I can't see someone admiring them as much as you do without also being a drugee. A real soldier would be so devoted to his country that he would never think about getting stoned.
